That's not exactly true. The world is obviously a reflection of her mental state, so she has no control over the things created by her subconsciousness.
If they have continuity and it will be about her growing up with her inner world changing accordingly. It will be very different from Adventure Time.

There was an episode about a pony who really wanted to be a unicorn. Beforehand producers of the show advertised it as an episode about transgender issues and shit like that. The episode ends with the pony finding out he was actually a unicorn, but just didn't know, sending trans SJWs the wrong message and they started to freak.Then it turned out the episode was never meant to be about that and the producers were making shit up just to pander to them.
