Has there been any use of internet culture/memes in a cartoon (excluding South Park that has a production time of like a week) that wasn't extremely outdated and cringeworthy?
The only example I can come up with is in The Amazing World of Gumball, where Darwin refers to superhero fans as "fedora-wearing neckbeards".

literaly the only thing i can think of was the winter is coming in tanks for the memorys and even that was divisive

And now we wait.

im honestly saddened that i couldent think of anything else normaly if you put it in in the middle of a larger list nobody cares you get to list everything and arguments are avoided but i could not think of a single other example and its driving me mad.

Wait what? What episode was this?

Yes, every such occurrence before 2005.

>"fedora-wearing neckbeards".
I cringed at that one.

Gumball has a lot of memes but they're usually so quickly delivered that there isn't time to dwell on the potential cringe.

Oh there was an episode where Alan constantly went into a Yaranaika face when he was being saintly. It was clearly a reference to the meme but in context of the episode it was just there to be his mature, good-natured face.
This one made me laugh. The meme's pretty old by now, but I don't see it referenced too often, which must have made it okay for me. That and it just caught me by surprise and it makes sense in context.

This is a good example of it, actually.
1: The meme was old enough by then that it was more of a deliberate "vintage" reference than it was a "LOOK HOW HIP AND CURRENT WE ARE???" sort of thing.
2: It wasn't at the cost of a joke, and it wasn't really a joke in and of itself. The worst-used memes in cartoons are the ones where they think they can substitute actual humor for references, akin to Seth McFarlane going "HAHA I MADE AN 80S REFERENCE, GET IT?" This was just a quick set of frames in which the little GottaGoFast dude was featured, but he wasn't supposed to BE the joke. He wasn't the focus.

because it's true, no?

Never seen it, kinda dropped the show during season 3, only watching the origin story episode after. Was the episode at least decent?
Homestar Runner

>winter is coming
Wouldn't that just count as a reference?

I still think it's one of CN's best. If you liked The Origins, you'll at least enjoy the rest of the season.
>"Ice bear likes turtles"
I'd say that's vintage enough to be tasteful.

WBB handles internet culture pretty well
e-celebs are basically treated like celebrities at this point

yeah it was more of an easter egg than a forced meme
