And who would be the target audience? The mainstream populous does not care about this old show from the 80s. It does not have the sheer nostalgia of Duck Tales, or thememetic potentialof Darkwing Duck. The only people that care about this series are a limited number of children who might give it a shot, or a bunch of old people who grew up with it. And combined, they won't make up a big number. If a movie is ever released, it is going to bomb no matter what, because there simply aren't enough people who will give a shit.
Which is why the comic revival was so successful. Everyone who cared bought it, and comics cost next to nothing to produce compared to movies. A cheap investment to please a small audience. Comics can succeed with a niche audience, while a movie must have a mainstream appeal.
Rescue Rangers does not have a mainstream appeal, and never will. Sad, but true.

I said it before a few times, might as well say it again. She was an attempt at creating a STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER and a good role model for girls, in a time where such characters were all overdone, overcompetent, and annoying.
For some strange reason, Gadget was not overdone, but barely. It's like the writers of the series' bible were wizards or something. She ended up ALMOST perfect, but not QUITE.

I think one of the key points is that, as far as I can remember, her gender is never brought up in relation to her skills, in neither a positive nor negative way. Nobody comments on how amazing it is that a girl is this smart or anything like that. She just IS, and everyone is tacitly aware that there's nothing earth-shattering about that.
