Johns is fantastic. If you actually read comics for more then 16 months you would know he made GL a top 10 book entirely structured with teasers like the aforementioned OP.
Its only a relatively recent phenomena that Johns can't pay off those stingers.

It's weird how little chemistry the members of this league have with one another. Makes the book feel sterile.

I wanna point out that his GL was the WEIRDEST wankfest ever. It was still a wankfest, Hal was still the only one ever allowed to actually do anything and beat the main villain and shit, but as time went on instead of wanking his abilities to the heavens he got progressively dumbed down, to the point of him being a retard who can't use his own ring was an actual goddamn plot point.
It was just bizzare. It was shit past like issue 25, but it's worth analyzing just to get a glimpse into what the hell Johns was thinking...
