Bias caused by slow updates. Re-read the webcomic after it reaches the end of its third chapter, and you can judge it better.
For comparison: Homestuck. So many pages wasted before they get to the meat of the story at around ch 3.
You can substitute 3rd chapter with 100th page/3rd arc if the webcomic has no chapters.
