I think as dumb as that was, these overall weren't the "Biggest issues" in the story and reason they were Vriska'd was because we were fast tracking towards the end onto bigger and better things. So we could move towards a comic about defeating Cake Sea-Witches and saving ghosts from skull monsters, instead of more sensible arcs such as overcoming Alcoholism and whatnot.
Afterall wasn't Roxy forced to quit drinking by Circumstances too? The plot just moved them forward, often like how life does intervene.

The Seers have deep-seated insecurities. Rose because of her mom, Terezi because of herself, ect. That's why that 'clutter' exists, it informs us about the characters, exists as an obstacle to their growth and serves as a minor hiccup in progress. To say "These problems are minor so they shouldn't exist altogether" is asinine and antithetical to Homestuck operates. They were introduced, bludgeoned and then done away with, like most things in life, there's no need to dwell on them at all.

Reading back over Act 6 in the last week or so, it doesn't actually get THAT bad, the story slows but once you get past the Alpha kid Segments it's smooth sailing.
The only reason it seemed so tenuous and drawn out is because it took us 3-4 years to slog through the end. It's like, 66% of the story's running time was used to tell the last third of the story.
If it was done as hastily as the earlier segments that fatigue wouldn't feel as pronounced. But it does read better archival rather than serially.

If so, what if Spades Slick returns later? He would also have been sucked in, and having survived the destruction of a universe, I don't see any reason why decapitation as a robot should be a reason to count him out.

She got over herself when she talked with Roxy and realized they both related to each other over drinking to their dead mums and don't need to compare and feel burdened by their parents anymore. One problem with the "villain" trolls was that I didn't really see them as these really REALLY evil people. Both Gamzee and Eridan just seemed manipulated. Even Eridan didn't really FEEL like Hitler reborn who wishes to kill all landwellers and when he was, it just felt like a joke. The tone is too silly and ligh hearted in places, we got Rose talking to Gamzee after he killed people and took their bodies and while he seemed crazy, I didn't really get the feeling that "oh damn this dude is evil, he wishes that everyone would just die and doesnt even regret killing his friends at all!". He just seemed tired and I could easily see him being sorry if confronted. Equius getting strangled just felt like he was, like, killed. Instead of this disgustisting asphyxiation fetish creep death Hussie kept talking about. The only one I really hated for doing what they did was Vriska because she acted rude, was an asshole and a bully. I didn't see Gamzee laughing about fooling everyone and shit talking karkat for trusting him and being pathetic failure so I just got the vibe he wasn't in his right mind.

Trolls were introduced very early into the story. The problem is that it was just a small bunch instead of TWELVE of them, at once, clogging every pore of their story with their presence until Hussie got tired of them.
The alpha kids should have been properly integrated earlier, or in a different way. It's bad because they were designed (and introduced!) even before the trolls, but we had to wait until Act 6 to actually see them. The trolls took so much of the alpha kid's spotlight that when they were introduced nobody actually cared about them.

This is pretty true, i think. That being said, the way I see it, people probably have a complete set of class/aspect pairings in them, but that is just to account for people not being so clear cut. Your title is just the one that is most prominent, rendering the other combinations more or less irrelevant. If you have ever watched Hitman: Reborn! it is kinda like Gokudera's multiple flame types, except in this case they dont manifest themselves in any way beyond personality. Does that make sense?

Nah, that interpretation comes from information that was given years after those tests were made. I think it's been implied that Space characters are meant to be kind people, but it's also known that Princes tend to subvert their aspect. There's probably some duality in play here.

More thoughts on this AU because you'd probably have to rewrite some aspects of SBURB and the species to get it to work:
The inter-personal hatred between Calliope and Caliborn is toned down to intense rivalry levels instead of murder levels so they can have actual conversations and get the session rolling. Caliborn later opts for murder and hijacks the session. Still takes the Yaldabaoth challenge, becomes the equivalent of Bec Noir attacking the troll's session but for the kids instead. Scratch plays Hussie's role in his journey to help him along (just as sardonically despite his role as servant because those logs were pure gold). Dreambubbles are pared down exponentially so it's a gaggle of significant shitty timelines from the kids' sessions and Calliope still in hiding. The final battle of the series would still be in the B2 kid's session but it'd be against the Felt, English, and maybe Scratch survives this one? And the Exiles get involved.
There's a lot to hammer out but generally speaking it'd be all the best parts of Homestuck and no trolls and the story would still be great and have a lot of common elements.

Pre-getting-stabbed Vriska is a great example of how to give a supporting character an arc while making fun of the distinction between protagonists and supporting characters. Unfortunately Act 5 was overwrought with shitty filler characters, unnecessary "lore", and just a lot of stalling in general. And everything went to shit afterwards.

The structure I'm thinking of now is:
Act 1 is the kids starting up their session. Along with the Alphas, whose relationship with the kids is left vague in the same way as "J" being Jade's penpal was, Calliope and Caliborn are the equivalents of the trolls, but in this case they're also just now starting up their session instead of talking to them post-session. We don't see them, so they're assumed to be human or left otherwise species ambiguous. Maybe Calliope wants to be a human instead of a troll and we see her hand in a white glove, which is an excellent way to hide Caliborn's similar appearance to LE. Exile stuff happens. The human session is invaded and fucked over by English. The kids are forced to scratch and a lot of the stuff from Cascade happens (I'll have to... work out how the Exiles make it to the next session without first guardian powers, maybe that prototyping just happens anyway but doesn't fuck everything up quite as much)
The Intermission happens and it's just the Intermission, but instead it takes place on the Earth moon in the B2 universe. The Exiles are separate from it but the moon looks kind of weird from their vantage point on Earth. We're not sure of the significance but people assume the demon that attacked the kid's session is the unrevealed Lord English.
Act 2 is the cherub session and oh wow oh shit they look like English what a twist. They actually get to play (no chains because it seems unnecessary in this case, maybe their sarswapagus acts as a key that unlocks separate rooms), Caliborn kills Calliope (who we're now much more invested in), does his Yaldabaoth session and gets the Felt, achieves immortality and craaaazy time powers, fucks off to the kid's session. Calliope's shown to be hiding in the bubbles and English is already after her there and then because weird time and space shit we're used to.

When I thought about a Homestuck "rebuild" I personally didn't think it would be necessary to cut out the trolls entirely, although it makes sense that people want to do that.
Honestly, I think the comic works pretty well until Cascade, the main thing I want is a total reimagining of Act 6 and the elimination of Hivebent (in other words, integrating trolls earlier in the story).
My vision of Act 6 would still have the kids traveling through paradox space to get to the B2 session, but a lot more shit would happen, and they'd have to actively evade LE. The B2 session would have gone to shit, and the B1 kids/remaining trolls would learn about it through dream bubbles, since they're outside of time anyway, and there'd be this big mystery surrounding the kid versions of their guardians and what exactly they're up against. I dunno, didn't do a good job explaining it but it I think it would work without having to change up the story too much.

I think the best "simplified Homestuck plot" is one where the Scratch is eliminated.
Jack Noir remains the main villain, and basically replaces the Black King. He may still get Bec's powers, but he never makes it to the Trolls' session. They can be explained to have won the game, but done so while ignoring their personal quests and not saving their lands, so they created the new universe, but are denied the prize of entering it.

Actually, I'm going to go ahead and toss in Bec Noir on that clusterfuck because we need that battlefield tragedy for WV's character development (which would ACTUALLY BE DELIVERED ON because this is TROLL-LESS HOMESTUCK and THE SKY'S THE LIMIT). All the exiles survive because I said so, though.
Then Act 3 is the B2 session with an earth that was kind of fucked up by Scratch, maybe the B2 kids grew up in a world that was directly more troll-like. The kids show up in their actually decent session, which has the void prototypings so the ring of life can be around. We got most of the Alpha kids' conversations with the cherubs in the cherub session because the Beta kids were busy getting blasted by English for most of it. The kids show up, Roxy saves Calliope with the ring, and the final face-off of the comic is Lord English, Scratch, and the Felt against all the kids, prototyped WV (or AR) and PM, Spades Slick (since the rest of his crew died in the Intermission but let's just say B2 DD, HB, and CD all survived this time and become the new crew after), and Calliope, who's not a good fighter but helps where she can. Kids win, Caliborn probably dies but since the bubbles are pared down he can just chill there. Scratch also probably dies but the Felt abscond post-fight and the Midnight Crew adventures can continue on B2 Derse or something.
Also all the kids and cherubs are 13-ish throughout the whole story and shipping bullshit is kept to a minimum because almost everyone's related anyway.
