Glad Aaron still has the good sense to do Young Thor stories every once in a while.
I was happy to get a young thor story, and even just to see Thor Odinson, but this wasn't very good. It was too slow, the solicits spoil the fact that Thor fights a viking hulk, and that takes the wind out of the story. We could've gotten to the action so fast, so the guy used to pray to thor but he was prideful and went to loki for power, that's like... 2-3 pages. Then the hulk fight.
Also, it is hard to take anything with Thor seriously now, Aaron's all over the place with power in the worst way. Thor has his axe, there is no reason why he doesn't chop hulk up like he did apocalypse in uncanny avengers, except to string us on. We are in "nothing matters anymore" mode with Aaron's Thor and power levels. Watch, Jane foster will struggle with maleketh or some sub 100 ton villain after fighting Odin across the galaxy. It makes no sense. Just read it for the art.

I liked the Young Bloodlust filled Thor stories that reckon back to the norse viking times.
Yes it's slow paced, but we get more of how Thor aided his subjects and it does all amount to prayer. Believe in him or you'll be stabbed and left for dead. That's a fine tale as any.
It's not as good as what we saw during the God Butcher arc, there was more nuissance there but it's an ok addition.
Now the transformation and the design... He looks like a generic giant/hulk, so you're all right on that one.
Hopefully he gets dealt with quick enough and has Evil Corp Minotaur pray to Thor as the big reveal.
