Ike Pearlmutter

>Legendarily tight-fisted with budgets and perks. Wouldn't let attendees have food at the Iron Man premier
>Re-edited pictures after they were in the can without director help or permission
>Refused to release Black Widow toyline
>So controlling multiple directors turned down jobs they had first-refusal on (Branagh on Thor 2, Johnson on Cap 2, apparently Favreau on Avengers) and Marvel has serious trouble hiring 'prestige' directors because of him.
>Tried to oust RDJ from Marvel movies. TRIED TO OUST RDJ FROM MARVEL MOVIES.
>Eventually became so toxic that Fiege went directly to Disney to get his ass sidelined into the TV division.
>Does all the same shit at the TV division (apparently easier to make a deal with fucking SONY than get Marvel movies and Marvel TV to cooperate)
>So paranoid this is apparently the only picture of him in the past thirty years

I've been reading a little and this entire industry feels filled with people who are just unreal. Who else is in/around the comics industry who are just legendarily crazy, weird, evil, or have simply failed upwards? Throw it all out there.
>>
>>81619066
>>Refused to release Black Widow toyline
That desperate for hot glue, eh?
>>
>Marvel
>Run by the IDF

Are you at all surprised?
>>
So, I was telling my friend about this Pearlmutter/Fiege thing a few months ago, and my friend went "Wait, I think my dad actually had a lunch with that guy". So, my friend's dad works with Stem Cell Research, and they were looking for a grant. So he as well as a few other guys from that hospital had dinner with him. When they got to the point about the grant, Pearlmutter then started to give them tips like "Don't use real plates in your hospital, use paper ones" and stuff like that.
>>
>>81619113
>"Don't use real plates in your hospital, use paper ones"
Jews gonna jew.
>>
The guy pulled himself from poverty by himself and is a billionaire.

He's frugal, so what. Marvel is still earning shekels and doind decent work.
>>
He's being sued by a neighbor for harassment. It's possible we might get a new picture of him soon.

>>81619450
We're not even talking about BvS and the Marvel Internet Defense Force is in here.
That's how deeply some people have taken the M-Dick. In their ass, might I add. They are taking dry anal from Marvel.
>>
>>81619473
>not refuting any facts I gave
>not presenting any to the contrary
>using ad hominem

No wonder, /co/ is in the gutter.

>>>/qa/482474

>>
>Isaac Perlmutter was born to a Jewish family in then British Mandate of Palestine, now Israel.
>>
>>81619511
There is no point in refuting the facts you've given, seeing how his past history up to his becoming a billionaire is not in question.
What IS in question is your flippancy in giving Perlmutter a pass for the action listed in >>81619066 simply because the ends justify the means and because (in your words) "Marvel still earns shekels". The following is an extreme example of such a case, but your willingness to let his sins go forgiven without thought is akin to allowing a person such as Stalin to do as he pleased simply because he brought his country from poverty to stability.
>>
>>81619583
>ignoring the last words of my post

Another fallacy.

I said they were doing decent work, and they are. He's not "Stalin".
>>
>>81619066
Didn't Chris Evans walk back his retirement from acting after Ike Perlmutter was removed from Marvel's film division?
>>
>>81619610
yes he is
he's the reason marvel is all #1 issues now, too
>>
Now make a greentext for Tom Rothman

It's ancient news, true.
>>
>>81619612
Eh. Cash is powerful motivator.
>I'm excited to work with Russos!
Sure you are.
>>
>>81619719
Do you think they'll keep paying RDJ's ballooning fee just so they can keep him as Iron Man?
>>
>>81619701

I don't know enough about him but I see from headlines he's an exec at Sony who replaced Amy Pascal and he's also been talking up the new Ghostbusters so I'm just gonna assume this:

>He's a nervous wreck because Sony is a drowning man at sea desperately trying to cling to any properties they happen to own, and exactly like a drowning man he's just dragging that thing along to a watery grave with him.

>>81619612

Didn't his directing career also not get off to a great start, to put it gently?
>>
>>81619875
Yeah. Which is hilarious when you read those rumors how he wants to get fired and keeps asking for more money.
And they keep giving, absolute madmen.
>>
>>81619896
The important thing about Rothman was his essential psychosis regarding the X-franchise
>>
But he's not a comics person.
>>
>>81619066
And after AoU Feige went to Disney heads "dude is killing us with his Penny Pinching" And so Film Division reports directly now.
>>
>>81620078
I bet nobody has the power to boot him in TV now
>>
>>81619066
Bendis?
>>
>>81619066
>Ike Perlmutter
>Literally ex-Mossad who won commendations for slaying Arab hordes during the Six-Day War

He's probably one of those people who's "seen things" and gone crazy because of it

>implying comics have ever been decent

Comics have always been hamfisted, money-grubbing pieces of trash. This man made them into a franchise that was able to produce new content on a decent scale with good wuality. The comics before the 2000s sucked dick. Now they're better, and the movies are better. He raised them from bullshit tier to below average reading material tier with writers who still have the mentality of children and who couldn't write a decent paragraph but can insert drawn effect whenever they see a body part hitting another.

He's responsible for the current movies and for the better quality of comics. The least you could do is at least think before speaking.

>Comics have always been hamfisted, money-grubbing pieces of trash
>The comics before the 2000s sucked dick. Now they're better
nigga you can't just say COMICS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SHIT and then say COMIC WERE MORE SHITTY BEFORE I WAS BORN BUT NOW THEY'RE OKAY BECAUSE THEY COPY THE MOVIES. stop sucking marvel's dick and go jack off to 3D porn for the first time in your life.

also if perlmutter is directly responsible for the "wuality" of the mcu movies, as opposed to feige or others, i'll slit my wrists with a piece of paper and stream it live via youtube.
>>
>>81619066
Also,
>sponsors Trump's campaign
>>
>>81620255
He literally raped me with that act.
But I won't quit working for Marvel.
>>
>>81620266
Of course you won't, goy.
>>
Re: Pearlmutter it sounds like a case of the right man at the right time, but then the man stays around and refuses to either step down or change.

I'm entirely willing to give him credit for 'saving' Marvel or whatever while still thinking he's a pretty loony person for that greentext.

>>81619966

Most of what I found was forum posts from butthurt comic book fans but it sounds like he both HATED the idea of superhero movies and also never saw a budget or runtime he didn't want to cut.
>>
>>81619066
>The “Stan’s Soapbox” column, a regular feature since 1967, was discontinued; Marvel explained that it took up potentially valuable advertising space. Perlmutter had also been campaigning to remove the “Stan Lee Presents” banner from the comics, and had even insisted that Lee be scratched from the list of those who received complimentary copies of new comics. “Ike had it in for Stan like you wouldn’t believe,” said one editor. “Ike hated him.”
I like him a bit now.

The richest jews like to keep themselfs outside of the public eye
>>
>>81619066
That man looks so uptight you could shovel coal up his ass and pull out diamonds.
>>
>>81619066
This isn't news, OP.
Comic books apparently attract fucking weirdos I guess. A lot of famous Bronze Age creators and such were WEIRD guys.
>>
Why does Disney leave a powerful CEO in a wholly owned subsidiary is what I want to know. Those people usually get shitcanned in an acquisition, or given a position at the new parent company.
>>
>>81620683
Like Neal Adams.
>>
>>81620094
It does well enough so they don't really mind.
>>
>>81620764
There's crazy and then there's CRAZY.
Adams is DEFINITELY in the latter.
>>
Marvel use to be run by a guy who was in charge of a make-up line it's always been wacky and crazy at the top

Loeb is in charge of the TV division. He's their Feige, and Loeb is loyal to Marvel Entertainment. He's a comics guy afterall, unlike Feige who is just a film producer through and through.

Loeb wouldn't want to do the same power play that Feige pulled because Loeb would rather work for Marvel than for Disney, even if Perlmutter is awful.
>>
>>81620756
Because even within Disney, Perlmutter is to be feared.
>>

>>

Before, Perlmutter would have had a tribute page in the back of one month's comic releases and be done with it.
Now, Perlmutter would likely stream memorial services, sell polybagged variant covers, commission documentaries about Stan Lee's life, and ultimately find a way to maximize not only sales profits but advertising profits.

>This heartfelt memorial for Stan Lee has been brought to you by Pepperidge Farms. Do you recall when comics were called funny books and weren't afraid to feature racist depictions of Japs? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
