Nite-Owl is NOT meant to be Batman, conceptually or thematically. Rorschach, while based on The Question, is a far closer parallel to the uncompromising crusader mindset of Batman in that he never quits no matter how difficult things get or how much his sanity takes a hit for his overdeveloped sense of responsibility.
In short, Zack Snyder is a complete fucking moron who only seems to appreciate comics on the level of a severely autistic child drooling over the pretty pictures within.
It's weird, he sounds like he really understands Watchmen. And yet, his movie doesn't really reflect that.
