Last season kind of killed me. Combination of cutting Stoneheart due to 2magic but then having fireballs and skeletons at the finale, putting actualy Sansa in the North, and reinforcing Stannis' character then doing a 180 on it in like 3 episodes.

They've already started trainwrecking Dorne this season. I watch, but not optimistically.

>>
>>82395513
>epic fantasy
The differences between subgenres of fantasy are mostly totally opaque to me. Not sure what makes high vs. low vs. epic, etc.
>>
>>82395412

Dorne was always a trainwreak. It really was the same thing as the book but the book was more in depth and I found it funnier. I'm hinging a lot on what happens to Sansa actually, if she becomes super damsel in distress I'll be so mad. I never cared about Stannis
I think I'm also straddling a line of investment where I wanna keep watching but at a distance

>>82395421

3 is shit happening. 4 and 5 are War is Hell for everyone and also subplots that might matter might not.

I'm probably better with it in comics. Two comics I'm reading are likely to graduate to epic fantasy in their finale but because they started off more grounded and they've teased hints of metaphysics I find interesting, I expect to be more invested in it.

Morality of characters is rarely a reason why I'm interested in them, but you're right in that he killed off too many plot drivers without considering their replacements.

The biggest fuck you, reader in terms of the books is maybe the Arya and Sandor fakeout? There's no reason to have that in the book beyond shock value and it's like midway through the novel.

I read a Washington Post profile of him that was pretty revealing. But yeah, I think he's just trolling to troll by now, and that mentioning him next to Berganza is pretty offensive.

There's this ridiculous denial out there that 1) any women would like his art 2) that his variants (which are btw basically his first real DC work) would help Wondy sales
>>
>>82395572
High Fantasy = Lots of weird fantasy shit. (Alternate world or weird real one)
Low Fantasy = Less weird fantasy shit. (Real world or realistic fantasy one)
Epic Fantasy = Grand, world-shaking events.
Heroic Fantasy = Focused on the champions rather than the events.

Can be blended. There's a ton more, but those are the important ones. GRRM's world is probably closest to a Epic Low Fantasy.

Second is Kill Six Billion Demons.

They both have occasional writing problems you would expect in someone doing their first big personal project but for my money they're pretty much the best in the game as far as webcomics go (there's some equivalent stuff). Unsounded in particular does some wonderful shit with page-breaking.
