Well, considering real life spies have fairly low success rates, simply being involved in more than five successful missions and not dying is a big deal. Especially Cold War spies, fuckers got caught left and right to the point only the World War 2 British spies had a worse life expectancy.

In season one and two, it was a running joke that even though Archer had a hit and miss record competency wise from what we were shown on screen, off-screen he was EXTREMELY competent, to the point that just MENTIONING HIS NAME made terrorists and bad guys shit their pants and scared shit-less that Archer was going to fuck their shit up.
