The shift to dark will work for awhile, but without being able to lighten it up (which they can't do with all the death) it will get stale.

Even if it's not full Game of Thrones, its clear the fun the characters had is gone. Innocence of youth was lost, which means they'll start thinking like adult hunters, which means either a sarcastic drunk like Qrow, being clear headed but sad like Taiyang, or overly seriously all the time like Winter and Glynda.
And while less this is a logical development, it's also a very permanent one, and it also means character variation will suffer, as everyone becomes changed by the seriousness of the situation which will probably become boring very quickly.

Don't you know about the Ork's collective psychic power? They have this ability where their belief makes things more true. So their belief that their weapons are good makes them more effective, or their belief in their crating abilities makes weapons that should fall apart work fine, etc.
There's no reason to think it wouldn't work in Remnant, and make Ork engineering just as effective as the typical weapon.

The death is so convincing up until the disintegration, which is far too magical looking for its own good.
