I always preferred Valerie. I understand people not liking how Sam doesn't get called out on bullshit, but I feel it is overblown how much that is a part of her character.
She is insufferable in only a handful of focus episodes spread through three seasons, and ia otherwise a decent supporting character/loce interest.
I mean, Valerie too had some pretty unreasonable moments, and the writers shilled the shit out of her once she started hunting ghosts.
But being antagonistic she got away with some of it and called on some of it.
