Is this the best webcomic on the internet? I just read all of it so far and I want to give Michelle money.
>>
it's really good
>>
>>82472931
Gunnerkrigg Court and Prequel.
>>
>>82472931
Yes
>>
>>82472931

It's good, but not Unsounded good.
>>
Times I wish my other favorites like Flaky Pastry and Zebra Girl got more love here. Especially since both are over 10 years old now.

Not enough underaged girls for /co/, I guess.

>best webcomic
It's good, but there are others many would say are superior (in addition to Gunnerkrigg Court, Unsounded and Prequel):

Kill Six Billion Demons
Derelict
Octopus Pie

I don't know about "best webcomic on the internet" right now, but I gave it a shot because of your post after all this time, and I don't regret it yet.
>>
>>82477040
Kill Six Billion Demons is just a whole lot of nothing. A gorgeous whole lot of nothing, but it wouldn't be worth mentioning without its art.
>>
>>82477040
I don't trust anybody too proud and stubborn to put at least Problem Sleuth on there.
>>
It's good. People will say the writing is shit, but it was also literally written by a teenager and probably hasn't been changed since then. The best? I doubt it. I'm hesitant to say anything's the best, even if it is my favorite.

I like it because it's giving "inner" demons manifest, and so far it's shaping up to be some great revenge fantasy for the creator. Assuming Ava is Michelle's self-insert. That's not a stretch, is it?
>>
>>82477156
The writing isn't anything special, but it's not really bad, either. It's average animated film quality, I woudn't be displeased with it.

I do think Wrathia's curse scheme was heinously stupid and it stretches my suspension of disbelief to think she ever thought that was a good idea, though.
>>
>>82477067
This scene gave me a fetish for women talking naked on the phone.
>>
>>82477040
>Derelict
Has that updated lately? I stopped reading it because the story didn't seem to be going anywhere and the update schedule was near nonexistent.
>>
>>82477238
I didn't say the writing is bad. I agree with you, it's alright. Not great, not terrible. Am I wrong for wanting a short series or a movie or something after she finishes the comic?

>I'm on the top 3 list of most powerful beings in the universe
>Bigger fish comes to fuck me up
>I'll kill myself to overtake a more powerful lifeform
Yea, that plan was kind of stupid. The only benefit that she gleaned from the pact is now she's borderline immortal, but she's at Ava's whim. Kind of lucked out getting someone who has nothing to live for, so she might as well go along with Wrathia's plan. I'm anticipating a plot point where Ava might be tempted to join the followers because she can finally have the life that Wrathia never allowed her to have. Seems doubtful after the stunt she's currently pulling

I did a version of that chart with different thumbnails.

Mostly because the grid didn't seem to have a consistent size and that rustled my autism.

>>
>>82483280
Tumblr ruins fucking everything I swear. I wish Michelle would do more of her responses like she did with Maggie. It's always the vocal retards who ruin it for everyone, isn't it? How it's always worked for me, at least.
>>
>>82484838
It's always the vocal ones. Almost all of the porn was made by one artist to begin with. At least they're really good.
>>
>>82481976
SSSS has good art, atmosphere, and setting combined with abysmal character design and writing.
>>
>>82485863
This. That's not to say it doesn't have redeeming factors, but god damn the characters are bland in both writing and design. The backstory and setting are a thousand times more interesting.
>>
>>82472931
It's one of the better ones but I prefer Riceboy/Vattu, Kill 6 Billion Demons, Unsounded and Gunnerkrigg.

Ava's Demon has great artwork but I find its story and cast really run of the mill. I don't care about anything thats going on or the world, I just want to see gorgeous full page spreads.
>>
So what's all this Ava's Demon Kickstarter drama I've vaguely heard about? I'm interested now that I've caught up.
>>
>>82487009
Don't know any drama specifically about the kickstarter, besides idiots who complain about the comic going into hiatus whilst Michelle makes the kickstarter rewards.

Horror.

What made it worse is somebody made an audio bit of the 'Que Sera, Sera' playing whilst we hear Ava's breathing and the drips and machinery of Prudith being operated on. Wish I had the link on me.

>What made it worse is somebody made an audio bit of the 'Que Sera, Sera' playing whilst we hear Ava's breathing and the drips and machinery of Prudith being operated on.
To elaborate, I believe that's the song playing when it actually happens (in comic). You can see the staff with the notes on it in the background
>>
>>82487813
Lots of people losing their shit, if I recall. Fun thread. That was, what, a year ago at this point? Ava would be better if not for the frequent hiatuses.
>>
>>82477040
Does fanboys update its been a while?

I remember following it in the early 2000's or so. Back when it had a shittier artstyle. stopping around when the artstyle improved but ran headlong into a hiatus.

Last I heard the guy did artwork for extra credits for a while.

It's quite good, but not the best.

I'd say Unsounded, Lackadaisy, Kill Six Billion Demons, and Vattu are better, and that I prefer Prequel, Gunnerkrigg Court, Poppy O'Possum, and Derelict. Digger is also probably better, but completed.

Still, it has some damn fine art.
>>
>>82477040
>>82480463

So much boring shit. Guilded Age, really?

And that NSFW column is 66% crap.
>>
>>82490340

Gunnerkrigg Court is going nowhere. It feels like each plot thread is only advanced a step every 5 chapters, but there is no overall story.
>>
>>82486621
The whole comic is basically metro 2033 / Stalker with a tumblr aesthetic, which I have mixed feelings about. I looks fucking great and the lore is cool, but goddamn, the characters are just cutesy, quirky cardboard cutouts. I'll give the artist credit for updating 5 times a week though, I've never seen that in any other comic I've read.
>>
>>82472931
It's in my top 3
I can't really assign an order, but the three for me is Lackadaisy, Kill6BillionDemons, and Ava's Demon.

I started getting into the comic around the time the Kickstarter had finished or closed last year. If I recall, the kickstarter was to allow the author to focus on working webcomic (since she already had finished the story but just needed to draw it out now). I think it was around that time that she had started going on hiatus for long periods of time although she's currently making updates every time she finishes 10 pages right now.
>>
>>82490340
A bit off-topic but I see updates for Unsounded every now and then. What's makes that popular?

Ava's Demon is great, but nothing can beat SBaHJ at achieving perfection of what it is.
>>
It's super slow. They're still on namik.
>>
>>82472931
It's very pretty but the writing is mediocre. It's got things it does better than most everyone else, but overall there are many better comics.

Gunnerkrigg's plot is moving slowly but steadily. Chapters clearly advance an idea and show evidence of plotting. Updates are always on time.

Ch.51 --> 57: Annie's father comes back, she emotionally mutilates herself, and grows as a person. One chapter is devoted to Kat's robot subplot and another is a single page long. We also find out what the hell happened to her dad; a mystery that has been speculated about for years. The subplot with the rabbit and the fairy has also moved forward.

>>82490756
Great art, great characters, great plot. Plays with the webcomic medium occasionally. Attack zombies, eugenics, communism, eldritch abominations, and more.
>>
>>82490756
Updating regularly is a good way to get a loyal fanbase by itself. It's also got nice art, an intriguing setting, and an endless parade of entertaining characters. It's actually not too "popular" in the sense that a lot of people read it. Everyone who reads it likes it and everyone who doesn't like it can't find anything terrible enough to make themselves known. They just don't read it.
>>
>>82477040
>romantically apocalyptic
now that used to be good before it got bogged down in lore.
>>
>>82481976
But it is there. Under Fantasy.
>>
>>82490675
This actually is the wrong music and I'd be curious to see what the uploader was thinking.
>>
>>82491063
Agreed with your points on Gunnerkrigg.
I get what Tom's doing with the rabbit/fairy, but I just don't care about them. I want more adventures and Parley/Smitty and lesbians and Annie drama.
>>
>>82472931
Gunnerkrigg Court best webcomic 2016
>>
My problem with Ava's Demon is the problem all serialized story webcomics have: the comic has been a thing for years, and yet the story's barely gotten off the ground yet. The medium is essentially cursed; a webcomic is pretty much the worst, least reliable way to deliver a serialized story. If you don't have the work ethic of a machine, you really should look for alternatives.
>>
>>82493087
the rate webcomics go at takes a lot time and takes some getting used to
and thats at least tripled by michelles storyboard-esque paneling
not sure if theres a better way to do it though
>>
>>82493087
It depends how it's constructed. People whine about Gunnerkrigg's pacing but that because it's meant to read in chapters instead of page by page. Plus time passes between most chapters, so we follow the characters for years of their lives.

Ava's Demon has the people of being one long string of events. It's been 4 years and only 2 days have passed for the characters.
