For a HP Lovecraft fan like myself, is the Fall of Cthulu series worth reading?
>>
I personally loved it. Actually ended up writing a one-nighter for my D&D group modeled after the King in Yellow story from it
>>
First time hearing about it.
What's it about? What's it like? Does it follow Canon Vanilla Lovecraft, or all the tact on bullshit.
pls no derleth

Me too, has legitimately great moments, mixes both action and horror nicely.

Also it's not "lol tentacles an shiiiit so lovecraftian" but touches almost every aspect of the mythos.

Machinations of the Crawling Chaos and madness it brings into the world of men, what else my man?
>>
As a Lovecraft fan myself I've avoided it. Thinking it's just a lazy attempt at cashing in on the rising pop-culture popularity of Cthulhu mythos, but posts in this thread (>>83659334 and >>83659048, thanks lads) have now made me think otherwise.
Definitely have to check it out now.

Well it has some OCs that may not sit well with you, but give it a chance. It's an original story after all, and not (as it often happens) re-rendition of Lovecraft's stories. Or poor-taste parody like Moore writes.

I thought it could be about women jerking off Deep Ones. It's a fair assumption, y'know.

Why is Derleth so well liked among Lovecraft fans?

Imagine that where once you had alien gods, interdimensional demons older than times dead universes and general "there's always a bigger fish" in the best and most frightening way possible.
Then you have warring pantheons in style of New Gods. Come on.

Yes, it's pretty good, although Boom!'s own Cthulhu Tales is even better.

He introduced catholic morality into the Yog-Sothothery.
At the very least he kept Lovecraft's legacy alive. He's not all bad. He just misunderstood what Lovecraft wrote about entirely, and almost mocking it, but in return he kept publishing HPL's original works til they caught on.
