I'm out. I'm an oldfag (34). I remember Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis, Final Crisis (which had bizarrely the least effects on DC canon afaik despite being the biggest Crisis since COIE), & Flashpoint/Nu52.
I honestly just can't keep up or get straight in my head who DC characters are anymore and their histories. It's honestly too much with too many versions and retcons that I am totally lost upon reading almost any DC book nowadays.
I also don't think Johns really understood Watchmen as it was the story, plot, world, etc that were important. The characters were just ciphers or archetypes used for the story.

There was a resolution to the Pandora stuff in her Future's End tie in, which was basically a finale for her series. I don't even remember it well though, but it turns out that the sins were aspects of her, and they often fought among themselves and the winner recreated the world. Current Pandora finally remembers the pre-reboot stuff and decides to stop it all by killing all versions of herself. Of course, now with her getting randomly killed here that Future's End issue means nothing.
Even before that though, it was always odd because the Pandora thing didn't really line up with the actual DC reboots we had seen, aside from Flashpoint, and were just a bunch of reboots that only existed according to that story itself.

This is why in Applachia everyone has such weird nicknames like, Slick, Stretch, Bubba, Curly Top, etc. Since everyone has the same name you need some nickname to differentiate all the people.
West Virginian here, can confirm. There's a lot of "Junior"s and "the Second/Third" suffixes attached to names, and nicknames to otherwise differentiate.

Well, the bronze age did a complete 180 on comics as they came out of the super silly just for kids fun zone and entered into the actually telling a real story phase.
so in that sense it was a marked improvement over the silverage, it would have overshadowed any angst fans may have had over the characters changing since it really truly moved the stories forward.
this is different scenario, this time instead of moving the story forward they rebooted it, and it was a different reboot from COIE in that this actually wiped out previous continuity instead of merging it. Even after COIE in the Post-Crisis era shit moved forward, things still changed an characters grew.
52, for the last 5 years has done fuck all except retell stories, and retell them worse. They didn't improve upon anything, nothing moved forward characters reverted back, etc.
That's where 52 fucked up, maybe now things can continue to move forward like they did before instead of running in place writing fan-fiction tier retellings of 75 years of prior backstory.
