See, after creating the first life in the universe by creating Jurai, Tsunami grew a giant tree and fell asleep on its branches.
Eventually two children were playing, and the boy climbed the tree. He met Tsunami who appointed him HNIC of the universe then retreated into the tree to hibernate and await one of his descendants to cohabit and body with as she had forseen it.
Masaki was the other child, who dared her brother to climb the tree. She was supposed to take over for her brother as the first Emperess of Jurai since he was too timid to be Emperor, but as a tomboy she figured "fuck that" and took the first ever spaceship, a royal treeship, and explored the galaxy. She eventually landed on Earth which had been colonized by Juraians, and had kids. When she went to return home she crashed into the moon and sort of died, sort of remained as a semi-tangible ghost watching over mankind.
During the first wars in the universe, when colonies rebelled against Jurai and became various planets including Mihoshi's race and Airi's race, contact with Earth was lost and everyone kind of forgot about it. The Juraians lost their link to the royal trees and became the super weak and super short lived human race.
But here's the fun part. All of humanity is descended from Masaki, making the entire human race part of the royal family. That's why anytime anyone wants to fuck a human they just have to bring that up and bring their spouse to go get a royal tree and gain a super long lifespan and divine powers plus a spaceship.
Oh, and Masaki taught Azusa, Tenchi's grandpa, about the universe when he met her while exploring space and later she met one of Tenchi's kids. Who then married her so they could explore the universe as space archeologists.
