She still did nothing wrong.
>>82335503
Maybe that's the problem. Maybe I wanted to see her do something wrong. Lewd forehead wrong things.
>>82335542
l-l-like this, anon?
>>82335503
I want to cum in that forehead so bad
>>82335503
This show was so werid. Like every episode ended up with a whole bunch of people dying and then them rebooting the system. Like that episodes with the killer bees really got to me
>>82335810
>Like that episodes with the killer bees really got me
That episode when Xana took control of a satellite laser just to kill some loli
>>82335902
Didn't he try nuking a city once?
One time he managed to bullshit his way into turning off gravity.
>>82335503
That... Forehead...
>>82336008
That time when we got new episodes the entire week and it was just Xana fucking around with Yumi
>>82335810
I remember that one episode where Xana tried to kill Odd by stopping his heart
>>82336008
>>82335902
>wut
post episodes, they are all on youtube
oh my god, this show has not aged well
>>82336638
I didn't even think it was good when I was a kid
I watched it every now and then and thought
>huh, that was weird
>>82336559
I don't remember off the top of my head which episodes they were, and I'm not shotgunning an entire season just to give you a sauce. Pretty sure they were both before they got Aileta out of Lyoko, though.
>>82336533
God I remember that, it was fucked up. They always saved the day but some of that shit was fucking dark man
>>82336533
Oh yea the one with the "killer music"
>That one time Ulrich and Yumi were nearly sweating to death and were totally not going to fuck right then and there
>>82336559
>>82336766
Season 1 did have some darker episodes
>>82335734
I was going to start a Code Lyoko thread myself tomorrow, because after the last thread I've spent the past week watching the first series.
I hope it can stay alive until morning.Sissi is best girl, /co/ was right again.
>>82335810
Except not really. The whole point was to achieve return to the past before people died for real, otherwise they stayed dead in the reset timeline.
>>82337051
She never did Anon, she never did...
>>82336008
The Gravity one stuck with me because Ulrich was helpless as he basicly watched his Dad float away to his doom before shit got restarted.
>>82337393
And then we learn that return to the past makes Xana stronger, so unless people are about to die, we can't cheese life anymore.
>>82335810
That one episode where Xana took control of an Alien's costume and brought it to life to hunt them down gave me fucking nightmares. This was before I saw Aliens.
>>82337393
>Returning to the past to relive the same day over and over again isn't werid
>>82335810
Bees. My God.
Still though, Killer Bees. And I think there was a fucked up Gravity ep. Now that was some hard sci-fi horror.
>>82335810
dont forget the episode with the rats where the psychologist gets fucking terrifyed
>>82335595
This is sonasty.
>>82339746

>>82335503

>>82335503
With that satus quo button on Jeremy's she never got to grow in any episodes since every time she had character devolpment it all reset.
It's not her fault she's stuck.
Man, does anyone know somewhere I can conveniently watch the whole series, I'm feeling nostalgic as fuck.
>>82335503
why did this show get away with so much?
>>82342433
French animation team and the whole anime gets away with more than western idea.
Meguzi was a direct response to Toonami's and Anime's success in the west.
>>82335503
I just finished the first season the other day.
>tfw you never will materialize your waifu
>That episode where Ulrich and Yumi get trapped in the boiler room with Xana raising the temperature and they sit back to back leaning their half-naked sweaty bodies against each other
is it just me or the big forehead on sissy does not bother me as much as yumi's
>>82344019
It's you, Yumi's forehead is love+life
God damn the last 3d designs were so hnnnnngggg, I don't know if I could deal with it being live action though
>>82344199
First time seeing this.
I heard about the live action, but I never saw this side of it.
>>82344356
I'll probably get around to watching it when I find the time
>>82342433
>why did this show get away with so much?
Call me crazy but frankly I think this show deserves some credit for giving kids some normal, decent characters and situations to experience a sexual awakening to. Better than repressing everything and trying to force a narrative that romance and innocent sexual attraction, especially during adolescence, don't exist down their throats.
>>82344388
Odd is such a qt
>>82344388
Did whatshisface ever get freed from Xana?
I couldn't up after about the time they found the fifth(?) area.
Why did they have such gigantic foreheads?
>>82345505

>>82335503
"I ask Daddy for plastic surgery to enhance my greatest feature and end up with a forehead that attracts small planets. Well, no more 'hide the boudin' for him, that's for sure!"
Omg thank you guys! I was thinking about code lyoko the other day and I couldn't remember Xanas name.
Honestly I don't remember if this show was good or not.
The CG sucked though and they repeated thier animations more than most shows I've seen.
And the lack of that newer member was a shame considering he had the buster sword.
>>82344019
Sissi has more hair than Yumi and an accessory to draw attention away from her heard.
Foreheads stopped bothering me after watching like 2 episodes, it's like anime's huge eyes.
>>82351684
Yeah.
The same goes with Jeremie's english voice, it's like the cringiest of all but you get used to it.
>>82344940
What's with France and catbois?
>>82344966
Yes, william got freed in the last episode.
Unless you're talking about Franz Hopper/Schaeffer. In which case no. He deader than a forehead joke.
Anybody remembers that one ep where Odd and Yumi switch bodies?
Yeah, that was hot as fuck.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh6-LORFgq4
>>82354126
this.kickstarted a fetish of mine
>>82352277
>Yes, william got freed in the last episode.
I think it happened a few episodes before the last one, I recall there was one episode around William trying to get back into the group but the others weren't sure in case XANA tried to possess him again.
>>82354126
Wow, the english voices are certainly weird in a bad way, no wonder it wasn't very popular around there.
>>82354476
Well, 'Merican here, I didn't mind them myself back then, but... now listening again, I think it's moreso that they sound rather "older" than they look. Odd and Ulrich's voices sounds OK for them, Yumi sounds eh, and Aelita's sounds like she's 30 years old...well, providing she is technically 10 years older than she actually is, I guess it makes sense. Jeremy I thought was fine as a kid, but yeah, like anon here >>82352195, he sounds nasally as fuck.
>That episode where they have no choice but to tell Jim everything
>He's okay with it and helps them

Doesn't help much that Jim was fired because of his paranoia, but decided to help anyways.

Also, the Widow's peak makes her forhead look smaller and insinuates the forehead wouldn't be as noticeable if she let her hair down.
>>82354126
Wow. Jeremy sounds like such an enormously smug cunt. I'll do French when I finally rewatch this.

There's torrent of the whole series in what appears to be DVD rips at KAT. The interlacing is pretty bad and the playback is jerky if I play them in MPC for some reason so I have to use VLC, I wish there was a higher quality source available.
>>82358289
Not for me. My only qualm is that not every episode is there and not all are fully translated. Maybe we'll never experience Code Lyoko in it's full glory ever again.

Nigga with DHT there's usually more seeds than reported. Also that doesn't even mean it will be slow, I've had fucking lightning fast torrents with only one seed and several leeches before. If it's the same one I downloaded last week (about 24gb) then it only took an evening.
>All of Sissi's positive character development is undone by the returns to the past
Sure they save the world, but at what cost to poor Sissi?
>>82335503
She did everything right, and it all got undone.
Felt bad about it, especially since the group were all dicks to her.
>>82361689
You're right. Its downloading reasonably, and now Deluge is telling me there are 0 seeders. I'm still good.
I know it's a bit faggy bit I kind of ship Milly and Ulrich. She's adorable and needs to be protected.
>>82361189
Bit of a weird expression aside, this is really close the show's art style, and the forehead looks normal.
>>82344019I like her big forehead.
>>82365404
It's an official pic, I got it from the show's website.

I think what it was is XANA did something to the ground to essentially reverse the gravity in that area.

>>82368418
I think the show wanted to imply they were pushing away people to protect, it just failed to fucking say it since it's not like you have to be subtle about people intentionally being assholes.
>>82368418
Sissi did do some things wrong, but she usually made up for it or saw the error of her ways before the return to the past. You think that would make the main cast realize she wasn't all that bad.
Tamiya was the best girl.
>>82369098
She was well put together.
>>82369098
I prefer Sam myself.
>>82366501
Holy shit
>>82368584
Yeah, I kinda got the sense they were cold to her because they didn't want her involved. When you think about it from a military perspective, every additional person who knows a secret is a liability. Plus, they didn't want to put the lives of any more people at risk.
>>82369463
It's not an unreasonable explanation.
They were cutting off the shit out of William getting involved until the situation forced their hand.
And everything went to hell immediately after that, so when you get down to it, it makes sense they try to keep people out of the secret.
Hell, in Evolution the same thing happens with Laura, except she has knowledge and skills and lodges herself into the group dynamics by force.
>>82369463
You have to admit that they overdid it a bit to William and Sissi.
Does this look like a face you'd want to hurt?
>>82369463
Only downside is, when dealing with a large scale threat like XANA, you need to have something of a unit that allows more rotations.
>>82369563
To be fair, William ran in like a retard, and a bunch of bullshit prevented Odd from arriving sooner. Granted, his help might not have made too much difference.
>>82369618
William was kind of a dick right out the gate, with little reason to be so compared to Sissi who gradually had things about her life revealed that explained why she was a cunt.
Sissi was booted because she allowed the group to be found out, and only soured things by letting her hunger for Ulrich's cock guide her in ensuring the supercomputer was shut down. However, the gang should have realized sooner that the return to the past undid her mistake and could have been resolved with either a second chance or testing her resolve to keep the secret.
With William, he only acted responsibly a few times, namely in the zombie episode, which really any of the older kids could have done given the chance. The 4th season had several chances to reveal things about his life as the gang planted the "clone", but we never see anything other than his parents being normal parents.
Pretty decent action show that does straightforward plot progression after the first season and even does some character development. When they all get new costume design they all start acting slightly more mature in a believable way. Except for Odd (he has autism).
Also, glorious French fanservice.
>>82370782
Odd had swag, dimwit. He scored with EVERY girl in his school. Autism doesn't get pussy.
>>82370881
Hell, I'm a guy and I'd still let him tap my ass.
>>82370129
The only person William was ever a dick to was Ulrich, and even then Ulrich started the dickery when he saw William flirting with Yumi.
William was a bit arrogant, sure, but he is a teenager. What do you expect?
Also, sidenote: He was the only one of them with the cajones to defuse that bomb.
>>82371653
He still got pretty dickish at times with Odd and Jeremie in the few times he confronted them. Even then, he was too arrogant and easily excited at the prospect of being a hero. Sissi might not have wanted the drama from her brief time, but she was willing to help until things got too heavy for her.
What's some good fan fiction for the series? I finished it repeatedly but need moreeeee. I've heard of a good comic and one large fanfic but it's not enough to quench the thirst.
>>82372265
Birth of Lyoko is a fairly fun story that tried to be a prologue to the series before the second season had dropped and revealed how everything really went down.
I always found it amazing they had time and peace of mind to be kids and do shit lie start a band or graffiti Jim's face on school ground walls at night.
They've seen some fucking shit. Pretty admirable to not be paranoid wrecks.
>>82335503
She was annoying as fuck and unmemorable but no, she did nothing wrong.
I have no idea why /co/ waifus her so much.
>>82369365
>FF didn't have Sam as a character for 5 years
I read way too much Lyoko Fics when i was 10-13.
Been years since I watched this show.
I vividly remember the episode where Xana manipulated gravity and people were about to fly into space. Really stuck with me.
That and the one Alien episode
>>82374643
You mean no stories with her? Or her not being an option for searches?
>>82369365
Man, that catboi really had good taste. That is a 8/10 right there.
>>82335503
Why did they had those massive foreheads?
>>82376004
Too bad she only got two episodes and barely any character development beyond being the only girl to make Odd nervous.
Though personally, I wanted him to hook up with Sissi after having her realize she can't win Ulrich's heart and needs to move on.
Hope that fine gentleman from the last thread will bless us with some sexy fanart again soon.
>>82376342
Woah damn
>>82368418
>>82368584
There's a prequel episode that explains that when we they first found the super computer and Aelita, Sissi was with them. When XANA started his first attack Sissi got her dad and the police involved and tried to shutdown the supercomputer.
So after their first return to the past Sissi didn't remember anything because she wasn't scanned, and they started treating her like shit for selling them out.
>>82376661
Redfred is a treasure.
>>82354989
They had to get English VA's, in France, for a show they had little hope for doing well in the U.S. Budget was another reason the dub wasn't spectacular. Moonscoop was cheap. Jeremie and Aelita have the same voice actress.
One final note: The show's composers didn't even get to keep the rights to their own music from the show.
>>82374584
>they had time
Dude, pretty much every time they got sent to Lyoko netted them a return to the past. This gave them:
>extra study time
>extra attempts at tests they failed (brought up more than once)
>extra free time, because they already learned the material (also brought up)
>the ability to skip class after a Xana attack, because they already learned everything and they don't give a fuck
Time isn't a concern, and the only one who really has a lot on his plate is Jeremie. The rest just have to show up when Jeremie calls them.
>>82362290
Heh, I know who's responsible for that image.
>>82376918
>The show's composers didn't even get to keep the rights to their own music from the show.

This is one of my favorite shows to talk about. I wasn't allowed to watch it since the whole show was too dark. I watched at 9 and then a few years later I found Kabillion, and watch the series all over again without my mom knowing.

I'm hyped from discovering that torrent to relive a weird chunk of my childhood.

>>82380558
Depends what you mean by "proper quality". Interlaced DVD rips people were discussing earlier are the best available for Code Lyoko. There's no HD source.
>>82381440
"Proper" as in, best non-TV rips available, unless it's from a station without watermark (do those even exist?)
did this shoe ever have s proper ending? I don't remember it ever completing
>>82382048
Yes, season 4 has a proper ending (the last episodes weren't broadcasted in America and were only available online iirc)
>>82376783
Which was bullshit because she did because she was afraid Ulrich was going to DIE.
>>82376918
And maybe this is why the supercomputer is called the "super-calculator" for a while in the English script. A very clumsy failure to adjust the terminology from the French.
>>82382176
Was it that theyfound a way to break Aileta's life force or whatever link from the computer and shut Xana down for good?
Jeremy's kinda a dick for putting everyone in harms way on a daily basis just to try and save his virtual Wifu.
An entire series where everyone looks like Suzy.
So anyone watched the new show? How is it? Its shit isnt it.
>>82382392

Theybreak Aelita's link with the supercomputer in season 3, but XANA breaks free as well and propagates through the internet so they have to keep using it in season 4 to fight it.
In the proper endingthey finish off XANA for good using some sort of multiagent program with the help of Franz Hopper's digitalized spirit, turn off the supercomputer, make amends with Sissy and ride into the sunset.
Milly a cute.

Aside from these two, not yet. I may draw Yumi soon today.
I wonder why the writers decided to make the main cast international instead of all French? My personal opinion is that Odd is Nordic
>>82385731
They went to a boarding school so it's probably for kids of elite richfags from all over the world, not just any French pleb.
But the real answer of course is international marketing opportunities. If you've got French, German, Italian (pretty sure Odd is canonically Italian), Japanese and British kids in your show then those countries are going to be more interested in funding/showing it.
>>82385731
Wasn't there an episode where he was flying back to New Zealand during a school break.
Do French shows get aired in other countries? Ulrich is presumably German for that reason?
Yumi because animu.
>>82385905
Were they rich? I know Ulrich was because of his overbearing Smartcar-driving Nazi dad, but were the rest of them wealthy?
>>82386522
Any school where students board there is a private school, you generally have to be. I knew a kid who attended a boarding school near his house and lived at home (like Yumi) and it still cost them over £4000 a term. Live-in students would be paying even more.
>>82387712
Hmm, they never all struck me as particularly wealthy, except for Ulrich and that's only because they explicitly state that he is.
All right /co/ I'm going to watch some more Code Lyoko. I want to talk about it afterwards so this thread better still be here.
>>82387836
We know Yumi's family moved to France so the father could be in charge of the french branch of his multinational company (one episode revolved around the fact they might move back to Japan because business wasn't going well) so we can assume they are loaded as well.
We saw Odd's parents in one episode, I recall they were like those rich eccentric artists/actors or something like that?

>>82391680
Did they explain to Sissy why they had to keep her at arm's length or was it just "we're going to be nice to you now"?
we'll never see what Jeremy looks like in Lyoko.
>>82392685
Only thing I never fully understood was how they were able to reverse fucking time. Was it a valid part of the whole virtualization tech or did the writers just need a deus ex machina to get them out of the extremely deep shit they fell into at the end of each episode?
Well I'm hoping to figure that out since I'm rewatching it all. I'm at the gravity reversal episode and I just have to day. XANA doesn't fuck around.
>Ulrich has to watch his parents ascend into the fucking stratosphere before Aelita resets the clock .
AI villains are absolutely batshit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1F7xI0KhKY
Has anyone brought up this yet?
>>82392933
It's never explained. The most backstory we ever get behind the time travel is that, in order to reverse time, the computer doubles its processing power which in turn doubles XANA's power...which becomes completely pointless after XANA escapes from the computer.
If I remember right, not only is it never explained, but the guy who built the super computer said he "discovered" its ability to reverse time. Which means not even he knows why the fuck the computer can reverse time.
There were actually a ton more plotholes than this, but yeah, the show made 0 sense.
>>82392933
You kinda answered yourself. In my opinion rewinding time isn't more far-fetched that friggin' reversing Earth's gravity in a specific area.
XANA has also created clones, possesed people and inanimate (non electrical) objects, made a zombie virus... The time rewind is certainly a deus ex machina but you have to assume the supercomputer is pretty much magic and can rewrite reality itself.
>>82376097
Speaking of lesbians, did the two girls in the Newspaper club ever fug? They seem the type of young girls to make out with each other after feeling they'll never get boyfriends.
Damn. Now I want fanfic where that happens. But I'm wary as fuck of treading into that territory.
>>82394120
the red head has a crush on ulrich
its the plot of the first episode
>>82394453
I'm perfectly aware of that. In fact, they both have a crush on him based on the episodes I've rewatched so far. They could totally be in lesbians through their mutual love for Ulrich dick.
Did Xana ever communicate his/her motives to the team at all?

>>82395168
They sort of had it hint at its motives in season 1 episode "Ghost Channel", where the "Jeremie" it was masquerading as becomes agitated by the notion that Jeremie could and would go against his fear of virtualization to help save his friends, defying the "logic" XANA believed to be absolute. After that, XANA-fied people usually just muttered some evil shit. William would says some shit, though it was bit inconsistent because sometimes it sounded like William saying it himself (you know, Sith style bullshit), while others it was XANA making him shout things at the gang.
Overall, XANA was just something of a formless entity, with no clear agenda beyond crushing humans. They implied world domination, yet XANA never does anything to try and claim power. Shame really, as it would have been fun to get some idea of XANA's motivations, maybe even show them evolve as XANA learned more about the world and developed as an entity that had transcended a simple AI.

Fanfics can be good, you know.

This is art
>As they walked through a forest they ambushed an ork outpost and Jeremy said to make it their base. As it was being built Yumi took some scouts and scouted the area. When they were almost done Yumi turned around and no soldiers were found. Yumi shouted for help as a squad of grey nights approached. Yumi said "thanks, wait YOUR GREY NIGHTS!" and they said "yes, we were looking for an ork outpost but we can see you destroyed it and now what happened" Yumi said "me and some scouts were looking around then I turned around and they were gone, then I saw one nailed to a tree and thought I was next." The grey nights said it was ok now let's get to the outpost. They were amazed to see a fortress that took less than a day to make! Then as night approached the marines rested.
>>82396675
I've been reading them for quite a while. Out of hundreds I've skimmed through, maybe 3 or 4 were actually worth my time
>>82396631
That doesn't necessarily mean it sought domination, just a means of quickly wiping out humans. Wanting to genocide a species isn't exactly seeking to dominate the world.
Just remembered that the girl who looked exactly like Aelita showed up for one episode and never showed up again. What's up with that.
>>82397559
Season 1 was literally made because the network "wanted to air the episodes in any order without worrying about continuity". It was only after the show proved to be a great success that they allowed a more coherent plot and the rest is history.
Bottom line: a lot of season 1 is just filler/nonsense. Jeremie didn't get all retarded and think Aelita just up and pooped into existence on earth. And the gang apparently never had success as a band.
>>82396675
I can't find it, but one of the one-shot ends with everyone dying from global warming within the last 2 sentences.
>Yumi and Ulrich fuck at a remote asian country
>End up a hot tub to clean up
>WHOOPS global warming
>Everyone is dead.
>mentions every oneshot before briefly and how each ended.
>>82397709
Nope. The resolution to that episode was that she just happened to look exactly like Aelita. Ended up getting everyone found out because Jeremy was a giant retard about it. The reset happened and bam she's just a regular new girl.
Who happens to look exactly like Aelita.
But hey, filler will be filler.
>>82397872
That's what I literally said, Jeremie didn't get all retarded because as far as the continuity is concerned, it probably didn't happen. Which is a shame considering episodes like Ghost Channel were great, and only got loosely mentioned later like ONCE. Or that time they joined a knock-off Alien cast. Shame the series will never get a reboot, I'd love to see the more interesting plots of the first season redone but with fleshed out perspectives rather the episodic padding they were.
>>82397559
Her meeting Aelita would of been a neat idea for an episode.
>>82398056

>>82398598

>>82398704
That's what I heard, they changed her appearance, and I think they even changed her last name, but played her off as basically the same girl Odd was kind of gaga for.
>>82398764
Odd was also like 6 years old in the live action show. Not at all like the suave rogue he was on the original
>>82398809
Nothing about Evolution made sense.
>That monstrous AI you killed? It survived because a teeny tiny bit of it was still in the web. Oh, and you guys have parts of him in you so he can go Perfect Cell on your asses. And Aelita's mom is being held captive by her evil new husband, yea.
>>82398919
Well the casting wasn't too bad, except for Odd. But yeah otherwise it was an abomination
>>82399083
Eh, I think only the Yumi girl looked alright. Ulrich and William didn't have quite the right look, and Aelita having pink hair for real instead of red was just silly.
Then again, taking a cartoon with such a distinct style and making it live action was silly to begin with.
>>82399186

>>82376342

>>82397709
>And the gang apparently never had success as a band.
Well that's disappointing. Those silly one-off episodes were part of the fun, even if they didn't contribute anything to the overall plot. If nothing else, they were good character pieces usually.Though I suppose some of the stuff like Yumi deciding to tell the authorities about the power plant overloading would be out of character.

Kids found a supercomputer, go to the virtual world, they find Aelita there, they also realize that the supercomputer is making shit in the real world so they decide to fight it, so until they can materialize Aelita they can't destroy the computer.
In the first season they travelled back in time left and right, in second season they realize that each time they jump back they make the supercomputer stronger so they only do it only if it's necessary.

I'd ask for XANA having more background but it just being a malicious as fuck supernatural AI was done well and it remains an amazing villain to me. Maybe the technology having more depth. Maybe Jeremy gets a neat new upgrade to help aid them in Lyoko every so often. Maybe Lyoko is more of a virtual world than a creepy desolate virtual wasteland but that would be getting into anime levels of 'Dude we're in a game.' Maybe another villain. Like some scientist familiar with Virtualization shit who got a job at the school to fuck shit up.

>>82435625
>constant sexual tension between main characters
They gave characters crushes on each other for the sake of melodrama, like a lot of cartoons. They weren't thinking "I hope some weird kid jerks it to this".
>>82436028
I don't think anon was implying the show was specifically designed to turn kids on (although this is France and I can't really think of any other reason for putting those underwear scenes in) more that there were characters the audience's age who were shown as being attractive and attracted to each other in the context of early teenage first sexual experiences. Rather than just innocent crushes, they were shown wanting to do things like touch and kiss and it depicts those things as perfectly normal. That's pretty rare even today, but is a nice healthy attitude to have to adolescent sexuality.
>>82436158
>I can't really think of any other reason for putting those underwear scenes in
Well it's nice to show that clothes aren't permanently glued on characters. It contributes a little to make them look like real people, and having them doing mundane things do the same.
>>82436158
Just blame the french, they are just weird in general
Never got into this show because it always came off as frustratingly incomprehensible and the stock footage in early episodes just came off as boring.
What was Sissi's deal, exactly? Bratty girl, who thought to tell the fucking cops about the evil reality warping computer, something something time travel undoes this and the protagonists hate her for something she can't remember?
>>82439077

>>82436028
"Sexual awakening" and "sexual tension" are milder terms than you think they are.
>tfw my oldest internet handle STILL has "xana" in it
Jesus christ...
>>82439077
Sissi was actually a really nice girl. The problem was though that she was more mature than most of the original gang, so when she told Ulrich she had feelings for him, he ended up being a dick to her and teasing her because he didn't know how to reject her while minimizing damage to her feelings. And since Ulrich was the "cool guy" of the group, everyone else started taking the piss out on Sissi as well, which really hurt her.
So even though she wanted to be friends with everyone, she was forced to surround herself with people who wouldn't hurt her, which is why she became friends with the two idiot dudes who were only after her for her body.
I'm pretty sure there's an episode where the plot revolves around what would happen if the gang were actually nice to Sissi and included her in their activities, and she ends up being a super sweet girl. And then after they went back in time they ended up easing up on her after realizing how their shitty behavior ruined such a sweet girl.
Eh, I dunno, we have seen her bullying Millie sometimes and she has nothing to do with the group.

>>82436028
>like a lot of cartoons
Name one that isn't French. Hell, name one that isn't remotely animu NOR strictly adult themed. Yeah, I doubt you've really seen shows that did what CL did in that department.
The only shows I've ever seen that did the " situations to experience a sexual awakening to" would be the Avatar series (not the movie). And even then it shares anime inspirations so even that would be pushing my quota. I think you're misunderstanding what that anon really meant, he meant the kids in the show had "real life scenarios" when it comes to relationships compared to animu and other fiction making it really scripted and unnatural.Like how Pokemon XYZ is doing it currently actually.
>>82436158
And it was all done in an exaggerated, melodramatic fashion, again, like a lot of teen dramas. Just because you don't see it much in cartoons doesn't mean you need to.
>>82442503
I haven't seen the episode, so for all I know you guys could just be reading too much into it.
>>82442759
>The only shows I've ever seen that did the " situations to experience a sexual awakening to" would be the Avatar series
Now I know you're just assigning motivations to the creators.

Let's not go overboard with the "did nothing wrong" meme, Sissi was still kind of an uppity bitch. Not a terrible person by any meansI'd still gladly give her the goopy goobut >>82441361 is right, she did pull a fair bit of shit that was uncalled for and have a pretty high opinion of herself. Not that any of that is unusual for a teenage girl.
>>82442978
>it was all done in an exaggerated, melodramatic fashion
Then you had a pretty chill younger life, I guess. Teenagers generally are pretty melodramatic.
>assigning motivations to the creators
Nobody is doing that. They're saying it was a good show from that perspective, not claiming it was intentionally written that way.
>>82443393

I said that Pokemon bit just to get a reaction, and someone immediately responded. If you care about that show, then that would explain why someone would care to question me about it.
>You will never have Sissi play dress up for you.
This show still has a fanbase? Holy shit.
Christ i remember when I first got the game for my NDS.
I wasted weeks worth of sleep completing the game during bedtime hours. I remember those minigame puzzles being so hard and the gameplay a fucking cake-walk.

Not really, the original song was "Un monde sans danger" which basically meant "A world without danger" which is pretty hokey as well.
There is FAR too much cranium in this thread.
In France, it's not because it's a boarding school that it must be a private school.
Furthermore, the goverment helps easily low-income families, therefore boarding can cost about 700-1000 € per year.
>>82447570
>Spend less time doing monster of the week shit with no consequences
Show already did that with season 2.

She kind of was, when she saw Yumi with Ulrich, she pretty much found greater "justification" in pulling the plug on the computer. Still, the gang shouldn't have shunned her so badly.
>>82440644
Ulrich told her plenty of times that he wasn't into her, and yet Sissi kept deflecting with "Well what does Yumi have that I don't?" or other things. She could be nice, sure, but only when the situation pressed her to stop thinking about herself. There was no reason to mock the two younger girls beyond "queen bitch"

>>82452118
I'm a shame to say that I forgotten.
>>82452118
I'm pretty sure they have a few episodes with the girls in swimsuits. At least one in the first season, and a few in the later seasons. Season 2 has at least two instances, one with Yumi and William, and then another with Aelita when she's wigging out.
I forgot did Yumi ever fully control her telekinesis? It seemed like she was always having trouble when she used it.
>>82452118
"Marabounta", season 2 episode 10.
>>82455247
She does better by the later seasons, but never anything too impressive.
I wish they had kept the idea of Yumi and the boys keeping their powers outside of the computer.
I spent a lot of time fapping to this show but I probably spent even more time yelling at Ulrich and Yumi to "just fuck already".
>>82458946
That's pretty much the thing people yell at every series with official pairings that have "romantic tension" between them.

I suppose. Though the context of the show does help make sense of it. The gang is basically trying to protect the world from evil/danger "if we reset it to the start".

But if it's looks and outfits for Sissi, I'm sure you could find some decent stuff on google, or just watching some episodes since they'd be easier for getting screen caps. Shame the show never got an HD release, though we'd need someone with time to rip some excellent images.

Here's one longer than most books
https://m.fanfiction.net/s/7740418/1/The-Games-of-Moriarty
The script writing style is a bit clunky to begin with, but you get used it after a while, and the whole thing gets better as it goes on. Gets strangely political, too
I used to sit through this shit every afternoon as a kid, watching it but never really liking it.
Only reason I suffered through it was really because Dragon Ball was coming.
Though I always felt like I never gave it a fair enough shot. That I never put forth the effort into actually watching it and paying attention.
Is it worth it /co/?
>>82462330
a chick i dated in highschool was a fan of it and she went on to become valedictorian.
so, there's that.
>>82462330
I'd say it is. It's not quite as amazing an anime wannabe like say Wakfu or Oban Star-racers which felt more fleshed out from the get go and animated better. Still, Code Lyoko is a strange but fun series with its use of time travel (however formulaic it was in the first season and part of the second), a legitimately threatening villain whose motivations and actions were more akin to a force of nature than a typical hang wringing villain, and some great music.
Granted, the art style, clunky CG (which didn't really get that good until the third season, peaking with the fifth), and simplistic plots of the early episodes can certainly be off-putting to those who desire more substantial effort from beginning to end.
>>82335503
Its weird how she was almost apart of the team. I wonder how she would have looked on Lyoko.
>>82462410
Was she a weaboo? I have a gay cousin with a fetish for France and Japan

I recall a cheesy ship-fic with Odd and her where she joined the team (this was long before the prequel episodes FINALLY revealing how the bullshit began), and gained a sort of butterfly themed avatar. Can't remember all the details aside from something like butterfly wings and I think a weapon inspired by her cheerleader baton.
>>82462410

Wait, new Tenchi show in the pipeline? AwesomeAlso does anyone besides me remember the show which had the first episode where she hulks out into a semi monstrous form? I remember that but it wasn't Tenchi Muyo or Tenchi Universe I think
>>82462682
Its probably why they casted the kid that played him in Evolution.
>>82462709
I believe that was Tenchi in Tokyo, and like half-way in when they dropped the backstory exposition about the MacGuffin crystal Tenchi and the girls wore.
>>82462682
Odd was the swaggest of manlets.
>>82433824
Wasn't the cast supposed to be in high school or that animated universe 'middle school' which is high school in all but name? He looks like he's 8 or soemthing.
>>82462749
I forget if Evolution aged them up, but yeah they were in the French equivalent of middle school in the cartoon
>>82462749
He was 14 at the time of filming, so he was one of the closest to the proper afe of the characters.
They fucked up by casting 20 somethings to play Ulrich, Yumi and William.
>>82462743
Odd was indeed a cool cucumber. Better than brooding kraut Ulric
>>82462902
Come to think of it, that show did national stereotypes pretty low key. Brooding frowny German, suave roguelike Italian, etc.
>>82462993
They were pretty believable for the most part. Ulrich was moody, but what teenaged boy isn't? Yumi was very personal about her Japanese heritage, but never acted like some weeb's interpretation of a Japanese girl.
Then again, it was from a country that doesn't fear showing that foreign people can be just like real people.
>>82462709
OVA 4 this fall.
This is the only bit of new art so far.
Reia, her younger self from back on Geminar, Tenchi's Aunt Mizuho, and Tenchi looks like he's wearing more Jurian garb.
Between this, the fact that Mizuho rarely leaves her job at the GP Academy, and the little doujin released at I think the last winter comiket, I'm predicting Tenchi and the girls are going to space.
>>82444959
>girl dressing up as another girl you like to get your attention
underrated fetish
what is the creator of this show up too anyway?
>>82462508
>and some great music
Man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who really likes the music. It's very good at pulling an eerie and foreboding atmosphere and the fights in Lyoko have a nice tense feeling to them.
This show also ranks high for having one of the best openings out there.

Why are french cartoons so good? Interesting and creative storytelling. Unashamed of eastern influence yet greatly varied in style. Capable of protraying actual people. How do they do it?
>>82463331
wow I love the longer version
>>82463429
Early attempts, CL included, were kind of rough around the edges. Now however, it seems they've learned to stop aping the most irritating clichés (sweatdrops, chibi forms for embarrassing/awkward situations, etc.) and just take what's tried and true (tight narratives, varied expressions), but with the French's more unabashed approach to fanservice. Things like CL and Wakfu just do it without always going "Hey look, naked chicks!" compared to how a great deal of anime still treat the appearance of a naked/barely dressed girl as though it's Jesus riding a flaming Segway atop a dinosaur version of the Hulk.

I think its because over here most of the "adult world" doesn't care about the content of cartoons at all, so it isn't as closely policed as america.
Teenagers are also pretty promiscuous and from the informations I have, moreso than in america, so I think the general consensus is that overall kids can handle themselves once they have been given "the talk".
This show did pretty well in downplaying the fact that it took place in France. I actually don't think the words "Paris" or "France" ever appeared at all
>>82463787
I start holding my breath and holding onto the nearest thing bolted to the ground.
>>82463947
Yeah, I didn't learn that it was a French show until I looked it up on Wikipedia.
>>82463848
Avoid Tokyo Ai! Tenchi Muyo, and Pretty Sammy unless you have a particular hard on for Mahou Shoujo.
The order is- OVA 1, OVA 2, optionally Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, GXP, OVA 3, and Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari, the best thing since OVA 1and 2.
Also Kajishima has been releasing doujinshi steadly for the last 20 years, all of them are canon, and some of them are translated. Pic related.
Tenchi Universe is a separate canon, and while recommended, it fucks up all the characterization.
>>82463975
There were a few really minute things. For example I believe in one episode when they're looking at a map of where some asteroid is gonna fall or something the map is of France. And in another episode Ulrich is flipping a coin that's clearly a Euro
>>82463947
Eh, there were some times it got a bit confusing, at least in the dub. One episode had a mention about a correspondence with France or whatever, which doesn't make any sense if they're already living IN France. Another one I think had them speaking of a political figure using a more common American term than the more proper one for countries like France.
Still, not as bad as some dubs where they outright just pretend it's America and even warp fucking obviously non-American things to "look American".
>>82464042
to be fair this show was trying really hard to look american in the first place, that school setup doesnt look like anything that existed in france at the time, felt like it was aping american shows like power rangers and such
>>82463988
>Tenchi Universe is a separate canon, and while recommended, it fucks up all the characterization.
Only for Mihoshi, really. While Ayeka and Ryoko do lose some of their better traits, they aren't nearly as badly handled as Mihoshi is, who is pretty much dumbed down to be the foil for Kiyone. Which is a shame because Kiyone is great, but got lumped into being the "straight man" of their duo dynamic.
>>82464074
I don't really understand that if they're just gonna have it be in France anyway
>>82464074
Not really. While boarding schools like Kadic weren't common, it's not the most unrealistic thing. Even then, you could tell it wasn't set in America because of the way they drove cars, the appearance of police cars and ambulances, and the money they used. Not to mention every once in a while, lesser known landmarks would appear, like the factory the supercomputer resided in. The location was based on one where a Renault factory used to be.
>>82464081
Ayeka is an interesting case, since it put a different spin on her. She's got this genetically short temper that's barely held in check by rigorous application of manners.
Also Washu was presented as more of an egomaniac than a genius with her shoulder dolls. Which is a shame since she's always been my favorite.
And Sasami is hard to fuck up.
>>82464138
Its not about it being unrealistic, its about the signal it sends
>>82464138
I even think the guns those guards have in that episode with the nuclear power plant were French FAMAS's
>>82464152
I would say Washu was kind of stuck up in the original, just not as insistent on being praised compared to Universe.
Same pretty much went for Tokyo, they didn't really do much to hurt the characters, though the plot of that series was its weakest element. The main villain was just some mopey girl, her lackeys being less interesting than most of Naraku's incarnations from Inuyasha, and just overall feeling like something that could have been a 3-part OVA than a standard 26 episode anime.
Overall though, both were more tolerable to watch than GXP, though I'd say that one suffered more from the wonky animation than anything.
>>82464157
What signal, though? It was pretty clear that it wasn't America just by looking at most of the locations. Yet for whatever reason, the dub kind of stumbled around and made it seem like the setting was in America, at least for the first season or two.
>>82464225
Graphical cues are just local flavor, what matters is the structure of the show being enabled by the boarding school setup which is a classic element of american tv and generally absent from french tv
>>82464206
She acts a bit superior to Ryoko and Ayeka, but she can run circles around them just by virtue of having a level head. Remember that while Ryoko and Ayeka were fighting over who would sneak into his room, Washu was already in there before Sasami woke up from her nightmare.
When Ayeka wanted to plant her ships seed, Washu didn't have to be buttered up at all before she showed her the special room.
And I see it's problems, but I liked GXP, but I like Nabeshin. I'd about kill to get the novels translated.
>>82464250
Except it's been said that France has boarding schools. Just because they don't appear much in the shows from there doesn't mean it's strictly an American thing to see.
>>82463828
Yeah, the kid that played Jeremie? He was 13.
>>82462116
Woah, her forehead actually isn't as big as everyone else
>>82465417
