Paul Rudish is a Mickey fanboy who got to make this show because people knew he wanted to do a Mickey project. Disney went to him and asked him to pursue it. It's clear Rudish loves these characters and it is no small opportunity to get to have this much control over them. The series has also been really successful.
Why would Rudish leave all that behind to work on somebody else's show, even one as good as Samurai Jack? It doesn't make sense.
