I actually really enjoy Slugterra, but you need to give it through most of the first season to get through world building and the pokemon of the week format before it starts rolling. Then it turns into a badass Journey To the Center of the Earth cowboy/Texas Rangers vs a cool villain thing. Then at the very end it kind of jumps off the rails, and the movie doesn't really help any. But still pretty good. I enjoyed all of it, just saying the first part may be too slow for some people to enjoy.

Up until Best Machines, Beast Wars did that. It was clear that while Black Arachnia did care for Silverbolt, she was mainly looking out for her own interests when she joined the good guys. Joining the Maximals was just a survival strategy as she'd buggered up her chances with the Predacons and after realizing where they were and the true consequences their actions could have changed her desires from ruling to surviving.
I've sure been getting a lot of opportunities to post her lately.

Storm Hawks was a fun show with an original concept, a competent but underused villainess who was underused probably because in the episodes she acted personally she was nigh unstoppable.
The only real flaw was something many action cartoons suffer from with episodic "crisis of the week" bullshit.

She's never been depicted as malicious, just enjoying a thrilling heist, like Lupin the 3rd. As for whether she's just setting up lowly criminals to be the fall guys is hard to say, though it would be a cool angle to see in a new series; her occasionally fixing things so her weakest henchmen get nabbed and gradually weed out the weak links for a stronger pool of loyal thugs.
