The way that I assume the room is set up is that the couch faces the television. It would therefor be all but impossible to show both the TV screen showing the character in question and to show the wife character's faces. Since they weren't in the previous panels, they would have to be established and have their faces shown otherwise the reader might assume that it was Gabe and Tycho still.
I would also like to point out that only the purple haired one is looking at the TV. The redhead is looking at the other girl for some reason. If she's supposedly enthralled by this sexy man character on the screen, why isn't she looking at him?
