I've read PS several times.
Without the epilogue it has a pretty meh ending too. Mind you the stakes were a lot lower but still, I'm not gonna be mad until the epilogue also proves disappointing.

I kept reading on and off to see how it ended, can't say I'm surprised by it being fucking bullshit.
The fight with the Condesce was everything I was hoping for in Homestuck. It was this kind of battle that was long overdue, but it was too little too late, and surrounded by more pointless bullshit.
In a way this felt like 8bit theater : hell bent on being a terrible experience for the reader just for the fuck of it.

I don't think 8-bit theatre was bent on being a terrible experience. The joke of the comic was that it was always raising your expectations to actually having the 4 work as a team as the 4 warriors of light and do something good for once instead of being shamelessly selfish assholes and it all ended on a one-off joke about 4 white mages beating Chaos.
Plus, it was 8-bit sprites man. Not much more to enjoy besides the banter and the Simpsons humor. I think it was pretty great and it ended well for me.

That's not an ending, that's the same bullshit we've been eating since forever.
And now we're supposed to be pinning our hopes of some manner of explanation for this shitclusterfuck that we've all been waiting with bated freedom to hear some sort of explanation that ties things together and lets us know where things stand now, and that's just a fucking afterthought tacked onto the end of the post with an "oh, maybe in a few months or something, we'll see".
I'm a mite mad, so I've probably said something dumb here, but w/e, hope that gives you some understanding of why someone would be upset about the current state of affair.

The beforus Troll especially, as he used it all the amount they needed to and made the plot move forward whil providing interresting background story.
As for the retcon they showed great optential. the issue is that this potential remained unused.

After waking up it really hit me at how inconclusive this ending was. It's actually a pretty good reflection of Hussie's relationship with his fans now. The lovingly crafted well done animation represents the still rabid fandom while the complete lack of writing and story represents just how much Hussie just did not care about this comic at the end.
I was planning a reread after the end, but unless the epilogue, that he might not even do, is really good I'll probably pass on that.

Once the hiatuses started coming I stopped hanging around /hsg/ and the like despite actively keeping up with the comic. Now it just sort of feels weird the something that's been going on for seven years of my life has "ended" more or less. I can't say there's much that actively goes on for that long in the same vein as homestuck. Fuck, I can't imagine what it must have been like for people that started the dark tower books with the gunslinger.

My best guess is it led somewhere to Paradox Space, and Gamzee probably got sucked into it and eventually got help making it back to earth and the kids' universe from Kurloz or something. It shouldn't lead to Caliborn's session because Gamzee first appears before Calliope and Caliborn when they're still on the remnants of dead Earth; Gamzee enters Caliborn's session at the same time Caliborn does. The question of how exactly Gamzee gets from being trapped in a fridge on a planet that got blown up to being on dead Earth with baby Caliborn/Calliope is still one of the biggest unanswered questions of Homestuck.

The villains are defeated through regular narration. To do this, the players find clever application for plot elements and powers, Problem Sleuth style, instead of just piling fraymotif on top of fraymotif until the HP bars reach zero.
Karkat, Tavros, GCATavros, Jake and Jane all do something unique, important and genuinely impressive that is focused on for a while.
Preferably after coming up to a kind of realization about themselves (Karkat renounces his unrealistic expectations and admits he's not useless either, Tavros accepts the burden of responsibility for the greater good, etc.)
Cloun's status is explained. We learn how much of his bullshit was Lil Cal mindfuckery, regular insanity, and him just being a fucking asshole. We get to see what he sounds like when he's not insane nor on sopor.
Vriska is killed in a quick, humiliating fashion due purely to her own hubris. Everybody comes to term with the fact that she was fucking horrible.
(Vriska) gets her shit together and actually genuinely apologizes to people she's hurt and grows as a person.
Terezi realizes how much alive Vriska fucked her up and accepts (Vriska)'s apologies. She prepares a fair trial for (Vriska) and Gamzee to be judged for their crimes. They are sentenced to eleven years of Can Town community service.
Rose plays the rain. We see Kanaya tend to the Matriorb at the end and she's doing pretty well despite her fears.
The Horrorterrors are relevant again and somehow help the dead cross over to the new universe. Sollux and Aradia prove crucial to this. Maybe Feferi and Eridan are involved too.

I really doubt that these two scenes were arbitrarily the only first person shots, since it cuts from one directly to the other.
This shows us, that whatever got sucked in, was from Caliborns perspective. In context of course LE.

Open for interpretation. My take on it is, since it's definetly a meta juju, that it transports the target to their "page one", the start of their story in Homestuck.
It was intended to do that with the kids and that's why it had the form, but had the twist, that the user will be the next target.
The end door was just loosely connected to the Juju, not as a literal gateway, just as the same thing with a different function, since it's usage was different.
The frontside sucked LE (and the beta kids during the masterpiece) INTO the story of Homestuck and the backside, which we got to see at the end plattform, was a way OUT of the story of Homestuck
But like I said. That last part is just interpretation and probably not without problems.

Seriously, it is so mindnumbingly obvious that the ending should have been something like this. It's a character driven story. The character arcs should have been completed. Any halfway competent storyteller would have done this. What we actually got was an outsourced Gainax ending.
