I don't have a favorite but I always saw Judy saluting Nick when he graduates as a reference to Nick wanting to be a ranger. I believe this because no one saluted Judy during her graduation. That's my headcanon at least

That Nick made his mom think he was going to scout meetings whenever he went out as a way to avoid disappointing her after spending so much on the uniform. To make it more convincing, he'd fake letters, brochures, badges, etc. This would in turn develop the scamming skills he would use later in life.
