Hello patricians of /co/, today I am here to teach you all about good comics, for obvious reasons I will not be posting any capeshit.

Firstly here is Krazy Kat, in many ways the strip that started it all

And here's a predecessor that, while not recognized as much as Krazy Kat in its own time, but nevertheless Little Nemo has gone on to inspire many great comic book artists

Now let's jump forward to the 60s/70s (The Underground Comix era), where after everyone got fucked by the harsh restrictions of the comic code authority a few people dared to make actual art

While Robert Crumb is probably the face of comix, my personal favourite comic from the era is this one by Victor Moscoso (who Crumb discovered and who worked on Zap Comix with him)

Spain Rodriguez was another of Crumb's recruits

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine Zap is one of the longest running comics of all time since the final issue was only released this year.

In the UG era, as well as the anthologies, there were countless great single-author titles. My personal favourite is Guy Colwell's Inner City Romance.
>>
I can't show much of it because it's a very NSFW comic, but there is some great psychedelic imagery and a lot of sex.

Soon after Zap, on the tail-end of the UG Comix era, was Art Spiegelman's Arcade (the Maus guy).

Crumb contributed a fair amount to it, including most of the covers.

This Arcade strip is by Kim Deitch, who is still fairly active today.

Except for me.

I hope you learned your lesson, OP. Don't be a smug elitist next time.

Love me some Spain Rodriguez!

Deitch is literally one of the best storytellers ever. So fucking underated. Always in the shadow of Crumb, Shelton, Wilson and the rest. He got a new book in the works though.
