They said this season would focus on Magic and so far Dark and Constantine are the only ones to even mention it. The action scenes are just filler to make way for more Olicity Drama and when we aren't dealing with Olicity Drama we are putting up with supporting characters telling Oliver that he should get back together with Felicity

It's a fakeout. He stopped her heart with a kung-fu move and will use the magic neck press thing to revive her in secret.
Everyone thinks she's dead so she can go recover and get better trained from someone like Tatsu. Meanwhile her Dad is safe since Darkh would keep him alive to suffer in misery. But Laurel knows he has the team and Donna to lean on.
Comes back later, either end of Season 4 or start of Season 5 as a much better and able Black Canary. Felicity is finally out of the damn picture and Oliver knows she loves him, things start to develop between them again but this time with everything they've been through they make it work.
Without the Olicity train wreck ruining the show we finally get the Green Arrow and Black Canary we've been waiting for. Flashbacks are Oliver's time in Russia in the Bratva.
Do Ollie and Canary even know each other in the new 52?
Amell went out of his way to stay no matter what happens on the show Olicity is end game.

The show has been is genuinely awful since mid-way through season 3. There’s been a few good episodes here and there but for the most part it's terrible. Felicity shipping is only a part of it to. Awful character development, awful fight scenes the writers look like they're just making it up as they go along.
Along with Supergirl, it's the worst comic-book TV show currently airing by quiet some way. You could probably argue it’s one of the worst drama/action shows currently airing full stop.

Presumably we'll have to discretely assassinate Guggenheim in the brief window of time between the conclusion of season 2 and the beginning of season 3.
