I don't think there's any thing like that but it'll probably develop as Hastings gets more into a groove. I really compare the book to the earlier part of Kelly's Deadpool where it's alright at the start but it's not until Typhoid Mary comes in during Kelly's run (issue 7) that it starts picking up.
I'm enjoying Gwenpool well enough but I'll give it a few more issues to see if we're going to get large instances of pathos and other "dark" stuff or if it's going to continue treading between being a comedy and a drama but never actually committing itself into being more than a "cute" book with a sad moment here and there.

Nothing much happened in the first few issues of Deadpool as well. I'd say look at Duggan's (and Posehn's) Deadpool which started out with that nothing dead Presidents arc too. It's the defiance of expectations. You would expect a comic fangirl with zero combat training to get put down in a heartbeat by that kind of agent, and then she just kills him dead. That dissonance is a fundamental part of humor in general. Horrible things happen every month that result in shitloads of civilian, hero, and villain deaths all the same and as Batroc surprisingly puts it for a character in the narrative, despite the fact that Cap puts so much effort into changing the world and keeping people safe, all of his victories are fleeting and the danger the world is in is essentially at a constant, because that's what you need to sell books. It's like Warhammer, if nobody took the unbelievable danger everybody is constantly in any seriously.
Living in a comic book world would be a constant flip-flop between a sugar-coated dream and a complete nightmare, and putting a character who is supposed to be a real world person to examine this is a really cool idea.
