Because sure, why not.

Has anyone else seen the movies? Read through the comics? I recently watched through most of the movies (except Neverbeast) and sure, while they weren't as good as the recent Disney films, there were certainly a lot better than what you might expect with "little girl cartoons" in the U.S.

Does anybody know a good place to find the comics? I'd like to check them out, to see if they are worth picking up.
>>
>>83455096
There was a thread with comic links a while back. The western comics, not the manga.
>>
>>83456105
Really? Do you remember which one it was? A brief look through the archive didn't bring up a Tinkerbell thread and the Disney threads didn't seem to be about comics.

Do you happen to remember which thread it was?

I guess I'll be digging into the storage site for the links, then. Thanks for mentioning them.
>>
>>83456312
Sorry, I don't have the old links.
>>
>>83456436
That's okay. I'll take some time to hunt them down, and see if I can find something.

Neverbeast is pretty good. I'd say give it a watch, it's up there with SotW and Pirate Fairy for me. The films are pretty fun watches, as you said, nothing special but I enjoyed them.

It's a shame they got cancelled but it is what it is

I'm planning on checking it out, but in the place where I found the other movies, Neverbeast was gone. I'll just need to do a bit of hunting to locate it.

>>83457085
I dig them ears and general slenderness. Both are Disney, but it seems as though there is at least 100 years separating Pixie Hollow and Strange Magic.

Thanks >>83456105 again for pointing me in the right direction to find them.

At some point, the comics stopped being original stories, and just started cloning the films. Kinda tragic to have happen.
>>
>>83457085
It's probably on KissCartoon if you don't mind >streaming
>>
>>83456835
They got canceled??? Wtf?!
>>
>>83460373
They took a long break between films, and then used the resulting lul in toy sales as an excuse to divert Tink's resources over to the Planes franchise.
>>
>>83460478
Then they shut down the Planes franchise shortly after, didn't they?

Honestly when I first saw Planes I thought it was some shitty Cars knockoff made by some small time studio hoping to cash in on Cars success. It wasn't until someone told me it's from Disney did I realise they were milking it themselves. Suffice to say, I hadn't seen much of Planes, it just came across that way
>>
>>83460244
I've been watching them all by streaming up to this point, so I don't mind that. I'll probably give them a break for a month or so after seeing Neverbeast, and watch through them again to see if they're something I'd want to pick up.

>inb4 buying
They're something like $12 each on Amazon, and that's for the DVD/Bluray/digital versions. If it turns out I like them more than just a small passing fad, that's a decent price for them.
>>
>>83460618
Yeah KissCartoon will have it then. They don't like AdBlock so just click "play in device browser" under the video before you get the message telling you to disable it.

Neverbeast is a nice send off honestly
>>
>>83460560
The Planes movies are pretty bad, but I will say that the second film had gorgeous backdrops.
>>
>>83460822
The Tinkerbell films had some nice backdrops too, maybe it was their work
>>
>>83460995

Maybe some day? After all, Tinkerbell wasn't Pixar, but it wasn't a terrible franchise. They might get the idea to start working on it again.

Then again, between Disney Princesses and the Palace Pets, that might be quite a wait...

I liked Rani's Wings, but felt like it was the only one out of all these stories that really did much. Sure, they're all quite cute, but I was hoping for a bit more.

The fact that Periwinkle is a winter fairy while the others are not probably limits what they can do with her quite a bit. They couldn't have her running around with the rest of the cast without frosting everybody else's wings or doing something to preserve Peri's.

For the films, she appears in The Pirate Fairy. She gets a few more lines than a background character, but outside establishing who she is for the audience, she doesn't really do anything. Haven't seen Neverbeast yet (that's a goal for the day) but she probably has a similar role.

They probably wanted to keep things simpler. A wingless fairy would have it harder getting around with the whole group, who were frequently flying around and only landbound when necessary. Forcing a landbound character onto them would limit what they could be doing.

It would've been nice to see her on occasion even just chatting with Tink, though.

People have been saying this about basically every single little girl cartoon since horse. It's as if intended audience isn't all too important when it comes to the quality of a work. So PPG has no reason to suck when we have Sofia the First, Littlest Pet Shop, Life in the Dream house and Ever After High threads.

I was thinking more along the lines of "full of wind, since she is a wind fairy" but sure, crack cocaine works as well.
>>
So a fairy is born from a child's first laugh, right? And they die when that child stops believing in fairies? Fairies must have depressingly short lifespans.
>>
>>83480061
IIRC in the original stories, that was true and Tinkerbell was dead a mere year after Wendy left Neverland.

And Peter Pan, being who he is in the books, completely forgot about her.
>>
>>83480061
I don't remember the death being tied to the belief of the specific child that laughed them into existence. I think they just had very short lifespans, due to being small. They are fatally allergic to someone expressing disbelief. She dies in the original book from old age, but is resurrected by a wish in the canon sequel.

Apparently, a solid third of the fairy population, don't know whether they should be classified as a boy or a girl. It's not that they are half-way or that they have no sex, it's that whatever they are is completely baffling.

Tink had a lot of potential, before peter happened. Given a long enough lifespan, Neverland would have had internet connectivity. I like to imagine that Tink built the phonograph that the Strange Magic fairies use to play their Elvis records.

Fawn and asses are my favourites so this answer pleases me. It's nice they bothered to give them different shapes really, a lot of similar franchises wouldn't have bothered.

There's something I really like about the Fairies franchise even when I'm not ruining it's innocence with lewd thoughts though. The books have really nice illustrations too - I got a copy of "In the Realm of the Never Fairies" which is probably as close as you can get to a lore book after we had the last threads. I'm not sure if there's scans available for that so if anyone wants to know anything I could look it up or snap some pictures.

Not really.

The earlier comics were following the template of the books, telling original stories with existing character designs and setting.

Then they started shifting to the style of the movies, but the stories remained original, only shorter unlike the book based comics.

They did adapt some of the movies into comic, but even in the end they were still making their own little stories.

Peri doesn't show up for Neverbeast. Non of the Winter fairies do.

Again, for obvious reasons. The movie seems to be set in spring, and there's no much excuse to have them cameo.

Which is a shame, because that's the last movie of the franchise, but what's done is done.
>>
>>83480061

No, their lives are not connected to that child.

But ANYONE saying they don't believe in them can cause one of them to die.

In the original Pan lore fairies were very shortlived.

In the Fairies lore they seem to live relatively long lifespans, however.

Disney made their profits, and with Princess, Sofia and now Palace Pets, they won't bother with re-releasing the older books.

I don't know about that. Surely they would retain their design sense, even if they did have to work with plastic bottles and aluminum cans.

Remember when there were people on the internet that were angry that Tink owned a new outfit?

Thankfully no. Their different outfits are cute.
>>
>>83455096
Watched the movies when I was babysittying. They really were not bad at all. A shame they're getting canned since at least they're tolerable kids entertainment. It had a good world, interesting character designs, good voice work, and (the most important for me) not a brain-dead story. Sofia The First is atrocious in its story department.
>>
>>83515830
There was some woman with a political blog that thought that Tinkerbell's new outfit was upsetting enough that it deserved her ire.
>>
>>83503838

Yeah, the lore of the movies is very different than the lore of the books.
>>
>>83514480

Goddamn, that outrage was so fucking ridiculous.

Seeing their different seasonal outfits was half of the enjoyment for me.

It may not have been death to the fairy that was there to hear the words, but somewhere some pixie could have just dropped dead in the field.
>>
>>83516952

Yeah, I recall the death being random.

One more reason to dislike the third movie (man, they fucking botched the morals there).
>>
I, for one, would have liked a few more PHG specials.

>sudden fairy death syndrome
Man, that's harsh. You're out with your fairy friends and one of them just fucking drops dead all of a sudden and everyone's like "Well shit, thanks again cynical humans".

You'd think at some point the Queen would decide to fucking invade the human world and MAKE them believe, also make them pay for the ongoing fairy genocide they perpetuate.
>>
>>83517221

Don't quote me on that.

My knowledge of the Pan/Fairies lore is cursory outside of the Tinkerbell movies..

By now, there are too many pesticides for the Fairies to visit the mainland anyhow. They will have to fly around in little hazmat suits.

They have no cleavage in the front, but they have this figure from the side. I'm going to suggest that this is wing muscle. That's basically how it works with professional swimmers.

Okay, rate the movies /co/. I haven't seen them all yet and I want to know which ones people like best
>implying I won't end up watching them all anyway
>>
>>83532143
>Okay, rate the movies /co/.

Probably something like:
>Legend of the NeverBeast
>The Pirate Fairy
>Secret of the Wings
>Lost Treasure
>Tinker Bell
>Great Fairy Rescue

They pretty much kept improving over time. The first Tinker Bell might be a bit too generic, but Lost Treasure was a nice little adventure and they were really getting good around The Pirate Fairy. I still have a soft spot for Secret of the Wings, anyways. The only stumbling block was Great Fairy Rescue, which I felt bungled its message a bit.

I'd recommend watching them in order, though, if at all possible. Some movies can be a bit spoilery towards previous movies, kind of casually giving away the big plot twists in some conversations. If you just want the highlights, then Pirate Fairy/NeverBeast are definite watches and I'd recommend Secret of the Wings as well, possibly first. Then check out Lost Treasure and on down the list, if you are interested.

Thanks for the reply Anon I thought the thread was going to die and I was just going to let it happen this time.

I've seen the original movie and Secret of the Wings so far. I'll just get on with the rest in order if none of them are really bad.

I didn't like the Neverbeast one that much because it is focused on one Fairy and the generally sad tone.

Glad this is still up, I'll probably take WebM requests from the films if you want anything

Chances are after this thread I'll be getting the movies off my drive so won't really make more

There is no way to save this franchise now, correct?
>>
>>83539388
It's been dead for a 1.5 years now.
>>
>>83539572
No chance of revival whatsoever?
>>
>>83539604
Neverbeast was released in December 2014. We heard about the cancellation of the franchise in early 2013, iirc. They only finished it because it was in production at that point.

If they were to suddenly decide to revive the franchise right on this nanosecond, it would take until at least 2018 before anything would come out.

And they probably didn't cancel it just for the hell of it, the franchise was unprofitable or close enough.

Like all of their properties, Disney will wheel it out when they think they can make money off it again.

Don't get too attached to how the characters look though, because I imagine they'd probably redesign them.
>>
>>83539694
It's kinda crazy they decided to cancel the series after is started becoming more profitable. Secret of the Wings made double what the earlier films took apparently on the same budget, with Pirate Fairy a close second.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/how-tinker-bell-became-disneys-692559

I imagine Neverbeast only did so poorly because by then the decision had been taken and it was barely promoted.
