even though his inking skills are pretty good, inking has lost it's importance in the mainstream comic industry making miller's art outdated.
if he had better fundamentals he would still be able to work without embarrassing himself

He has a point. There are bad and mediocre artists present in the comic industry even today but at least they are few levels higher than Miller.
