I was presently surprised by the demigod. It's instantly made me way more interested in the movie. Exploring a less often used regions pantheon is often fun and educational.
Heck just off reading up on some of the claims he makes from the trailer has taught me more about the god Maui then I knew before.

Not him, but I knew Maui was going to be in the movie but until now was very unsure of the role he was going to play. I didn't know if he'd be like Pinnochio's Blue Fairy and only show up occasionally, or if he'd be a full on sidekick that's with Moana for the whole movie, and aside from that I didn't know if he'd be an actual demigod with magic powers like turning into a bird or if he'd just be a regular guy who people thought was a god for whatever reason. The trailer paints a clearer picture on what it means to have Maui in the movie.
