itt comic runs nobody talks about here
Milligan Animal Man
Teen Titans presents: Raven
That Mystique solo comic where she was basically shape-shifting James Bond working for Xavier.

Chronos
Thunderstrike
Kesler's Superman run because of the "electric supes sux" meme
>>83832651
>Kesler's Superman run because of the "electric supes sux" meme
Which is weird since Morrison's Justice League is highly regarded and had Electric Supes in it for a while.
Chase
The art is quintissential 90s muscle sculptures but it axtually becomes endearing as it brings you back. But holy hell. .it was ostrander writing heroes for hire in just a wonderfully entertaining run.
I first got into it due to a hillarious deadpool crossover as I was into dp at the time and after the two issues I had to go bac to read the rest. Still entertaining today.
>>83832678
People tend to excuse Morisson's JLA because "DC forced him to!" It's really just a case of waifuing an author.
I wish people would actually give Electric Supes a chance by reading the run-up to the transformation all the way through the Millennium Giants arc.
>>83832693
Whoa shit Ostrander wrote a Heroes for Hire run and no one told me this existed?
>>83832847
>DC forced him to!
I thought Morrison was intentionally careful to make sure his League matched up with what was going on with other comics. Pretty sure I read that somewhere. I actually really like Morrison and enjoyed that run. And I liked electric Superman in it. I'll check out Kesler's Superman sometime.
>>83832874
Yep. Probably one of the more underrated runs out there.
Another run that doesn't get mentioned often enough is Ellis' Thunderbolts.
>dat Moonstone
>dat Bullseye
>dat Songbird
>dat Norman
>>83832884
The story that gets parroted on /co/ is that Grant wanted to use the classic Supes but was ordered by execs to use the then-current Electric one.
>>83832979
>Another run that doesn't get mentioned often enough is Ellis' Thunderbolts.
Really? I see it brought up pretty often, hell the whole run just got storytimed here not too long ago.
>>83831854
I only know of the Android Hourman from DC One Million and JSA, is this series any good?
>>83833076
It's been a while since I've been to /co/ but I think I remember that that storytime actually brought it into common /co/ awareness. I wasn't aware that it's gaining popularity.
>>83833105
This is the Android Hourman.
>>83833370
I know, my question was whether or not this series was worth checking out.
>>83831854
This was a really good book.
Also Beth was my waifu before I knew what that was.
>>83832651
Did Kesel last up to electric Superman? I thought he left when Superboy launched and Metropolis was destroyed
I love the early triangle years. Death and Return may be a stunt show, but they really tied everything up that had been mentioned all the way back to the post Byrne era
Plus, a pretty decent showing of the non New Gods Fourth World stuff.
>>83832678
Morrison made some great use of his electric powers.
>>83831854
New Warriors: Reality Check
Avengers: The Initiative
>>83833490
He lasted through Electric Superman.
>>83833513
How was Damage?
>>83832912
Maybe it'll get the next Heroes for Hire Epic Collection trade
>>83834916
Not as good as Ray, but still a fun read. The teen heroes of 94 were solid books like Robin and Superboy
>>83831854
Sure the JLA are uncharacteristic here but what a fucked up origin. Imagine finding out that your college girlfriendis your mother.
>>83835512
my nigger
love me some Milligan
>>83836995
It's a shame he hasn't written anything decent in over a decade. What happened to him? He's still one my absolute favorites though.
>>83838285
To piggyback off that, nobody talks about Milligan's run beyond Dark Knight, Dark City. It's VERY offbeat and probably the most out ther run the character has had (at least post crisis and disregarding Morrison)
Why the fuck does no one talk about Starman? Late 90s DC is best DC. JLA amd Hitman at least get some recognition. Vertigo was on fire at this time, too.
>>83838815
Everyone mentions Starman whenever we have a best of DC thread or List your favorites thread. DESU I think the writing was a little heavy handed
>>83833105
I'm surprised /co/ doesn't talk about it more. It's /co/ the comic book in that it stars an emotionally stunted individual whose best friend is a man-child, who turns his friend's ex-wife into a loli and then dates her.
So yeah, it's awesome! Someone should storytime it!
>>83838815
>Late 90s DC is best DC
Some of my favorite DC stuff came from then, sure, but I think bronze age DC may be better.
>>83838815
>Late 90s DC is best DC
I'm a fan of Post Crisis to Zero Hour
>>83832678
It's not that weird. Superman was just one chaeacter of many in that whole run. This allows the story to be enjoyable despite that version of Supes being present.
>>83832693
>The art is quintissential 90s muscle sculptures
Really? I always felt that Pasquel Ferry had a really solid sense of movement and a kinda Madueira style cartooniness to his art, back before it turned into the weird flatness it has nowadays.
>>83832979
>Another run that doesn't get mentioned often enough is Ellis' Thunderbolts
This is objectively false. It's VERY popular around here.
>>83839435
It's actually mentioned often but shit on a lot? /co/ hates how all of the characters are compressed into a simpler version of themselves.
It's personally my favorite Thunderbolts run though.
Baron's Badger
Baron's Nexus
Baron's Ginger Fox
Baron's Butcher
Englehart's Coyote
Dixon's Evangeline
Dixon's Lawdog
Dixon's Airboy
Dixon's Alien Legion
Potts' Alien Legion
Starlin's Dreadstar
Ostrander's Grimjack
Truman's Scout
Truman's The Prowler
Motter's Mister X
Burden's Gumby
Mannion's Fearless Dawn
Simpson's Megaton Man
Mills' Marshal Law
Mills' Charley's War
Welz's Cherry Poptart
Kurtzman's Little Annie Fanny
Strom's Dee Dee
Strom's Cheeta Pop
Punisher runs that happened before Garth Ennis
>>83840412
Dixon's is fucking genius. Baron's is OK.
>>83840533
Baron's is a mixed bag. He wrote so much that sometimes it's great and sometimes you get that story about Frank becoming Black after a botched facial reconstruction
>>83839909
Thunderbolt fans have very specific ideas about how every T-Bolt should be portrayed and get mad at basically everyone who writes Moonstone that isn't Busiek and Nicieza.
>>83831854
That's a horrible costume.
>>83833490
Superboy is the most underrated run of all-time
>>83838815
I agree but everyone talks about Starman but it's a done series. What is there left to talk about besides how fantastic it was and how it needs to be reprinted more?
But my Vertigo vote goes to Books of Magic
like about 100 total issues and nobody remembers it at all
>>83838815
It's been storytimed in full a couple of times, at least.
>>83839909
it's pretty bad anon
>>83840358
>Dixon's Evangeline
>>83840358
I have never seen anyone talk about Badger. Ever.
>>83831854
This is the only time Amazo was even remotely interesting.
One of the last pre-COIE DC superheroes created.
>>83840358
Grell's Starslayer
Grell's Jon Sable
McGregor's SABRE
>>83838918
and he loves caffeine
fun little series like Thor Mighty Avenger
>>83839435
Jeff Parker's run on T-Bolts is another good one
>>83842134
they've storytimed Badger before
>>83840358
>Mannion's Fearless Dawn
was shitty
Ginger Fox was cool though, could make a movie
>>83840358
> Ostrander's Grimjack
Grimjack is great. The concept is that Grimjack is a mercenary located in a city that exists at the center of the multiverse so different parts of it are from different universes. The rules of reality can change from block to block
>>83842085
I make it a point to re-read every issue of Books of Magic at least once a year/every other year; Timothy Hunter is GOAT.
>>83842206
I also seem to remember some Nexus storytimes as well; shit was as cash as Honest Crocus.
>>83832678
>>83832847
I'm still upset that the DCYou stuff got ignored in Justice League and JLA. I would have loved to see BatBot or Wonder Woman try to fastball special Superbro into a monster
>>83842955
based anon got dubs
Three teenagers hanging out instead of doing homework, dealing with the death of the fourth. Way better than it shoulda been.
>>83842085
Not the same run, but I thought this was the saddest cancellation caused by the reboot.
Jonah Hex has never had a bad run. This is an undisputed fact.
>>83845130
It was storytimed before.
>>83845144
We'll sir I still don't ever see people talk about the wonderful Dazzler
A force doesn't count
>>83845165
>A force doesn't count
I'm talking about her solo run.
>>83845135
>>83843732
Nu52 you son of a bitch
>>83845170
>>83845165
>I still don't see people talk about the wonderful Dazzler (with image of original run)
>I'm talking about her solo run
?????
>>83843732
that's not Amethyst or Klarion
>>83838285
I still like stuff he's written recently, like New Romancer or The Discipline.
>>83845194
I didn't know they had ongoings before new52 hit..
I remember loving theJeff Parker run of Rulk
Crazy stories and themes all the way through, almost no traditional marvel villians or brought down by other nonsense
>>83845225
Gemworldo been around for some time anon
>>83845230
I don't see how this is relevant to what we were talking about.
Shit was so fucking BRUTAL in the beginning.
If only it had maintained that
>>83845242
Not knowing Amethyst had been around for awhile
Anon says it's been around for awhile
>somehow not relevant
Please don't go into a nice thread and starting anger baiting ppl anon
>>83845189
http://desustorage.org/co/thread/82503573/
>>83845201
The Discipline seemed rather
Uh
Rapey I guess, like monster rape
Is it really good? I seem to either love or hate stuff when I read milligan
>>83845274
Goddamnit man just because we story time something doesn't mean it is popular or that it always discussed
Look at the Starman Hellboy team up.
That was storytimed, still not discussed or popular
>>83845246
I throughly enjoyed this series, bunn hate aside
>those paper clips of horror
>>83845265
>Not knowing Amethyst
literally fucking who? This guy >>83843732
says that Superboy run getting canceled is the saddest loss that came with the New52 and then this guy>>83845194 says Amethyst and Klarion were sadder cancellations but...they didn't have ongoings when New52 hit.
Sweet baby Jesus this book
>>83845286
I like it, not among his best but a good comic that's currently being published.
>>83845394
They didn't even the 52 hit.
I was saying Amethyst had been aground, and we don't talk about it (i.e. this thread theme)
>>83845395
The Pre Messiah Complex New X-Men don't seem to get a lot of love in /co/. I mean, the run was bit of a mixed bag, but it was a pretty nice one for the most part.
In fact, I would say it was one of the best kid X-Men runs outside of the original New Mutants.
>>83845408
Do you think it's worth looking into, like died is it have potential to be great in the future or is just like monsters and darkness cause Peter felt like it
>>83845427
LOVED THAT SHIT
Complex
Endangered species
War
Second coming
Fuck that makes my dicky so hard I loved that saga so much
This run was so good
Don't why dc let it go oop so hard
This shit.
What you say you like 90s books and you don't know bout te best team up to come out of the decade. Fucking spirits of vengeance!!
Danny ketch as ghost rider with Johnny blaze wielding a Bellaire spewing shotgun and sportin a sweet ass ponytail trench coat combo.
It led early on into the kick ass rise of the midnight sons event.
>>83845507
I think I may need this series
Is it collected in a tpb?
>>83845426
was lame
>>83838316
this shit needs to be collected
>>83838316
Speaking of Dark Knight, Dark City, this is another underrated Bat run and one of the best from 2000s. Lapham's entire Tec run was unsettling, but great.
>>83832651
>Chronos
John Francis Moore in general is a pretty underrated writer. I need to read Doom 2099 and X-Men 2099 but his X-Force is really good. I'm surprised he basically completely dropped off the face of the earth after 2000 and isn't still being used.
Dixon's Winterworld
Wagner's Grendel
Grant's Whisper
Loeb's Superman/Batman
Puckett's Batman Adventures
By the same writer as G.I. JOE
>>83832874
Late '90s/bankruptcy era Marvel has some good stuff in it that nobody really seems to know about because it was published during a low period and is between the boom and revival periods (plus general "lol '90s" dismissiveness).
Barr's Maze Agency. Had art by Adam Hughes. Possibly the best mystery comic in the history of the medium.
>>83847608
Never even heard of it
Love some Hughes though
>>83847187
>Loeb's Superman/Batman
But it does. And if often storytimed in some form or another.
>>83845362
Bunn was born to write keikaku master villains.
>magneto vs sinestro

>>83842134
It got some talk when the first few issues of the new series was released.
>>83832847
I really want to read through Electric Blue Supes, since I enjoyed what I read as a kid.
>>83840412
Baron should've stopped after the kingpin showdown
Better than the Punisher
>>83840358
>Baron's Nexus
Buying the Archives soon friend. I'm super glad The Dude is getting more work at DC though, his art if fantastic.
>>83848053
Literally one of the best comics ever.
>>83848009
One of the best things Gerber ever did.
