He was pretty popular with his videos at the time more so than his animations(esp on eBaums world). This was actually really cool. I think making it a throwback to the 70's style of graininess and rough voices really added to the atmosphere. Not to mention, nothing feels bombastic. Scenes are allowed to play out and nothing is dominated by something being unsubtle. I think it's more that we're so used to the over the top style of storytelling these days that seeing something like this that is more laid back and dry in humor comes off as genuinely cool.

It really does remind me of the venture brothers on its level of chill moments.
That was excellent, goddamn. The 70's vibe really helps elevate the light raygun gothic vibes in StarFox while having the writing be so low key kind of balances out the inherent silliness that comes with trying to make anything tonally darker that a Saturday morning cartoon with anthros. I especially love the banter with Fox and Wolf, Fox imo always had this issue of just being too much of a straight man in the canon works so its nice to see that aspect being played with by having it set up him being so anal about what he gets referred to as.And Wolf is just a delight though for me that's a given considering he's already one of my husbandos. i really love the whole retro cartoon vibe to the whole thing, the voices are pretty decent, wolf's voice is fucking magical, that grizzled veteran voice is just fucking fantastic.
But perhaps most importantly, the script and writing are fantastic, nothing too grandiose, cringeworthy other than the little in-joke about the legs (which I get) but was still funny. Plenty of gifs and reaction faces to be made.
Seriously, the writing is amazing, like everyone else i was expecting shit for the majority of it with a few decent parts like in the previews. But the lack of action is made up with good writing and great banter that doesn't sound forced.

One of those people are me, and a lot of other people do this, its just they aren't open about it because the association of being a furry. I could say I was into Orcs, Elves, Cyclopes, etc. But you couldn't say that with "furry" characters because you'll immediately get bombarded with: "furry", "furfag", or "Yiff in Hell, furfag." on the spot, but it honestly doesn't phase me, if you know you're not a furry, then you're not one, simple as that.

They're neutral because sexual dimorphism in animals is most often an imperceptible thing to us. A male wolf and a female wolf are both cute, majestic, cool looking creatures, it doesn matter if they're inherently feminine or masculine because thats not what you as a human can find in them.

It's because Japan doesn't have the equivalent of a C&D law, if you want to take someone down for using your work: You have to put in the effort.
Everywhere else it's just "Have lawyer write letter, send it to person." and that's the end of that.
It's why they can get away with things like Comiket, an entire convention where people take licensed characters and make fan-comics and porno with them. Theoretically, no one can seriously go after every single artist who shows up there with a lawyer under Japanese law. But in the US or some parts of Europe, it's as easy as writing a letter to the convention hall as a place of assembly can be held liable.
Japan also has special protections for creators of fanwork and even fan-distributors of officially licensed products which doesn't exist elsewhere.

It's not a misunderstanding, it's a cultural thing probably. Japanese companies and especially big ones like Nintendo tend to prioritize the Japanese fanbase and can be way easier on them what with letting stuff like regularly distributed (and often popular) doujinshi get circulated.
Westerners? Nah, fan projects tend to get cancelled upon announcement due to C&A and it's almost always specifically to projects helmed by westerners that this happens. Western companies like Valve tend to not care with this sort of stuff with projects like Black Mesa, but I do wonder what their stance would be on Japanese fan related projects.
