Im surprised how both shows had cuckolds as main characters.

Was there really any connection between the two shows?

I always had a feeling that Chima was originally going to be a Lego Thundercats line before the show was canned, and Lego was just like "fuck it, we'll do our own show."

The timing and the similarities just seemed weird to me.

i think there was about as much connection as there was between lion king and kimba the white lion. basically just "people are eating up serious fantasy based on the goofy but attemptedly-serious fantasy of the 80s right now". hell, LotR probably got them going in that direction.
an aborted tie-in would seem likely if it was anything else other than thundercats. lego is doing EVERYTHING now but it's hard to imagine THIS of all things. and it certainly wouldn't be t-cats refusing the deal, as it were.
