Doctor Manhattan was a human who was becoming so powerful that he was shedding his humanity and growing distant from the rest of the world.
King's Vision is a story of a nonhuman trying his hardest to assimilate into normal human life.
Not only are the characters different but the stories also play out so dramatically different that you'd have to have NOT read them to think they are similar (OP's problem). You may have had an argument if you pointed to Byrne's treatment of Vision. Also blaming Marvel is hilarious considering the writer is best known for his DC work.
