How good is this?
Old. Old.
Ironically Bendis might be right, if you're going to look a version with his foreword: it's been ripped off by everybody so much that the the original is dull in comparison (my words, not his).
Find some story time or scan of it before you buy it. You might want to spend that $50 on Metabarons instead.
It goes Jodorowsky pretty fast.
The recolours are disgracious.
Worth a look, at least.

>it's been ripped off by everybody so much
Pls. The number of people who write drivel comparable to Jodorovsky is in the single-digits at max.

This, Jodorowsky is alone in his own place, I don't even know if you could call him genius. I think he uploaded a video to youtube of himself naked (friend is a Jodorowsky fan and for some reason decided that it was a good idea to share it) he just doesn't give a fuck.

It's a classic, everyone even remotely interested in comics should read it.

Way to miss the point. When was being a rip-off a sign of being the same quality as the original?
My implication is that, even if the rip-offs aren't actually on the same level as the original, someone who hasn't read the Incal before would have seen all the concepts and ideas in a thousand other pieces of media, and that the experience of the Incal is cheapened for them.
Which is probably what happened for me.
Alsofull mysticism Jodo is a fucking jerk-off. He's way too fucking catholic to convince me of anything transcendental. Dualisms all over the place and an undoubtedly abrahamic image of "God". Jodo needs a better sense of genre to make his work and mysticism more tolerable or something.
I found Metabarons to be immensely better than The Incal. OP should spare himself the trouble and get that instead.

whatever you think of the writing (it's a love or hate it thing) the art alone make it beyond great.
