Kill Six Billion Demons

>The halls are dead now, their kings ground into dust. It is the table salt of their new mistress.

Allison is cute. Cute!
>>
Oh I guess a regular grave is fine too
>>
>>83589652
Well, if she actually did kill her husband, that actually doesn't sound quite as interesting; of course she'd kill him. I want a different death for him, making it more tragic or something.

>>
>>83590152
Yeah, seriously, this could go one of two ways. Either Allison is about to get her shit absurdly slapped for daring even say that, or she's about to say "Yeah I killed him, whatever." There's not going to be an in-between.
>>
>>83590241
I prefer the first route. Some sort of twisted YISUNforsaken love for her captor, or some sort of political deal, is FAR more interesting than "he raped me so I murdered him." Which makes sense if this were just some real life human, but I want to see how twisted and fanatically alien Mottom is.

>>83591045
It's about complex fantasy mythologies framed by a pretty standard hero's journey of a heroine destined to slay seven boss characters, with promises of demon kung-fu, lots of supplemental short stories and tons of lore.

There's one character who can interpreted as being about transgender issues but its handled in a way fitting of its setting and scope. There's also a character who's confirmed to be into girls but it's a throwaway joke in one scene. If that's enough for you to be steered away from it as a tumblr comic then don't read it.

>she's framing herself as a victim
No she's fucking not. She's just telling Allison her situation. Never did she say that she wanted Allison to feel sorry for her and even explicitly said she never said that she wasn't a coward.
>>
>>83591631
They're hobos who exist only to be trodden on until the fire of their soul burns out. They have no power, no social standing and are nearly mindless.

Only Zoss persists after death.
>>
>>83591535
>Well she's framing herself as a victim and sympathetic.
>It's likely all bullshit given everything else,
That's the point. Allison's responses to things are supposed to mimic the reaction of the audience, and she calls bullshit.

Besides, Mottom isn't portraying herself as a victim (though Allison and the readers think so), but rather a "victim" of fate: that fate twists who you are and transform you into someone you never thought you'd be. Mottom is trying to teach Allison that she will suffer the same, that fate will twist who she is and set her on a path she will never return from, and she will have no choice on the matter.

It's really easy to see where Abaddon is going with this, and you're an idiot if you can't see it. Abby isn't the sort to blatantly shove explicit 'political' crap into his own comic.
>>
>>83591385
Yeah, Mottom has a clear victim complex, and she's using it as an excuse to abuse her power and shirk her responsibility to the people.

Which is a shame for me because I like doomed protagonists and themes such as the inevitability of power.
>>
>>83591631

A shade is the essence of a living being.

> Persistent shades can be pulled and bound into dead flesh or clay to create servants and mounts. Some people do this to themselves as a kind of contingency plan should they die. The living dead are not truly sapient though.
>>
>>83591719
>Only Zoss persists after death.
No, Zoss doesn't "persist after death". Zoss is dead, but he is beyond causality so he appears to us as alive, yet he's still dead (paradox similar to how YISUN is both "dead" and "alive")
>>
>>83591785
Hence why I said persists. He's still going.
>>
>>83591756
Well that's rather bleak, but then again, this is a story where humans invaded the kingdom of heaven, fucked up the angels, summoned a bunch of demons, fought wars over the multiverse, and then ended up setting themselves up as petty tyrant killers over their cosmic city of corpses.
>>
>>83591785
Being beyond causality renders death meaningless
>>
>>83591735
>>83591752
Mottom is self-absolving; she does not have a victim complex.

I think that the Demiurges are supposed to be teachers as much as they are antagonists.
>>
>>83591875

>>
>>83591938

>Mottom is self-absolving; she does not have a victim complex.
That's why I put "victim" in quotation marks. But it's pretty apparent she views herself a product of circumstance, or rather she views who people are to be products of "ordained" circumstance. She's a "fatalist".

>>

>>
>>83592219

A nice theory but no that's wrong. Most of the people are just regular people. Some might know magic but that doesn't necessarily change their appearance. If they look inhuman it's because they aren't human. They're one of the thousands of servant races.
>>
So, I remember there were some arguments on Demiurge strengths in the past. Here's some stuff to check out.

Q: Are all the demiurges basically equal in power or are some significantly stronger or weaker than the rest?
A: There are significant power differences between them, personally and politically. But it’s kept in balance since any one of them that gets too ambitious can be crushed by the rest.

So Mottom, being 2nd to the bottom, is one of the weaker Demiurges. So to make it easy to understand, while Jagganoth is an entire Goku all on his own, the other 6 don't actually compose 1/6th a Goku each (the match is all bullshit anyway, mind you, since Juggs is apparently 3/4th a Goku). That said, the ONLY ones stronger than the Demiurges is Metatron, so Juggernaut and Maya being above them in strength isn't true.

Also there was the idea that our current 7 are weaker than the old guard of the past, but it seems that's not necessarily true.
>The expansion of the demiurges came with people from outlying worlds or the offspring of those in Throne. They became demiurges through ambition or power, either inherited or seized. These new demiurges were not of the original cadre that broke into Throne, and tended to be slightly weaker in their power and looser in their moral codes.
So the new demiurges TENDED to be a bit weaker, but not all of them (though Mottom and Mammon might be). Those like current Jagganoth and peak Jadis are probably extremely strong even compared to the old guard.
>>
>>83594912
Uh, here's the original start of the discussion
>>83591938
Someone asked if any of the people who first invaded Throne were human.

And yes. Most of them were humans. Humans who reached the peak from studying SCIENCE and MAGIC. Philosopher-Kings.

Everything they achieved is something all humans can reach for. There's no racial barriers at all preventing them from reaching the same heights of powers, only their own flaws and personal weaknesses.

>Most of the people are just regular people.
And humans have the greater potential for power beyond the Servants.
>>
>>83589652
Abbadon if you're reading this, please please please let mottom join the main cast.
>>
>>83595030

>>83591305
Am I the only one who feels that skeleton cycle ghost rider is (quite literally) too edgy and that the presence of an actual vehicle make him that much more of an eyesore in this land of magicshit? But then again orbitaldropkick fucking loves this guy so I dunno my taste is probably garbage.
>>
>>83595164
His is the most metal we've seen but there have been vehicles made out of dead things before.

I enjoy how over the top it is. Juggy is clearly trying too hard to be intimidating and scary and I think whatever it was he lost is the reason for that.
>>
>>83595164
Angels and wheels, anon, angels and wheels.

Besides that, Jagganoth makes tanks, man. Tanks. And some Belligerent Knights are apparently HUGE gun nuts in power armor.
>The Knights Belligerent, who worship Jagganoth as god, are extremely fond of firearms of all types, and many of them have straight up power armor.
>>
>>83595238
>Juggy is clearly trying too hard to be intimidating and scary
He is? He's angry and violent, but he doesn't seem to be trying to be intimidating or scary. He just hates everyone a lot.
>>
>>83595278
Now I'm imagining that he doesn't even realize how
terrifying he looks. Does he even notice the clerks cowering when he goes to buy a new tea set? Does he think people let him pass when he goes for a drive because they recognize that he is a figure of respectable authority, and not because they're trying to get as far away from wherever he is as possible?
>>
>>83595102
He asked if any of THESE people talking about the people we currently see in the modern day.
>>
>>83594912
Being blue or having klingon foreheads is inhuman, but apparently that's withing normal human variation in this story
>>
>>83595361
He asked if any of these guys, referring to the ones who invaded Throne, were actually human.

The "modern day" humans entering Throne were taken there as slaves, recruited as soldiers/guilds, had always lived there from past generations of people invited into Throne by the original Demiurges, or forced to emigrate there after their homeworlds were ruined by Demiurges.
>>

Looking forward to this.

Wonder if Ogam actually does manage to introduce her to someone or if she realizes that the one she loved all along was right in front of her all along (just like my animes).
>>
>>83595030
You heavily edited that question and response. You should have just posted the text verbatim.

>No angel is more powerful than a demiurge by the way save Metatron - I’ve seen people mention that and not sure where they are getting that from.
That comes from what Abbadon was saying about the Goku scale of power levels. Apparently he was more joking than not.

He also said the only ANGEL stronger than the demiurges is Metatron, not one. The only angel. So Maya's power is still left untold for now.
>>
>>83595413
Unless he was using the wrong words which is possible he meant to say these guys as in the people we see. It would make more sense to say those guys for those demiurges. The old demiurges are these no longer.
>>
>>83595448
I didn't heavily edit the question. I simply didn't quote it at all, anon. The other stuff I quoted came from OTHER questions. It simply slipped my mind that he was only talking about angels.
>>
Mottom didn't kill her husband, and she's no longer interested in killing Allison, if she ever was. She knows there are fates far worse than death and she is more than happy to let and/or make those happen. We'll most likely see whatever state her husband is in on the next page.
>>
>>83594875
But it isn't a mausoleum, Mottom says as much. The wifes payed homage there while their husbands lived
>>
>>83595463
I stand by my statement.

That said, even if he's referring to the modern human Throne inhabitants we see; yes, they are definitely humans. He thought they were "otherdimensional sort of humans", that they were humans different from us, but they're the same kind of human as always just with different appearances.
>>
>>83595164
You're right. Your taste is garbage. It's supposed to be silly and over the top and metal as fuck.

>>83595333
That would actually be an interesting thing to see. If he ever goes to buy new tea or tea sets. Maybe he has one guy in the really shitty part of Throne that he goes to for all his tea needs because he's the best. He was there once to bust some heads and when he threw the perp through the tea shop window and stepped in he saw the old master there with his paint working on a new cup, shocked at what had just happened, and he thought the scene so hilarious that he bought a tea set from him and still drinks to this day.
>>
>>83595528
I said that they were regular humans unless they weren't in which case they're servants.
>>
>>83595515
No, they paid homage their after they died. They just treated them as still being alive as they believed they lived eternally in the afterlife and that a wife's devotion to visiting them would keep them warm and comfy.
>>
>>83595463
I meant everyone human looking running around on throne, past and present. I was wondering if they still qualify as human, since they hail from crazy alternate dimensions unlike ours/Allison's and spit supermagic and become immortal and whatever else.
>>
>>83595548
Irrelevant. You misunderstood the discussion entirely. He asked "if any of them" are humans.

When some other guy said that they are and I added that they're not really different from any other human being in existence, you said we were wrong.

>>
>>83595588
That's what I thought you meant mostly. You also said that you thought they might be altered magically and I said that wasn't the case. So yeah I was saying that that theory was wrong and that yeah they're regular humans. There wasn't really any misunderstanding.

>>83595599

Honestly, isn't that most ancient epics? People had huge boners for heroism and might then, and most of the heroes were The Best Fighters what kill things really hard. They typically solved things through fighting.

Alice's Earth was definitely visited by Demiurges in the past, apparently. So yes, expect a cross-pollination of themes and symbols.

>>83607458
>Ogam was perplexed, but he was saved when Boratus of the Silver Scales smashed into him with his six-wheeled chariot and knocked him off his feet, sparing him an answer. The other ten gods of justice leapt upon Ogam at once with their clubs and staves and holy rods, and began to beat him savagely. Aesma found this uproariously funny.
>“You, wicked one!” said Ys-Perator the Crown of Truth, “How can you stand there and cackle? Begone. We are punishing the tyrant Ogam for his drunken transgressions with the Mistress of the Petal Tower.”
>“You’re doing a terrible job of it,” pointed out Aesma, snorting with laughter. It was true. Ogam had grown ten stories tall, so that the strikes of the gods of justice were like matchsticks upon his mighty hide. The gods scramble to pin him down with shards of moonlight, but before they could impale him he grew a score of arms and plucked them by their cloaks and rained blows upon them that would have pulverized normal men into gruel.
>Perator gripped her stave with white knuckles and gave Aesma a scornful look. “Well, go off then. Don’t you have better things to do?” she growled. She was of half a mind to drive Aesma off with the rod, as she had done many times before.
>“Not until Ogam tells me who my equal is!” protested Aesma.
>“Fool!” said Perator, “Anyone would be hard pressed to find your equal in wickedness. There are none with such a soul stained with evil save the Red Eyed King who is kept in the Crucible of Punishment, and he is singular in his accomplishments!” Perator realized her mistake a moment too late, for Aesma had already leapt into her chariot and taken to the skies.
>>
>>83617527
>The Crucible of Punishment was a terrible place. Once, the old god Muam was discontent with the angle of the sun upon his mountain lean-to. To this end, he made an arduous journey to the end of the universe, where he found one of the ancient trees that held up its corners, and stripped one of its branches into a mighty pole two and a half billion leagues long. He trudged all the way from the edge back to the center, where he thrust the pole deep into the earth, and using it as an axle, turned the world by five degrees, and was content.
>The world-axle was withdrawn, but the hole it left remained. And halfway down that hole, was the Crucible, which was steeped in perpetual Chthonic gloom. It was a mighty fortress, an iron vessel full to the brim of the worst and most despicable beings to defile the earth, and for this reason it was kept deep and out of sight of the innocent. The Crucible was lashed to the walls of the hole by great chains large enough for a man to walk on, and it had one hundred and five watchers – powerful saints of justice clad in white funeral robes. Each saint had dipped their eyes in quicksilver, rendering them blind to worldly concerns, but able to keenly discern the impurities within the souls of any visitor. It was for this reason that when Aesma arrived, all one hundred and five scrambled with great speed from their watch towers and arranged themselves in battle formation.
>At first the saints were aghast, for they perceived very clearly that a being of tremendous evil was upon them, and wondered for a second if one of their prisoners had in fact escaped. But then they recognized Aesma, and a collective groan went up among them.
>“I’m here for the Red Eyed King!” proclaimed Aesma.
>>
>>83591045
Yes, there are many SJW/tumblr themes going on in the comic. Everything to do with White Chain is for sure but if you ignore it you will get some fun out of it. Most of it anyways.
>>
>>83617570
>“The King shall ne’er see the lands above again,” said one of the saints. “He has proclaimed his enmity against the forces of good in clear terms. He is a sun swallower and a world destroyer, a tyrant and a demon of pure malevolence.”
>“He sounds dreamy,” said Aesma, “when can I see him?”
The saints narrowed their silver eyes and set their spears as a thicket of blades against Aesma, for they knew her well. “Never!” they said in unison.
>“Great saints!” wheedled Aesma, “Please, have pity on a poor and desperate girl! I merely want to lay eyes upon this wicked king. Surely there must be some task I can accomplish to prove my worth to you?”
With great reluctance, the saints raised their spears a fraction of an inch, for there was an air of true desperation in Aesma’s voice. They entered into a hushed and grim discussion, for there was among them a general belief in redemption, no matter how small the chances. It was considered among many of the great gods of justice that Aesma was in fact an idiot, and shouldn’t be blamed for her wide and colorful list of transgressions against the common good.
>“Very well,” said one of the saints, “Here are your tasks. First, you will find the names of forty two men who truly have not sinned. For if you do not have the discerning eye to find purity amongst the decay of this world, then you do not have the means to pass through these halls with true intent.”
>“Ok,” said Aesma.
>“Then you must bring us the heart of a leviathan, which is only given to those righteous of purpose.”
>“Ok,” said Aesma.
>“You must know,” continued the saint, “You can not cut out the heart, or bring it by violence alone. It must be living, and we must see proof of its offering. Even the greatest of questing knights have been turned aside by one of the mighty beasts, for the smallest of evils.”
>>
>>83617630
>“Next, you will travel to the holy mountain of Saboth-Ur, where the monks of the Empty Voice keep the silence. For a year and a day you must dwell on that mountain and utter not a word. You must discard your possessions and go about naked as the day you were born, but rid yourself of all lustful ambitions and aspirations of the flesh. You must cast aside your battle consciousnesses and ancillary violence forms. You must rid yourself of the poetry of destruction, break your weapons, and purge the breath of death from within your lungs. Bring us then a token from the abbot there that proves you have undergone these trials. With the heart and token both, we will let you in to lay eyes upon the wicked King.”
>“This sounds too complicated,” protested Aesma, “Let’s fight instead.”
>So they did, to their great dismay. The battle lasted a day and a half. So much of Aesma’s molten blood was spattered above that it melted through three of the iron chains that held the Crucible in place and caused it to tilt. Later this would cause the Crucible to swing against the wall of the pit and crack, releasing a hundred and fifty of the world’s most evil beings onto the surface, who caused so much trouble that it took several wars and the participation of no less than twelve supreme gods of battle to recapture them.
>The saints were very powerful, and were able to slay at least five of Aesma’s war forms, but by the end of the fight, Aesma had hurled all of them into the pit, where they fell for seven hundred years before hitting the bottom and starting their arduous trek back up. She plucked the spears from her flesh and caved in the iron gate of the crucible and limped into its cramped and labyrinthine interior. There, inside, in the deepest pit, she beheld a tiny prison cage with bars made of red hot iron, so that they constantly burned their inhabitant. And kept inside that cruel cage, with charcoal-like flesh smoking, was the Red Eyed King.
>>
>>83617669
>He was truly, as Aesma saw, a being of quite singular evil. Though his skin was black from the fire, and cracked and red-raw from his prison, he did not flinch a bit from his torture. Tendrils of dark and oily vapor rose from his charred body, and he had the cruel face of a tyrant. But by far his most notable feature were his eyes, which burned with an insane and hungry red light. As Aesma saw his eyes, she saw instantly that they were sparks of an awful dark flame that would grow to consume the world if they were given kindling.
>They were pinpricks of the light of destruction that would shine at the end of the universe. It was for this reason that Aesma instantly fell in love with him.
>>
>>83617703
So I'm guessing that The Red Eyed King is (along with being a reference to red eye orbs from darksouls) Yisuns' desire for self destruction, that which lead to the gods suicide and what drives all those countless existences that are Yisun to kill one another.

Not that anon, but I've been playing a str/arc build for a little while now (after getting sick of DaS3) I have the wheel but I'm not certain what the deal is with the transformed L2.

KSBD is one of the few comics where the comments section is actually more interesting than anything I'd find on /co/ though.
>>
>>83591045
Running gag about the MC being a lesbian in denial which I'm hoping is true because her boyfriend seems like a useless shit and spunky demon fanfiction writer would be a far more interesting match for her and an angel that commits the grave sin of wanting to be humanoid (and female at that) when most of them are floating bags of eyes and feathers (and generally masculine).

The former is probably a joke, the latter makes some sense in context because it's a matter of over-exposure and empathy, and in the expanded lore touched on in the comments and so on, it may be more deeply related to the history of the world.

Tl;dr shit's kind of grand-scale, best to test the waters and see for yourself.

Where do people get that from? He was very encouraging in that beginning bit, especially considering that he knew Allison was nervous as hell but was still the one insisting they do it.

Heck, when she looked like she was gonna have a straight up panic attack he suggested calling it off.

Dude was less sleazy than Allisons' friends think, and a better person than everyone pushing for /u/ gives him credit for.
>>
>>83613113
When he says he would gladly take the wheel to her, does he mean he would gleefully bop White Chain to pieces they way he did Mr. Delicious, or is he saying he would much rather be accompanied by his mashing tire?
>>
>>83623844
Yes.
>>
>>83623792
He's useless because he's spent most of this comic in stasis with a bunch of extraplanar losers thinking he's the new god-king they're gonna puppet even though Zoss doesn't make mistakes.
>>
>>83595439
I love these stories but I always have to actually set aside time to read them all in one go.
>>
>>83623881
Except Zoss gave the key to Allison after his "death" at which point the rules no longer apply. No one could have guessed how things would have actually played out and fates' iron grip has been loosened.

Zaid would have been king, if Zoss still bothered playing by the rules as everyone else knows them.

I'm hoping that when(if) he does start doing something he ends up doing something cool and is not just a villainous sleazeball.

>Running gag about the MC being a lesbian in denial
No? That was in the original Adventure but it hasn't come up at all in this story. Not even hinted at.
>>
>>83623765
Later in the story Allison brings Maya back to earth and when they are in the mall Maya sees hot topic and falls in love.
>>
>>83623792
I wonder what he was like. He must have been the one who asked Allison to fuck since Allison would never work up the courage to do so. He's probably just a normal frat boy. Which is to say, sleazy but he doesn't want to commit rape.
>>
>>83624770
She is the one who in her own words 'scheduled losing her virginity'. So while he may have started things it was totally her decision to go to that step.
>>
>>83624294
If we ever do get to see him out of stasis, I think he'll panic and freak out a bit because of all the crazy things happening around him.

Maybe he'll get super turned on by amazon god-queen Allison.

Although, yes, she was a former Ebon. I hope this doesn't come as a surprise to you, though.

As for your alien question
>Q: i assume the fossil record and evolutionary history of hominids and humanity is just each planet's conforming to the human template created by the gods in the context of KSBD, but each world presumably has their own vast universe beyond them- is it even remotely possible for alien or non -human sentient life to evolve? i'm guessing probably not, or if it did they wouldn't have the same strength of soul or whatever as us good ol talking apes
>A: Each world in the Wheel is like a story being told by the gods. Some stories have giant, expansive universes, like ours. Some are just a single world, with no limits or boundaries. Some are worlds are flat and held up on the back of a turtle, or moebius strips. Some are an ocean that has no bottom.
>Theoretically, the only life that exists in creation comes directly from the Flame Immortal. Man exists as directly from God’s image, so in a sense, creationism is real in the KSBD universe. But who knows what God or Gods created our Earth? Maybe the story they’re telling is subtle and different.
>I’ve mentioned this in the monthly patreon hangouts, but Allison isn’t actually from our Earth, canonically. She is from an Earth almost exactly like ours, except Australia doesn’t exist.
So if aliens exist, they wouldn't have a fire like aliens, servants, angels, or devils. Perhaps they're like animals and only made from the "heat" given off by the fire, in which case, they'd just disappear in the void.
>Q: Are there other races born from black fire, other than humans and devils? Do animals have souls at all, and if yes, would they be black?
>A: Animals were made by the Beast Headed God from the effervescent heat of the Flame (and not the flame itself), so they do have souls of a kind, but they can’t exist in the void since their souls are too weak.
