After watching Apcialyose and seeing what Prof X and Magneto are capable of doing to the planet; is there anything really wrong about mutant registration /co/?
>>
>>83521966
There never was.
>>
>>83521966
What actually benefit does it offer the common people other than a means of pissing off super humans?
>>
>>83522407

A false sense of security with which to comfort themselves.
>>
How about they just stop fucking with Magneto?

You push him and he pushes back 1000x harder. Just leave that crazy nigga alone in the woods with his family.
>>
How about prison+mutant collar for just mutant assholes that break the law?
>>
>>83522522
It stops the current assholes, but breeds more uppity ones like Keller and Quire who start holding soap box speeches during lunch about becoming the next Magneto.

Good luck getting a collar on them once they know what's coming and are likely banking on it.
>>
Why do humans insist on lynching people who can literally destroy walls with their fucking eyes?
>>
>>83522697
Because Marvel pushes the minority analogy too hard.
>>
The problem is people like Magneto don't give a shit about the law requiring him to be registered and will keep doing what he does anyways. So instead they lock up the only people who can stop him because they're the ones that want to obey the law.
>>
>>83521966
Registration is more about forcing law abiding mutants into being lab rats/soilders than about actually protecting the public from mutants.
>>
Amazing. The movies managed to get into the same issues with power levels, retarded time lines and retarded common sense moral and political conflicts the comic books suffer.

I hope Death of X kills all versions of the x-men since they are fucking cancer.

Btw, it was Scott/jean and their time-traveling inter-dimensional dynasty who killed the x-men. I blame it on Scott being too boring and the writers having to pull stunts with his character and adding lost brothers, clones, wives, wive's clones and sons so he doesnt seem so boring. Last time they tried to make it relevant they made him into the man who was always right, AKA Magneto. Again, proving the actual Scott is just too plain and boring.

Cancel the x-men, both the movies and books.
>>
>>83521966

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the concept of Mutant registration, or Hero registration for that matter.

The problem isn't being registered. The problem is that they live in shitty comic book universes where those lists of identities and powers and other information WILL INEVITABLY either be hacked by villains or be misused by someone in power, resulting in needless deaths. Like there's no "well maybe that won't happen", it WILL happen because it's dramatic.
>>
>>83522981
It's funny that the MCU managed to make a comic style shared continuity work in movies. Yet both WB and Fox fail to translate them to film.
>>
>>83522934
I can't even object to that anymore given that a bunch of teenagers with maybe a couple weeks of training were able to stop Apocalypse. Why NOT fold them into the chain of command? We need checks against Magneto.
>>
>>83521966

Just trick Magneto with a wooden gun.
>>
>>83523143
>well maybe that won't happen
Realistically though why wouldn't it?
In a world filled with geniuses and evil organizations what else are they going to do with their time? Play nice?

If the heroes put themselves in a corner for the sake of the public they're asking to have a train ran on them, there's literally no reason it shouldn't happen. Info on informants, people in witness protection, projects, organizations, deals and agents undercover leak all the time in our world. If someone could blackmail a superpowered individual into doing dirty work or handing over genetic material for study or any kind of leverage worth more than any of the real world equivalents of power I don't see why they wouldn't pour resources into it.

Again. Nothing better to do.
>>
Why should gods bow down to the whims of insects?
>>
>>83523200
Uh no, the MCU actually managed to evade having a comic book style continuity.

Comic book continuity is shit. Fox one is actually like the comics books. Silly, incoherent, full of retcons and inconsistencies.

The MCU managed to have an actual continuity something the comic books will never ever get. Try following a single character in the marvel books. The same week (and all happening at the same time) the character will be dead, in space, sleeping, fighting world war 2 in the past.

When people say " they should be more like the comic books" its because they dont read comic books. Clearly.
>>
>>83523272
It's funny because the movie inadvertently makes a good point in that because the X-Men don't fall under any kind of authority Charles can let Erik walk off and no one can call bullshit on it.

The people in the factory who died and the family's of the people during the disaster receive no justice or conclusion, they just have to deal with this guy's tantrum. Shit Charles isn't going to do anything for them, he's good. Got his mansion back and everything.
>>
>>83521966
How many times we gotta go over this? In the Marvel universe the American government is actually doing every paranoid left-wing fantasy that's popped up in this world since Kennedy got shot. You have a Mutant Registration Act and the next thing you know President Kelly is herding mutants into extermination camps.
>>
>>83523486
To be fair the minute the Mutants have the tables turned in an alternate universe they're running humans through the same gauntlet without qualms.
>>
Weird thing is it's not like you have to legislate a registry of mutants. I'm sure the FBI would immediately start compiling a list of meta humans as soon as they emerged and what try an do in case they start breaking laws. The whole shitty thing about mutants is that they basically CAN'T hide.
>>
>>83522697
I'd assume there are a ton of mutants with useless or retarded powers.
>>
>>83523399
Actually Charles could just change the minds of everyone. There is no pain for the loved ones, if you dont remember them.
>>
>>83523713
Everyone? We saw Sydney being torn apart, and other cities too. Is he really going to try convincing the entire planet that half the cities on the planet only had half the population all the statistics have them listed as?
>>
>>83521966
It's a waste of taxpayer money.

Nothing's stopping Magneto from signing up and then just killing everyone involved in creating and enforcing the act. Then it'd just be mutant vs mutant again like it always had been.
>>
>>83523713

Well at that point he'd just be the villain.

I think that's even more morally reprehensible.
>>
>>83523810
Yes, why not?

>Xavier changes the memories of the people from remembering cars levitating to a regular earthquake with Cerebro
>Magneto deletes all the tapes of the world with worldwide magnetic interference
>Charles controls some geologist specialists and make them tell it was just a powerful Earthquake

Perfect crime. Could also molest Nightcrawler while celebrating the perfect crime and then mindwipe him again.
>>
Easy way
BORN
>TEST FOR X GENE
>POSITIVE
>NOTED ON YOUR CERTIFICATE BEFORE LEAVING HOSPITAL AND OR GIVEN CARD THEN IF POWER IS REACTIVE AT BIRTH
>ANNUAL CHECKUP INQUIRY FROM MUTANT SPECIALIST DOCTOR TO DEGREE AND STAGE OF POWERS
>THOSE WHO SHOW ONLY OF AGE OF POWER MATURITY ARE TESTED
>POWERS NOTED ON ID
>LIFE GOES ON AS NORMAL

Course then mutant books would rather dull if things were normal.
>>
>>83523970
except wouldn't The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 protect against such a thing?

https://www.eeoc.gov/laws/statutes/gina.cfm
>>
>>83523970
Don't see how. This is just noting the abilities of a person and the care that will be needed. It's not prohibiting them from anything.
>>
>>83523970
>POWERS NOTED ON ID
What ID? This is an anglo country remember, no identity cards.
>>
The US constitution states that a well regulated Mutie Militia is necessary for the people to retake control of the country in the event of the US Government becoming tyrannical. God you liberals are dumb.
>>
>>83522407
We'd have a list of actual powers I guess. That's always useful for datamining. So we know the breadth and range of possible mutant powers. We'd know which ones are common, and which ones are rare/one-off. So maybe healing factors, telekinesis, shapechange would be more common than metal manipulation or teleportation. Then we'd have the scale of these - so how many have healing factor level 1 and how fast that heals, all the way to bullshit Logan levels.

There's a lot you can do with mutant registration.

Might actually help the mutant community themselves. If the healers turn it into some sort of business, we'd know who to turn to, etc. They can better rearrange themselves/spread themselves out, etc.
>>
>>83522697
If your next door neighbor can suddenly explode and kill your entire family, and you had a way to get them out of your community...wouldn't you?
>>
>>83525174
I'd just move because fucking with them would still result in my house being blown up.
>>
>>83525393
I see you don't live next door to muslims.
>>
On an unrelated note, does anyone have Cyclops reading suggestions? I want to learn more about him,and the buzz he's been getting on /co/ lately made me interested
>>
>>83522455

holla
>>
>>83523579
That's one of the fascinating things I found about Onslaught, actually. He knew from Xavier and Magneto's minds that as long as humans ruled, mutants would be hated. When he got access to Nate's memory and saw that mutants proved no better when they were in charge, he went full "Fuck it, kill both sides, they deserve it!"

The thing that bothered me the most; at least right now as I watch this and OPs post

>Magneto saves a guy
>Dumbasses call the cops instead of keeping quite because they fucking SAVED their friend/co-worker
>Police proceed to fuck everyone over Magento loved
>Guy goes crazy

This isn't brain science here people
>>
>>83526131
>whats his name is Magneto
>we should turn him in
>but he save what's his name
>there's probably a reward
>we should definitely turn him in

what i don't get is what they were going to do after they caught him
