This short was a meme among bronies during MLP's first season. Yaridovich would put it on in his Synchtube in-between every run of episodes. It was also the source of "confound these ponies, they drive me to drink," which I think is still in a lot of articles on memes generated by the show, even though no one uses it anymore.

Really, there's a lot of elements that make perfect sense in the context of a parody. The Dover Boys are given surface traits and designs to distinguish them but they're actually basically a singular entity, and despite being college students, they act like ten-year-olds. Dan Backslide is completely hapless and harmless despite his attitude, and his scheme is both transparent and really poorly thought-out. Dora is placed in a situation that she could escape by herself with total ease.
And Larry, the youngest of the three jerks-err, boys.
