People working for the channel keep saying that Cartoon Network shows are given an inordinate amount of creator control ever since that proved a successful formula with Adventure Time, so it's probably the case that most of the blunders that come out of the channel are equally due to less talented creators being left almost entirely to their own devices.

That is true. The latest Spongebob episodes haven't been good enough for me to keep up with watching em but I've caught a few and they are not at all awful. Not the same, and not brilliant like those 3 great seasons, but beyond passable and I'm sure kids would like em fine. The HD animation is way more fluid and good-looking then most of the post-movie seasons, and the designs look right surprisingly, about the same as season 3. Also the grossout shit that crept in to the show after the movie is gone as far as I've seen.

Well, I knew that this show was irredeemable pretty early on. It just also has the added anti-bonus of being easily segue-able into "grrl power," which is too unstable of a topic these days, especially for a team of amateurs who aren't Craig/Lauren/Gennedy.
I'm just watching old shit right now. (Last night I went back and saw some old Robot Jones episodes for the first time in at least a decade.) I'll probably only watch Loud House and the new SU episodes (but SU is going to have to be completely isolated from its corrosive fanbase.) nuPPG is a hundred times worse then TTG anon. Sure the animation in TTG is an incredible downgrade but it's watchable, always consistent and has some visual gags were they actually do have good art for a couple frames.

That said, I'm interested in seeing how the crossover goes. TTGo! is basically nuPPG done better. It knew to break from the original as much as it could to make it clear they're different. NuPPG, on the other hand, is walking around in the immaciated corpse of the original to try and get nostalgia points.
I'm hoping we got another SU/UG crossover on our hands here: with the TTGo! writers taking their crack at what modern PPG should be and making it at least bearable and possibly even enjoyable in parts.

Why are they keep doing that? Yes new shows not targeted for the older generation, the originals were when we where young. But that doesn't excuse faults in your work, using recent trends as easy jokes or just ripping off others.
Not mention why is a bad thing of trying to make a larger appeal? Pixar, dreamworks, SU, avatar, the show-that-shall-not-be-named, and plenty more appeal all ages and they thrive. They have name called "intergenerational animation" for this approach.
If they have an excuse about budget then that full of shit too, plenty off people have done great work with limited resources and budget.
