WHY ARE WE MAD ABOUT THIS?
>>
spiderman was already established as strong in the first

second is showing that he's strong compared to established characters

4/10 got me to reply
>>
Maybe its the video quality but Spider-man's voice is way too high-pitched. He's meant to be like 16 or older, not 12.
>>
is this showing that movies with the same character have different choreography in fight scenes?
>>
>>82222799
>Spider-man's voice is way too high-pitched.
>He's meant to be like 16 or older, not 12.

What high school did you go to?
Or has the fact that teenagers tend to be played by adults in media finally warped most of humanity's mind?

>>
>>82222799
>He's meant to be 16 or older, not 12
Actually he was fifteen, shit even the Civil War comic states this, and yes I know you're going to argue with the typical "Man, when I was sixteen I was already 6'8 and sounded like a young Sean Connery"

No, you weren't. You, and every other fifteen year old that wasn't on growth hormones were pimply faced, squeaky little shits that still had pitches in their voice.

The thing that's bothered you is that you got older and Spider-Man was always presented to you as this eighteen year old or guy in his early twenties, so it never bothered you. But now that they're going with an actual teenager to play the role, you feel this is wrong. It's not. Kids today are going to grow up with this Spidey, he'll get older as well, and then the reboot will happen once again and then they'll complain.

Fucks sake does it bother you that someone that doesn't even have a drivers license can climb up walls and fight their best friends dad who cucked them on top of bridges?

Come one guys, if you had a fully developed body ar age 15 then you're either a girl or middle eastern.
point is white people age slow at first, then turn 40 when they're 27.
And black people are 28 until they're 50 years old. Asians too.

The problem is that Hollywood hates teenagers so if it can be avoided, they will be played by adults. So people forget what teenagers are like.

This is a hard fact. They are such terrible adaptations of these characters. I feel like Raimi read ASM #1-3, while falling asleep and just said, "Eh, fuck it. That's all I need to know." and then proceeded to wing it from there, using wiki and the 90s animated series as a guide.

Wrong. They just aren't like the modern interpretations of those characters. Raimi Peter is very similar to classic Stan Lee Peter. He's an enormous cringe-inducing nerd who cries all the time and makes really shitty jokes while fighting goofy evil scientists. JJJ is exactly the same as his comics counterpart. So is Aunt May. So is Norman. Harry is pretty similar. The only one I'll give you is very different is MJ.

SM2 Ock is based. Star Wars and Toy Story are timeless classics, though.

And yes the Prequels are bad for that reason and they share another issue that the Raimi movies have, bad acting and dumb changes to the universe.

>If you can't see the merit in Raimi's films than you know very little about filmmaking.
Uh oh! We got a film critic in the thread! Watch out everyone!

Simply being older isn't the issue. That would be extremely silly. There are tons of older movies that are absolutely wonderful. The Raimi Spider-Man movies are not among that list. Rather, they are extremely dated and overtly campy. Rather than come off as fun, they come off as painful and cringeworthy.

>They just aren't like the modern interpretations of those characters.
Or any interpretation of the character. Peter isn't some ultra-beta who was completely ostracized from society and can barely even express a thought to a women, let alone anyone outside Harry.

All you've done is show that you completely fail to understand Spider-Man on a foundation level. You have no idea who that character is.

Go read a Spider-Man comic.

This.

They flanderized Peter's geekiness in those movies.

He was supposed to be sort of a geeky beta but he grew into a confident alpha smack talker. Raimi Peter only got worse each movie.

Except in the original Lee comics...he totally is. It isn't until after he becomes Spider-man that he starts to slowly come out of his shell. He has ZERO friends in his original appearances. He didn't even have Harry until college. He eventually made a few, AFTER becoming Spiderman. Amazing Fantasy 15 makes it very clear that Peter is completely ostracized from society aside from Uncle Ben and Aunt May. You're just plain wrong.

Its clear that Raimi is a big fan of the original Lee/Ditko run. Peter didn't become an alpha until after that original run. Just because its not your favorite version of the character, doesn't invalidate that version. Its clearly Raimi's favorite version, and he adapted that version very closely. So you prefer later versions of Peter, that's fine, but don't insist that every other version is shit just because its not your favorite.

The only reason he was beta after the first movie was because he was spending all his time in costume. A theme taken directly from the early Lee comics. He tries to go see MJ's play and its very clear that if he wasn't Spider-man, he would be totally hitting that shit on a regular basis. But his responsibilities keep him from doing that. He's not actually a beta, he's just too preoccupied with his life as a superhero.

That's only because the comic medium is easier to forgive than live-action portrayals of more or less the same thing. When Peter starts crying after being beaten by Doc Ock for the first time in the comics, he's being a whiny little bitch. But everyone accepts it because its a comic book from the 60s. That's the only reason it has "charm." Because its an old comic book. Raimi tried to transpose that into a modern day movie. You might not like it when you see it in live action in modern day, but don't act like its not a faithful adaptation.

I'm not claiming that Raimi's Spidey is the be-all, end-all live action depiction of Spidey. Personally I feel that we haven't yet gotten a great depiction of the character. I just hate it when people needlessly hate on the Raimi films. They're really fun movies and they feature a specific but accurate depiction of a certain version of Spiderman. It annoys me when people act like Raimi never read a comic book. He just read a very specific run on Spidey and did his best to adapt that version.
>>
>>82229634

>>82229641
And it's ok for Raimi to have read lots of Spider-man and then decide to change things anyways.
Just because you've read the material, it doesn't mean you have to be totally loyal to it.

Raimi's Spider-man was more Peter Parker than the Spider-man we usually know.
He was still just an awkward kid in a mask. He tried a bit to make light, but it's still just a kid playing superhero.
That may not be classic Spider-man, but it's a version I can appreciate

Your other complaints are fair enough (personally I really like Raimi's editing, but I can see why someone would dislike it) but the casting is pretty great all around with a few standout misfires. MJ and Tobey are the clearly bad casting choices, but pretty much everyone else is great. DeFoe as GG is universally praised. JK Simmons as JJ is the greatest casting of all time. Franco as Harry is appropriately douchey yet sympathetic. Aunt May is ripped right out of the old Lee comics. Uncle Ben is pitch perfect. Molina makes for a great Ock. The third film (which we can all agree is awful) is the only one with TRULY terrible casting.

This is cool but only if they keep it consistent. Now that you've established that he's strong enough to overpower peak humans in the MCU then keep it that way. BTW, shouldn't this also pretty much make him bullet proof? Since Cap can dent steel with his punches.
>>

>The third film is really the only point at which Peter's attitude became unacceptable. And he was actually pretty Alpha in that movie. He kissed Gwen, acted generally confident, and was not mopey until after MJ left him.
That is the problem, he was good at first than went 100% anti status and ruined everything, heck he even joked around.

But nope, they butchered it.

The movie would have been great is black Spidey and Venom wasn't even part of the plot and handled Harry a bit better.
>>
>>82229626

And the whole rest of him. His suit adheres too well to the crevices of his physique. In cases like that an actual suit would either fold or remain taut over parts that sink in. If it were a real suit, we shouldn't see so much of shoulder/collar muscle build. It's not a real suit.

Fun fact: Raimi never wanted to do Venom in the first place. He doesn't like the character. Sony forced him to do it and obviously it destroyed the movie.

But I don't understand this. Lee/Ditko Peter was EXTREMELY beta out of costume and he cried like every other issue. He was always whining internally about his responsibility and how shit his life is. You have never read those comics. You're not fooling anyone.

Peter was on the outside of the group because he was incapable of socializing. Hell, he tries to ask some chick named Sally out on a date on page 2 of Amazing Fantasy #15. In fact, he actively tries to hang out with people right away. But Flash, being a douchey bully early on, shoves him out of the social group which causes everyone else to band wagon and shit on him.

In ASM #1, the first half of the issue is him being an arrogant asshole and deciding that HE should be the leader of the Fantastic Four. He goes there and fucks their shit up for a bit before getting caught. When the FF tell him they're a non-profit organization he pretty much tells them to fuck off and bails.

By ASM #7, he already scores a date with Betty Brant.

When ASM #8 comes around, Peter decides he's sick of Flash's shit and challenges him to a boxing match, exclusively to humiliate him in front of all his friends. He punches out Flash in a single hit.

And so on and so fourth. Peter is nothing like the beta loser that Raimi thinks he is.
