Actually, if you go compare, the way Shen draws the side faces has been becoming less and less flat.
Also, during this "Violet arc" she has been drawn with bigger eyes, and this update is the biggest they've been by far.
I don't mind the eyes being bigger, as long as the artist keeps it in a limit (like in this page) it makes her cuter but without cutting out the intimidation.
But in op's image they're too big, although the rest of that pic seems to have a loose style overall (silly proportions on Charlie, her hair is less accurate, etc), so it may only be a temporal thing to make that situation more adorable or something.
