Humans were granted intelligence beyond the other races, intelligence great enough to challenge their own god and kill him. This frightened the other gods that they tried to rob their creations of free will so as they won't rise up and challenge them as the humans did. Didelphi disagreed with this as the other races were not like the humans and took the magic from her tree and took the universe into herself to protect them. Because of the actions of Didelphi the Opossum races are left with little to no magic. Because of the actions of the humans they are left with no magic as well, but because their god is dead they even get anti-magic. Humans will be appear in the story and they will not be friendly.

Kit knows she was referring to the possum, ending possum mistreatment being a pet cause of hers, and is going off to do her damnedest to cure the cancer and prevent the further abuse of any possum blood filters (while running herself into the ground).
