What went right? Is Chris Savino the cartoon guru the west has been waiting for? How did he get kids to stop watching Spongebob?

Not just relatable humans, but relatable kids.
Dipper and Steven certainly don't feel like kids. Steven is way too much of a little bitch, and Dipper is too much like an adult.
>>
>>83785914
Alright. Extremely simple character archetypes and focusing on feelings just about every kid with a sibling understands.

>there isn't an ulterior agenda being forced, nor is it forcing pop culture random meme shit.
This show has: black best friend with gay dads, interracial relationships, and probably some other third thing that /pol/ would hate, maybe feminism. I would think that if you're the kind of person that imagines a lot of cartoons have "ulterior agendas", that that'd probably be something you'd label this cartoon as.
>>
>>83786009
Oh. He almost made Loud House into a talking animal show.

Well, good thing he didn't do that.
>>
I watched a few episodes and I thought it was pretty bad. Every single character is either obnoxious or boring, probably because they're barely even characters and are just embodiments of a single gag. Maybe I just need to watch more episodes.

But waifufags and kids seem to love it, so that's good I guess.
>>
>>83786465
To be fair, from what I've seen, the gay dads are more for comic relief. It still feels out of place, but if one of them is Tom Kenny or someone doing a stereotype fag voice, it's hard to call it an agenda.

The interracial thing I don't really care. We don't know much about the Santiago family, they could be from northern Spain for all we know. Lincoln seems firmly against Clyde getting with his sister.
>>
>>83786465

Proofs that Clyde actually HAS "two dads"?

It's true, I'm more bothered with SU using a feminist idea of depicting gender role reversal with Steven forever being a total puss with "helpful" emotional intelligence while the Gems are strong confident female lesbian warriors but lack the emotional intelligence because they're aliens. I mean they shove that shit logic down your throat, where in Loud House, I didn't even notice Clyde having two dads.

That's pretty much what I thought. I saw people raving about the show on /co/ and /trash/ but it's painfully average

I love the twins, though. They're fucking awesome.
>>
>>83786009
Sorry, I can't help but to see this as a fluke for the time being. Of course it gets great ratings because Nick has been advertising it left and right before it's premiere. Let's see if those ratings stick now that its in "hiatus hell" along with the rest of the non-Spongebobs.
>>
>>83786777
But the question is: what do you expect?
>>
At this point I just want a cartoon on nick that isn't utter trash. This seems to fit the bill for the time being

It already had a hiatus, and came back with still strong ratings.
But the thing people often overlook is the ratings of reruns, in which TLH continues to perform strongly.

You are reaching with most of these, the gay dads have barely been mentioned or appeared
>>
>>83787443
That's the point. If you're the kind of person who gets bothered by "gay agendas", or whatever, you'd probably accuse the same thing of this show. I'm not saying those are my viewpoints.
>>
>>83785876
Should I start watching or is it a bad time right now?

Also, what should I be expecting?

The fact that we have to "analyze" it takes a lot away from our enjoyment tea bee ayuch.

I'd actually wager that Loud House is hardly that different from Steven Universe in-terms of "muh propaganda," but the thing is that Loud House is just fun a show about a kid and his big family; it simply doesn't attract the anime-watching-broken-family-bisexual-tumblr-girl crowd that plagues Steven Universe, which is only seen as liberal because of its vocal fanbase projecting itself.

Also Savino is Catholic, right? Catholics tend to be pretty okay at keeping agendas out of our media.

>create a cartoon

So I'm guessing Nickelodeon is going through a CN-esque revival after this?
>>
>>83785876
Let's be honest: Concept is good but episodes are cliché as hell
>>
>>83787710
Judging by the future cartoons down the line that they greenlit. They got lucky with Loud House and Harvey Beaks.
>>
>>83787786
Honestly, I'm fine with cliché. So much stuff tries to be new and exciting that it's nice to seensomething that's comfortable in doing the basics and doing it right.
>>
>>83787789
The good news is lesser cartoons will start to imitate Loud House, instead of wacky buddy pairing like AT and RS, so expect more harem shows.
>>
damn that last episode was so fucking good
>>
>>83787838
Yeah no, go take a google search and see the stuff they recently greenlit. They still think buddy pairings is the way to go.

Also, as an someone who doesn't give a crap about a shit-tier fetish like incest. Loud House makes for a lame harem show which I find a plus.
>>
>>83787572
>GF

What is that?
>>
>>83787973
Well, Nick probably green lit those shows before TLH became a hit.
You need to give the imitators some time.
>>
>>83788035
It was a comedy show from the 70's, great the first years but the writters fuck it up the last season, still one of my favourites

Could the "normalness" of the whole thing really be a factor?

How it is a show about regular kids doing regular kid stuff?

And not

>Magical princesses
>wacky talking animals
>superheroes
>super geniuses adventures
>mythical creatures in wacky adventures

Yea give it at least another year and a half for someone to copy it and get a few episodes together.
>>
>>83788111
That is definitely it. It's been so long since we just got a cartoon like this. The last one I can think of is Ed, Edd n Eddy.

He didn't try to do too deep of you episodes and pandered to children. he also left political issues out.

Yea I was thinking As Told by Ginger or some of the other Klasky toons where it was more sitcom-ish.

After hearing the guy talk about what he went through trying to get a series on tv, at least it all turned out well for him.

Implying parents weren't just using spongebob as background noise while their children play their Ipads.
>>
I want the Lincoln and the girls to each have their own extended cast, having their own unique friends that they interact with that the others don't or don't know of.
>>
Is this show the new Steven Universe? Or the new MLP?
>>
>>83791932
Neither, until the fandom begins creating OC sisters.
>>

Literally only among kids 2-11, so who gives a shit? Shit thread, sensationalist nonsense, and only by 50k, fuck off, retard.

Good story writing. Almost every episode ends in a good lighthearted way for Lincoln.

Right. Remember hoe Nick had better ratings than CN with Spongebob reruns?

The people who watch Nick have a very, VERY low bar.

>We don't know much about the Santiago family, they could be from northern Spain for all we know.

They're clearly from the whitest country in the world: Argentina

>Lincoln seems firmly against Clyde getting with his sister.

He doesn't seem so much against it as sure it'll never happen. He doesn't encourage Clyde or tell him to knock that shit off, he treats it as a handicap to put up with.
>>
Currently watching this. I'm on episode three.

From the bad reviews I got here, I expected it to be terrible, but I was pleasantly surprised. I like its newspaper comic style and how some characters are off-scene. The sisters really have distinct personalities too. It's also kind of refreshing, story-wise: it's just a cartoon about a kid and his relationship with his siblings. But the show really needs to do something with how it will flesh out the other sisters and not make them one-note.

I have four siblings, with two who are still kids. They'll probably like this and would relate.

Overall, it's pretty good and I like it. It offers a nice variety to the current cartoons.
>>
The reason Loud House is beating SpongeBob is because it's better than SpongeBob.

A recurring theme I see when my sister babysits is that the only thing the kids watch on Nick is SpongeBob. Pig Goat, Breadwinners, all that shit, they're like "Ew, I hate this." and change the channel. Same kids watch almost, if not everything on CN and Disney.

I haven't been around super recently but I think some of those kids might like The Loud House.
>>
>>83798510

when it comes to loud house it helps that most kids have siblings and because of that they can relate to the characters in some way
