But now he's in the new timeline created by his intervention, if he had another vision about how that Thanos thing would go down, IF he did, why didn't he pick up the phone?
A tragedy was about to happen. Things were going to go bad. Maybe the human in armor wasn't going to ever be anything more than collateral damage?
Look at how it's now lined up: the person who wants this to be stopped (Tony) has lost his closest ally, looks like he's too emotionally compromised to think straight, and this is after Ulysses has proven his worth beyond all doubt to his supporters.
What if Ulysses can see multiple possible futures and chose between them? What if he can see future results past his own interventions? What if he knows how to play people because he's seen how to?
He will soon predict that Tony Stark will cause a superhero civil war. NOW, would Tony have without Ulysses' interventions?

He thinks Ulysses is unreliable, he doesn't think he's an evil mastermind manipulating everyone to do his evil bidding. I'm not a comicbook super-genius and I came up with these in a matter of minutes, Tony's playing out scenarios and possibilities to a much higher multitude over the course of days, if the future starts to play out in the way that he knows it would if a precognative mastermind was manipulating people, that's likely to be the only confirmation he'll get before it's too late to act.
