Damn, anon, the more I think about it, the less sure I become.
I think "highly unfavorable timeline" could be interpreted as simply the future. It's odd to interpret the Slick we see for the rest of the comic as one from a different timeline. If this was true, then we would have to take into account where the Slick from the "original" timeline went. What happened to the rest of the Felt/Midnight Crew members in Lord English's mansion after Slick was transported also becomes fuzzy. It brings up more questions than answers.
I personally believe the issue here might be that there's an inconsistency in the comic. Perhaps the Intermission was just meant to be a non-canon funhouse when Hussie wrote it, but then when he decided to show the troll session, he knew he had to show the Midnight Crew eventually. So it's possible he forgot who in the Felt was alive, and covered it up by framing it in time shenanigans.
Anyways, nowhere else gave a clear answer to this, so I'm just assuming it's inconsistent writing in an otherwise choerent time travel plot.I've tried twice to create a coherent timeline of Homestuck now, hopefully I'll have a better chance at this once the comic ends.

My first timeline failed because my format was retarded. Rather than a chronological timeline, it was based on appearance in the comic. I got to the end of Act 4, but it was simply too confusing to understand. I would have failed horribly if the clutter continued into A5A1. Let's not even talk about how A5A2 would fare.
I gave up on my second timeline during the Omegapause. It had a neater, chronological format that read better. But I realized creating a timeline was futile when all the pieces weren’t together. Got to the start of Act 4.
I thought of a new timeline format just the other day, and can't wait to try it out.
