Hello, I've heard this is more of a horror comic than a superhero one, and that's got me interested. Is it true? Is it any good?

I'd recommend going back and reading Morrison's Animal Man and Moore's Swamp-Thing first though, then after you read those, read the New 52 Animal Man and New 52 Swamp-thing runs.
