Sandra Knight - the first Phantom Lady
Will she ever make a return?

a Phantom Lady will for sure show up at some point to do the job to make the Watchmen look strong.

What? There's been an announcement from DC?

Probably not. The rights are confusing so they'll probably go back to squishy sexy Dee. Or more likely they'll just make a whole new Phantom Lady who will totally be different from Invisible Woman.
The Dollman miniseries was ass.
>>
I don't care if it's Sandra but seeing a Golden Age superhero be confident in her sexuality and be, y'know, sexy and stuff would be really fun. No SJWs allowed.
>>
>>83669892
Agreed. A complete reboot is more likely than figuring out who owns what with a public domain character. The trouble is that all of DC's attempts at retooling the character have been awful. Stormy was a little interesting but not enough to carry her book. And after her run where she was drunk and high (or pretending to be) the whole time and was actually (surprise!) a super genius who then decides to try to kill herself... And yeah, Jennifer Knight was awful, too. If DC ever decides to touch the character again it'll probably be a fresh start.

>>83670109
Everything is SJWs now, shit lord. Accept the progressivism or die.
>>
Phantom Lady? On my /co/? I've never read anything with her in it just seen shitty fan art. What does she do?
>>
Remember when Phantom Lady got stabbed in the middle of the abdomen to death?
I probably fapped to that one page.
>>
>>83670333
Mostly fights spies and Nazis and cliche shit. The Quality and Fox stuff is really not that interesting. On the Freedom Fighters she was just team pussy.

I've got an one-off issue of Starman that she's in on a cd somewhere that's pretty badass though. I can dig it out if anons want a story time.

Okay /co/ here we go with Starman 44. I couldn't find the cd so you get whatever I just downloaded. You don't need to know what was happening in the story at the time to get what's going on as this is a one-off.

She's in the public domain, her name isn't.

There's one on Earth 10 who is the true one reborn.
>>
>>83673874
Phantom Lady and the Freedom Fighters were killed and impaled in front of he Washington monument. One of DC's oldest teams jobbed to death in a forgettable event by a hack writer.
>>
>>83673974
Earth 10 was just a single issue wasn't it?
>>
>>83674057
Yeah. Still I don't expect Dc to carry on publising public domain characters anymore.

That's everyone in fawcett but the Marvel Family, the entire quality comics universe except BlackHawks and PlasticMan, and even Charlton comics characters are in the public domain.

Except Ted Kord.
>>
>>83674172
So they're just going to camp on the rights and not let anyone use her? Was the Earth 10 issue just about keeping the rights then?
>>
>>83669892
omfg nerds
>>
>>83674286
Here it goes..

The trademarks to the names are owned by Dc and logos are aslong as they get renewed, but anyone else can use the concepts, stories in the old days Pre-Dc use. You can use the same backstories and origin to with out getting sued because they're in the public domain aka rights expired.

Other company's have done this, Dynamite did and boom I think. Erik Larsen used Foxes version of the phantom lady,
>>
>>83674566
That's neat. I can see how since Freedom Fighters doesn't fit into DC's big synergistic plan they wouldn't want to build up a property anyone with a drawing pad and internet connection could use, maybe that's why the latest appearance was an alternate earth version that they 100% own.
Why isn't Erik Larson's pass on the character anywhere online?
>>
Is there any superheroine more naked?

Asking for a friend.
>>
>>83674982
https://savagedragonwiki.wikispaces.com/Phantom+Lady

FemForce had their own one but changed the name to fully own theirs. Nightveil is her name.

You can still use the characters real name in the book but not on the cover or on merchandise anywhere.
>>
>>83675031
Vampirella maybe.
Phantom Lady has the better costume though. Canonically Phantom Lady also has the biggest breasts in comics.
>>
>>83675257
If you have the character in the story isn't that functionally the same as having them on the cover or promoting them? Having a character with invisible powers "hiding" inside of a story could be really clever if not just propped up for generic sexy texture. Only three issues of Savage Dragon, I wonder why Larson stopped using her.
>>
>>83675502
Not really, the laws for comics are different.

You can put them on the cover but you're not allowed to mention their name on it. Like for example " Phantom Lady is in danger!!" is a no-no. But you can draw her on the cover.

Dc and Marvel had the same issue with Cap-Marvel. Dc can't use the name on the cover only in the book because the Trademark of the name is yearly renewed by Marvel and lets them own it. The copyright use of the name isn't. Two different things,

Short story, just don't mention the characters name on the cover or toys or cartoons. But you can story-wise or in Universe.

Larson likes to focus on his stuff. Not old stuff.
>>
>>83675932
It seems like an easy character to make profitable, odd that he doesn't at least make one of his goon squads churn out something on the side. Most of his personal projects are kind of forgettable outside Savage Dragon. I respect his approach to comics and creativity I just mean using a legacy character with history to bump things along in Image.

She's literally just sitting there waiting for someone to dance with her.
>>
>>83676531
Yeah, all one would have to do for example is make a book called Dynamic Comics starring her in it. Just no Dc owned stuff is to be used.

Lot of her comics can be reused without getting sued.

You could make a quality comic universe or something like Earth x of old. Of course sans Plastic-Man and the BlackHawks.

Vast majority of Golden-Age characters can be used except the ones Dc and Marvel made.

The jury still out for Human Torch and maybe Namor.
