She's pretty much the only character in the show that's had positive development that stuck.
Well Jaune did but I fear that's all out of the window now.
Ruby's been pretty good but she's been static thus far.
Blake's learned the same lesson every season and it still hasn't stuck.
And Yang was static for 1 and 2 and then got negative development.
Where as Weiss learned to respect Ruby and it stuck. And then learned to get over herself and her predjuices and it stuck. Quite surprising honestly.

She's a first year. The only one's who wouldn't give a shit that she wasn't certified would be frontier town's she'd be liable to die in within a year with team rwby. From what we're shown in the show, Weiss is very dust heavy in her fighting. She may recover but that leaves a solo formal form fencer. If her glyphs do use some dust it's even worse.

I'd rather alternative dimensions.
With time travel, they can just go back and pluck Pyrrha out of danger and bring her back to a now altered future. It's the exact same Pyrrha that died, only now she's not dead and everything is better.
An alternative dimension Pyrrha, while technically Pyrrha, isn't THEIR Pyrrha, which has the potential for drama, and also reintroducing a fan favorite character in a new and interesting light, while not going back and making the original's death some meaningless affair.
Example.
Maybe the alternative dimension Pyrrha isn't anywhere near as strong as main dimension Pyrrha was. Maybe her semblance isn't as overpowered, or maybe she hasn't even unlocked it yet. Maybe she's considerably more timid in combat, but is domestically much more confidant.
Perhaps in her universe, SHE was the Jaune, and Jaune was the Pyrrha. Maybe the Jaune in her dimension was the big rising star that threw her into a locker after kissing her to keep her safe and then went to foolishly die in a fight against Cinder Fall.
That would open up a lot development for, in the very least, Jaune.
