Can we have one of these threads? Just cuts of comic panels with good/bad feels? Superman preferred but other characters are good too.
Pic related is my all time favorite

My favorite part of the DOOM arc
>>82356703
I love this one
>>82355279
Oh God this one gets me every time.
Not simply because Pa Kent is dying, but just the idea that Clark has been constantly listening to his parents' heartbeats for essentially all his life, and in spite of everything that he hears every day, he STILL notices when one heart out of billions of humans' hearts stops.
>>82355245
Not all Superman feels come from the comics themselves.
i need more

Don't understand why more stories and panels from the 2013 run of The Adventures of Superman don't make this thread. I could post 50 great images from probably 20% of that run.

This was a great story. Shame the animated version didn't use something like this as well as the nice Clark comes to visit Billy and reveals he's also got a secret.
How does this make you feel, /co/?
>>82355342
n52 Lois is the worst.
Also why the fuck is she so enormous in that center panel?
>>82364313
It's a nice story but it was essentially JMS replacing essentially a randomly but adorable written animal for Krypto. There are plenty of images along the feels created in these panels (and I do agree with you that Superman Earth One had a lot of really good images in all three volumes, interspersed with the more problematic ones/themes) such as this from Convergence Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes.
>>82362002

Forget Snyder for a second, remember when they actually implicitly incorporated this moment into Nu52, turned Regan into a singer who turned her life around thanks to Supermanthen had her killed by the Phantom King?
>>82362212
And here is what any hardcore Batman would never accept - Superman can easily and comfortably say to Bruce 'you're the best' but whenever there is a scene where Batman is showing as stating something (as with Justice League v1 Origin or even in Worlds' Finest v6 Secret History of Superman Batman that the planet needed Superman and they can't accept that as something Bruce would (much less need to) say.

Pretty much this whole issue.
>>82368732
God I love Bibbo.
>>82368013
What is this?
>>82365883
Is that not the worst super feel of them all? We will never get a proper World's Finest on the big screen.
But we'll always have the books.
>>82368821
i love it when superman fucks around with batman because he knows he is the only one who can get away with it and take bruce down a notch
>>82368893
Its better because Bruce doesn't let him get away with it out of fear, but because he genuinely loves Clark as a friend, and lets him have his fun, because deep down Bruce enjoys the big of fun that Clark brings to his life. I imagine if Bruce's parents were still alive, they would have treated Clark like family.
What single image best embodies Superman?
>>82369127
Maybe this one? I just find it great that you can put him anywhere (Smallville, USSR, Nazi Germany) and he'll still be a guy that wants to help everyone
>>82369127
This one
>>82368306
>>82368759
We're not really getting many new books with pages like these, though: >>82369127, >>82369182 - even the Jurgen's Lois & Clark run so far doesn't really have anything like these - some nice moments of family, sure and yes I understand that Superman is suppose to be under the radar, but still.

Adventures of Superman: 46,47,48. Strange Visitor. Amazing few issues, really worth the read.
>>82368807
Damn I need to read All Star Supes again, I didn't even remember that panel. By the way, here's another great scene that was missing from the animated movie
>>82368833
He knows.
Quote from Grant Morrison.
>In the end, I saw Superman not as a superhero or even a science fiction character, but as a story of Everyman. We’re all Superman in our own adventures. We have our own Fortresses of Solitude we retreat to, with our own special collections of valued stuff, our own super–pets, our own “Bottle Cities” that we feel guilty for neglecting. We have our own peers and rivals and bizarre emotional or moral tangles to deal with.
>I felt I’d really grasped the concept when I saw him as Everyman, or rather as the dreamself of Everyman. That “S” is the radiant emblem of divinity we reveal when we rip off our stuffy shirts, our social masks, our neuroses, our constructed selves, and become who we truly are. Batman is obviously much cooler, but that’s because he’s a very energetic and adolescent fantasy character: a handsome billionaire playboy in black leather with a butler at this beck and call, better cars and gadgetry than James Bond, a horde of fetish femme fatales baying around his heels and no boss. That guy’s Superman day and night.
>Superman grew up baling hay on a farm. He goes to work, for a boss, in an office. He pines after a hard–working gal. Only when he tears off his shirt does that heroic, ideal inner self come to life. That’s actually a much more adult fantasy than the one Batman’s peddling but it also makes Superman a little harder to sell. He’s much more of a working class superhero.
>American writers often say they find it difficult to write Superman. They say he’s too powerful; you can’t give him problems. But Superman is a metaphor. For me, Superman has the same problems we do, but on a Paul Bunyan scale. If Superman walks the dog, he walks it around the asteroid belt because it can fly in space. When Superman’s relatives visit, they come from the 31st century and bring some hellish monster conqueror from the future. But it’s still a story about your relatives visiting.
>>82369818

The only message is "honest people are dumb for being honest", they should give it a chance and try to do some crime, after all if they show that they are incompetent and "didn't really mean harm!" it's fine.

>>82371962
they aren't really criminals just people heading down a bad path. they didn't have bullets in the guns because they didn't want to hurt anyone. they probably didn't even want to commit the crime, just wanted to get a way out of their everyday problems with money
>>82372002
You do know that Islam didn't invent headcoverings, right?
>>82372208
well it was a symbolic way for Superman to show his gratitude to his friends so it would have been strange if Batman paid for it
>>82371962
Seems to me you'd prefer Judge Dredd's justice over Superman's.
The situation really only works because he's Superman and can see that the gunmen don't pose any real threat; a real cop would have to either arrest them or kill them. Still, is it not better that two people who made an impassioned mistake get to make up for it rather than rot in prison for 10-15 years or, you know, die?
>>82372002
At this rate it will outlive all of us.

And if Superman wasn't there they would have kept going.
Committing a crime is not a mistake, it's a voluntary act. They decided to go against the law willingly and thus deserve to be punished, only because they stopped before doing damage it doesn't mean they did nothing wrong.
Like I said this is a fuck you to the suckers that don't even think about committing crimes.
>>82372648
you can absolutely commit a crime by accident
>>82372648
There are such things as crimes of passion, you know. You're correct, it's doesn't make it 'right' to commit a crime. But there's a clear difference between the men Superman stopped and, say, unrepentant serial criminals such as Joker, Luthor, and the like.

No there isn't.
This picture >>82372487 did it right, the guy is clearly just sperging out so it's fine to just stop him.
The people in OP's picture are different, they planned their actions, thought about it, took their guns, their blaclavas and planned their crime. They are criminals at all effects.
>>82373144
Well Gamera is a friend of children.
>>82369818
Dammit, Grant, can't you see I'm trying to hate you?
>>82373396

>Committing a crime is not a mistake, it's a voluntary act. They decided to go against the law willingly and thus deserve to be punished, only because they stopped before doing damage it doesn't mean they did nothing wrong.
What crime did they commit, exactly? The only thing we know from that image is that Superman stopped them. Was it before or after they had already done something? What was the something that they did if it was after?
>Like I said this is a fuck you to the suckers that don't even think about committing crimes.
Luckily, low-brows like yourself aren't allowed near the law-making process. A victimless crime should never carry the same consequences as one where real people or property are intentionally and irreversibly damaged.
>>82373178
>No there isn't.
Except there is. Someone who gets a drunk in public citation shouldn't be punished in the same vein as a mass murderer who gases a crowd of innocent people with a deadly toxin.

>That "Ha."
Gets me every time. All-Star is amazing.
>>82367033

>>82368833
Dang
>>82374130
So? It's still a crime, only because it's victimless it doesn't mean you wouldn't get arrested and prosecuted for it.
But sure go on, they just planned everything and they were going to commit it if not stopped but is fine.
And you have the courage to call other low-brows when you are a fucking retard.
If there is enough evidence you were going to commit a crime you can be stopped before you actually do it.
Always hilarious watching morons like you trying to act intellectualy superior
>>82374193
>there are worse crimes therefore you get a free pass!
That's not how it works, their punishment would be different but they would be both arrested.
>>82371488
I fucking hate that everyone in charge of comics hates marriage.

>>82371962
They aren't criminals because they didn't commit any crimes. They were going to, but Superman stopped them, and even then they weren't even going the whole way with it, they hesitated even when they were going to commit a crime. Superman isn't going to beat them up and throw them in jail for 'about to attempt a half-hearted robbery', because Superman isn't an asshole, he knows people are pressured sometimes, and humans can be weak and succumb to temptation, but not only did they hesitate to commit the robbery, but they had no intention of even going all the way, those men had a moment of weakness, and Superman isn't going to throw them in jail for a moment of weakness.
do you think DC will ever go back to form and fix Superman? no tacticool armor, no "we want to modernize his costume so no underwear" but just pure superman? in looks and personality?
you think maybe by 2020 things will shift back, sort of how the 90's tried to be all edgy but eventually went back to normal?
>>82374861
It's not his place to judge, if he was an actual good citizens he would have reported them to the authorities.
>oh well yeah, those guys planned a crime but maybe they will change their mind, no need to call anyone.
>>82360204
We can all be Superman, anon.
Like him, we need to shed our proverbial glasses and stuffy suit so that we may revel in being the most super thing we can be.
Our pure, undiluted, selves.
>>82374920
Sooner or later the old guard will leave/get fired. Everything being cyclical I'm hoping the next generation of writers will be part of my generation that grew up with the Zero Hour characters, and so Kyle and Conner and Cass and others will be front and center again. Much like how this current generation was hellbent on bringing back everyone from the satellite era.
>>82374628
How did you come to that conclusion. If a wife or husband's full time job was a superhero, they would feel something like that.
>>82374920
Well, Superman's personality should be closer to normal after rebirth (hopefully), and I thing that the costume thing is them still being bitter over the lawsuit thing.
>>82374920
>in looks and personality?
Maybe not looks but personality should be fine since pre Flashpoint supes is coming back
>>82375011
My guess is they enjoyed that scene, and are mad that Lois and Clark were never married in the New 52
>>82375011
I'm referring to the fact that everyone's marriages keep getting busted up.
>>82374925
You do know were talking about Superman right? You're acting like these guys would run around the corner and throw their masks back on and go back to the robber. When fucking Superman flies down and tells you to knock it off, a couple of regular joes aren't going to go "Okay, wait till he leaves and lets go back at it"
Fuck you're acting like they are experienced thugs who regularly go up against super heroes. It's the same shit as a kid about to do something bad, only for their parents to catch them right before the act. Shame and guilt is a powerful weapon, especially if it's being delivered by THE GREATEST HERO IN THE ENTIRE WORLD Do you really think those guys, who don't even have bullets in their guns, and are wearing regular street clothes with some ski masks, would seriously keep going after getting shamed by Superman of all people?

>>82375402
seems to me though they are slowly but surely moving him back.
MoS suit itself was really fine aside from the lack of underwear, it was the Nu52 suit that was all tacticool armor.
this new suit is basically traditional spandex but with blue boots and no underwear.
the MoS cues are pretty much just the extended wrist
>>82375001
That sounds nice. Hopefully, they don't ignore the good things that have come out of the New 52.
It's cyclical, but I think it's an upward spiral.

Tough choice between hug and "no strings attached" one night stand with him though. The second would produce no good long-term results and end in unimaginable heartbreak but he's canonly hung and has so much stamina and dominating appearance and attitude when he wants it.

>>82376739
Isn't this a problem with the legal system? Has Supes or Batman ever said "there will be no death penalty on my watch." Is the idea not that they have faith in the legal system and they don't execute people in the streets for the same reason cops don't?

Batman has his own weird reasons for it, but the stated reason for Superman not killing is usually just that he doesn't want to place himself above the law.
>>82377238
Which makes it worse with all the commenters going "fuck the nerd haters!" A kid being in awe over Superman's first flight does not mean the kid loves the entire movie. But I don't want to turn this into a hate thread, and instead it makes me grin like an idiot to see a little kid full of so much wonder about Superman.
I aint even much of a comic book guy, but whenever I have a kid, I hope I can get them to read Superman as their first comic book.
>>82377294
Batman usually doesn't kill because he feels it would bring him to the same level as those he fights.
But still, it does get annoying sometimes when the worst of the worst are just thrown in jail and left alone, but I can understand Batman and Superman not wanting to kill. Just because you have the power and the ability to easily kill criminals doesn't mean you should have to, and being expected to kill is just wrong, just like a normal person would believe, Superman and Batman just don't want to take a life, even if they are horrible criminals, some people, no matter how mighty, just don't want to ever cross that line.
>>82374371
Is it stupid that the thing that gets me teary-eyed is the crowd cheering 'SUPERMAN! SUPERMAN!'?
>>82377361
I thought Batman doesn't kill partially cause he knows he's halfway crazy himself and if he lets himself kill it might push him over the edge
>>82377361
I've heard a couple different justifications for Batman not killing. Either it's strictly a moral thing, or he doesn't trust himself not to slide right down the slippery slope if he gets started, or his parent's death traumatized him so much that he's psychologically incapable of killing.
>>82367981
That is by far the weirdest looking human ass I've ever seen.
>>82377422
>>82377401
>>82377361
This is why I summed it up as "his own weird reasons".
>>82377401
No, he usually just thinks that if he kills any criminal at all, it makes him just as bad as them, and usually in a story where Batman DOES kill a criminal, the cops come down on him hard, because a Batman whose finally crossed the line is a dangerous concept. It's a common "all or nothing" concept, like how whenever Superman goes bad, it usually starts with him killing a villain, and then just goes apeshit
>>82377429
Well it isn't human

Wit, no ;_;
American Alien made me feel, and experience some different emotions for sure
I like the idea of seeing Clark at key points of their life as they grew up, before they became Super Man, and how it came full-circle in some ways.
>>82377861
welp, a shitstorm's a brewing
>>82377972
Why?
I don't really post on /co/, I've just been getting back into comic books. Is American Alien not very well-liked by /co/? Is it a Skub/Anti-Skub thing?
>>82378030
Skub-Anti Skub. There are people who see a couple panels and hate it, there are a LOT of people who see Landis wrote it and hate it, and thre's the disgusting group of savages that just didnt enjoy the book
>>82378030
People were shilling it for months in completely unrelated storytimes (I love Superman as much as anyone else, but nothing makes me hate a story more than being told "Why are you reading this shit and not the comfiest comic ever written?" while reading Grayson, Ultimates, or something else that isn't Superman) and the writer is a total twat on social media.
>>82378091
Having been on 4chan for long enough, you learn that about half the time it's people that like X, and half the time it's people that hate X trying to make the people who like X look bad
See: Zack Snyder posts
>>82378133
Maybe once American Alien ends and people stop talking about it I'll get over my irrational anger at it. Until then, I've never read any of the superman series (only Red Sun, For All Seasons, Whatever Happened to the Man from Tomorrow, and Secret Identity), so I've got stuff to read in the mean time.

I remember when I was like that kid, watching the 70s superman movie and the 90s cartoon all the time, Dressing up in my superman pjs. I remember falling down in this really deep snow, unable to move for who knows how long, and I kept calling out for superman to come get me, then I passed out, I woke up in my bedroom and my parents told me Superman saved me. I miss thinking that there Actually was a Superman.

Because superman, at least the non snyder superman, would just be disappointed in the shit talker and take it stoically. Shit talking batman or wonder woman would probably result in getting a punch to the face.
>>82365210
Non canon, not a lot of editorial interference. They mostly got writers who weren't into comics but were into Superman. Shame the same cannot be said for the Sensation Comics, Legends of the Dark Knight was kinda ok I guess.
>>82371548
bullshit, if I see a police officer walk into a park with a gun I feel safe not nervous.
>>82355245
I consider classic comics with their limitless continuities unreadable.
I want the one correct experience, maybe one reboot but I am simply not interested in 100 different supermans by 100 different writers.

>>82374371
The craziest part about this for me is thatit's all a simulation run by batman on what to do if grodd gains control of the world and poisoned the planet with kryptoniteand batmans best plan was simply get superman back.
I know people seem to complain a lot about how these two characters can treat each other but i think the sheer amount of respect they have for each other is staggering and even if they don't always say it it's still pretty apparent

You know for all the hate nu52 got he was still superman.I'm sad they're getting rid of him instead of just writing him better
>>82368080
Don't particularly like either one. I don't think Classic Superman would act like that in the first half.
He would come up with an insanely complex prank in order to trick the girl into not being suicidal.
Probably involving Jimmy Olsen, Red Kryptonite, Fake Alien Invasion, Kandorian Superman Emergency Squad and maybe Perry White's Super Cigars.

>Superman asks them to be better people to stop them because he's aware people can be hurt and not just the men who are potentially going to be criminals
>But all he can be is Superman in that moment
>Clark Kent knows he can't fix everything. He can't suddenly get these people jobs like Bruce can.
>He can't fix economic troubles. He can't fix poverty, disease and war.
>Superman can't save everybody
>But Superman can be a symbol of being a better person, for being hope where hope isn't there
It's easy to say "Hurf, Supergod telling people off and acting high and mighty" (Also Luthor get out). But that's not really the point. Clark Kent knows that those two people would get themselves killed or get other innocent people killed. He can't help everything but he can at least try stop people from making bad decisions that will ruin their life
>>82383277

>>82384588
They never said that they stopped wars and shit. Just that free energy was the most optimal solution of Superman's energy over time.

>>82366945
Is that J-Lo?
>>82383440
I've said it before, but this comic is wrong on a ridiculous amount of levels.
It assumes Clark still isn't a capable writer or that his fame wont be a draw in the short term to pad out his resume. It ignores the most obvious use of his Super senses to actually keep track of what's happening with humanity and science. It assumes that Lex Luthor isn't going to take the chance to destroy a static and effectively helpless Superman that can't dodge any attacks.
It ignores that if he was dedicated enough to this nonsense to waste his life away on being a power source he could just shove off kryptonian technology and/or hamsters to do the job for him. The entire thing is just nonsensical on so many levels.
>>82385158
>>82385109
That's entirely dependent upon lucking out and NOT running into a threat that requires Superman to stop the world from ending. So this entire thing presumably happened over the course of 24 hours.
>>82391627
Congratulations, you have pointed out the logical inconsistencies of a joke.
>>82391793
Your words might have meant something if the entire joke wasn't based upon and made entirely out of pointing out logical inconsistencies.
>>82392044
I'm agreeing with you. You have successfully convinced me that logically inconsistent jokes cannot be funny.
>>82374371
The JL movie needs a scene like this
>>82392108
Uh, ok? That's wrong though. Logically inconsistent jokes can be funny. They just have to make sure that the target/audience doesn't find how stupid the inconsistencies are to be a more interesting topic just like how you don't start a land war in Asia.
>>82392222
No, all jokes have to make sense. Any sufficiently large audience is going to have some subset that finds certain logical inconsistencies more interesting than the intended joke, so the only solution is to only tell jokes that are perfectly logical.
>>82392300
Jokes have to be funny
>>82392711
Of course. What's the point of a joke if even a single person doesn't find it funny?

Superman-Secret Identity.
One of the best Superman stories ever written, and it's not even about the real Superman.
>>82400584
>it's not even about the real Superman.
I believe it was intended as a Post-Crisis re-introduction for Superboy Prime.
>>82400729
Nope.
Busiek said he was inspired by Superboy Prime, but it was always just an Elseworld's type of tale.
>>82391627
that always been my issue with those superhero shouldn't fight crime and focus on something "more productive".
sure batman could probably do more good for Gotham if he used his crime fighting cash on his company and city and yeah superman could make infinite energy (somehow? pretty sure energy production doesn't work like that, but what do I know)
but you know who doesn't give a fuck about all that? guy's like joker, dark side, doomsday and all those other asshole who would look at the now undefended earth and "heroes" who haven't fought a day in their lives and think "easy picking".

There's an image out there with a list of the 'lessons' that can be learned from ASS and one of them is 'you're much stronger than you think you are'.
A few years ago my mum was fighting depression after her divorce and one night after things had got really shirty I went to see her and she'd overdosed on a million and one different prescription medications. I was in total shock, I had basic first aid training for my job but obviously nothing for this, and seeing your mother laid out like that would throw anybody off.
I was having a massive panic, thinking that she was going to die and that I would he completely useless when I remembered that line 'you're much stronger than you think you are'. That calmed me down and, it feels kind of stupid now to say it, but I thought 'let's do what Superman would do'.
So I put her in the recovery position, made sure she was breathing, called the paramedics, called my aunt and sister, monitored her heartbeat until the ambulance arrived and, years later, everything is so much better.
If it wasn't for this line, for Superman, I don't know if I'd have been able to cope. It's stupid as fuck, but here we are.
