Maybe not Krypton exploding, but the fact that the story ends in such a sad note, especially regarding this new character Lyla. I was expecting it to pull some excuse for her to survive or still comunicate with Superman or something, but I guess I underestimated it.

Brainiac 2 was the fake son of Robo-Brainy who travelled back to Colu and defeated the Computer Tyrants
I like to imagine Robot Brainiac experimented on him a bit to make him a little smarter/longer lived than the other Coluans.

Maybe fake son, it's unclear if he's a clone or the actual child of Brainiac after all the retcons. But he's (usually) a 10th level intellect as opposed to Brainiac's originally 12th level and the Coluan average of 8th level or w/e it is right now.
Though last I checked they all live for like 600-800, longer with cybernetic implants, so it's not like he'd need to do anything about that.
Since this thread is still alive I'm storytiming the next issue in wich Brainiac teams up with Clayface.
