What is unironically the best superhero movie?
>>
Not this, it's awful but deep to many here that saw it at age 12 or whatever. Ledger as le random spooky guy is the only interesting bit.

Either: Watchmen, BvS, GotG, Sin City, Hellboys...

Spiderman 2 of Watchmen.

Yeah that's probably it. Not that it means much.

I can't tell if the people saying Watchmen are joking or not.

Depending on your definition of superhero, I'd say Dredd.
>>
>>81701254
It's a great crime thriller, but te only superhero elements are the ways the protagonist and antagonists dress. It's not a good Batman movie, It's a good movie with Batman in it.

As always, it depends upon what you're looking for out of the experience, but Iron Man, Spider-Man 2 and Deadpool are all pretty much perfect in terms of capturing absolutely everything that makes the characters in question work, and presenting them to the movie-going public in a way that's instantly accessible.

I never understood why Iron Man is considered one of the best when the X-men, Spider-man and Batman movies all came out before and did the same the former did with better results.
>>
The Dark Knight surpasses all levels of the superhero genre, people like to believe Spiderman 2 is on those levels but that's just nonsense. The Dark Knight is an incredible film regardless of it being based on comic books.
The next one in line would probably be BvS which is ahead of its time so it doesn't resonate properly with the audience.
>>

Dark Knight is great, but it doesn't really have the feel of a superhero movie so I don't know for sure if I'd count it.

Honestly probably Spiderman 2. But the first Iron Man is a contender. It struck a great balance between feeling like a comic while being grounded in reality.

Batman Begins is better than The Dark Knight. It's the only good installment of the Dark Knight Saga, and even it is almost ruined by Batman breaking his no killing rule twice.

Of all the movies based on superhero comics, it's easily the best film, unless you count Judge Dredd as a superhero, in which case Dredd 3D is admittedly a better made film, though both are phenomenal.

As far as super hero movies go however, The Incredibles is currently the best ever made.
>>
>>81711136
Still utilizes elements of the comic, while it's not an exact adaption it's still based on the comic book, it's not like it's completely bastardizes the original source material like Son of the Mask.
>>
>>81701254
guardians of the galaxy or spiderman 2
>>
>>81711284
10/10 taste but he's not a cape so it doesn't really count.
Still best comic adaptation, Dredd 2 when?
>>
>>81711318
Wasn't the film actually developed alongside the comic as it's own unique entity?
Either way, it's not a superhero movie, though it's a great adaptation.
>>

>>
>>81711284
Probably the most underrated movie I've ever seen, and that's including the cult praise it gets. Easily my favorite action movie, by a fucking mile.

You can skip around the movie, go to absolutely any frame, and it is fucking guaranteed to be absolutely flawless and perfectly composed. The movie is absolutely breathtaking visually, with some of the best sound design I've seen in a movie, certainly an action movie, to boot.
>>
>>81710915
Well thats retarded and you are buying into company wars. It IS a superhero movie. Its a fucking Batman movie. It not having a shared universs doesnt make it not a superhero movie you idiot.
>>
>>81711291
The fight choreography is the weakest part of that entire series to be honest. Even the first went downhill fast after he put on the suit. Better fights would make TDK the undisputed best Cape movie of all time.

Listen like it if you will but it is so silly to go 'well obviously the people who dont like what i like only dont like it because they dont understand it'.

Of course there isn't a correct answer, all art is subjective. The point of making this thread is for people to discuss what they think the best superhero movie is.

How else will he make himself feel smart?

Captain America 2 is pretty GOAT. TDK despite floundering at points still has some great acting an action. Shit fights, but the car chase with Joker, Dent and Batman is literally god tier.
>>
Top five are

The Dark Knight
Pixar's The Incredibles
Iron Man 1
Raimi's Spiderman 2
Cap 2 WS

Honestly I gotta go with this.
I love MCU flicks for the most part, I love the nolan trilogy. I even dig a good few X-men movies. And i think films like Winter soldier and the dark knight are better films.
But when i think of the best 'superhero film'. As in the movie that works the best as a piece of superhero fiction rather than just as a movie, I just can't think of anything quite as up there as spider-man 2.
The struggle of the hero, the villain, the way Raimi films it in that unique and slightly abstract style, the action. It all just works so perfectly at bringing all that good spider-man shit to life.

>>
>>81711035
It's really well paced compared to the Donner movies, it isn't bogged down with origin stories, and it has a higher budget than Superman IV. It's a much better sequel than Superman Returns, it isn't really ridiculous and despite having a lot of slapstick comedy, it treats Superman's character and established movie setting with respect.

It also doesn't have Lex Luthor, who Donner set up as a known criminal with a very small power base in the first movie, and doesn't have the pointless destruction of Superman II or the heavy-handed message of Superman IV. It's the perfect Superman movie; you're getting a Lex stand-in who's competent but distinct, you get criminals who are criminals for different reasons rather than just being evil. It's great.

And ultimately it's a very comic book movie. It's not ashamed to be a goofy, kid-friendly thing.

Iron Man felt fresh - there weren't a million previous versions of the character, so it was a fresh superhero on film, the comedy was well done, the quips weren't out of hand yet, special effects were great, action was great, Tony Stark as a character was well done and RDJ was great in the role. It was dark when it needed to be, light and colorful when it needed to be. It's just solid Capeshit through and through. Tony Stark built it in a cave. With a box of scraps.

Also, Lois Lane is fucking grating in that movie. Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor is terrible, and Superman lacks any sense of his own nobility save the facade of it.
>>
>>81729015
Well it's based off Silver Age supes. Reeves superman can also kiss someone to erase their memories, make clones of himself and all these other shit.

I saw it as a kid and didn't like it then.

I rewatched Superman and Superman II not long after Man of Steel came out and I realised how incredibly camp it was.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel the only way Superman really works as a character is if someone beats him up, and can (or does) kill him.

Otherwise I feel that he's this boring OP character and the drama of Clark's struggle is gone.
